The Liar

As Michelle Malkin says, Obama's halo is quivering a bit in the wake of the MSM *finally* covering what the blogs have been talking about for, oh, a year or so, namely Obama's "pastor" and his anti-America, racist tirades from the pulpit. She says this after watching an interview on Fox with Major Garrett and Barack Obama regarding this:

Wow. You could see Glowbama’s halo flickering. He looked and sounded nervous, shifty, and truth-challenged as he tried to have it both ways with Jeremiah Wright (whom he continued to praise as a “Biblical scholar” and “well-regarded” even as he paid lip service to disavowing him and denied eeeever hearing Wright’s vitriol).

"Well-regarded" by whom? I guess the black people in his flock who he is beating down and dispiriting with his garbage. Check out some of these excerpts from Jeremiah Wright (I refuse to call him "Reverend" just as I refuse to call Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson "Reverend." They don't deserve it.).

Who cares about what a poor black man has to face every day in a country and a culture controlled by rich white people?  Somebody missed that.  You got nervous because we got some white members here.  I am still in Bible country.  I am still in the text.  Jesus was a poor black man who lived in a country and who lived in a culture, that was controlled by rich white people! The Romans were rich. The Romans were Italians -- which means they were European, which means they were white -- and the Romans ran everything in Jesus' country.  It just came to me with -- with -- within the past few weeks, y'all, why so many folk are hatin' on Barack Obama.  He doesn't fit the model!  He ain't white, he ain't rich, and he ain't privileged. (cheers)

RUSH:  He was riiiiiiding dirty in the White House! Rich white people!  And one more.  We've bleeped this out.  You heard it yesterday.  This is the G.d. America sound bite.  This is from a 2003 sermon.

WRIGHT:  The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law, and then wants us to sing God Bless America?  No, no, no! Not God Bless America! God (Bleep) America! (cheers) -- it's in the Bible -- for killing innocent people! (cheers) God (Bleep) America for treating her citizens as less than human! God (Bleep) America, as long as she tries to act like she is God and she is supreme!

Wow. Can you feel the love? Senator Obama claims that he doesn't know of these views. That is just an out-and-out LIE. He has gone to this church for twenty years. Not only that, but...

How can it be said that you are as smart as they say you are if you're going to tell us you don't know what all this guy has been saying?  Senator Obama, as recently as 2006, it's reported that you contributed $22,500 to the pastor's church.  By then you surely knew of his views. You knew of his trip to Libya with Farrakhan. You knew of the award he gave Farrakhan. You knew all about the hate and racism that your pastor was spewing.  Why did you give a $22,500 contribution to this church rather than resign from it in protest?  You give this church, Senator Obama, $22,500, and you are endorsing what goes on there, and you want it to continue.  How many other contributions to the church have you made, Senator Obama, in your 20-year membership?  You've said that you don't agree with "everything" the pastor said.  Can you tell us what you agree with, from what he has said?  You told us what you don't agree with.  Please, Senator Obama, tell us what your minister says that you agree with.  These are reasonable questions.  The man is running for the office of president of the United States of America, and if we didn't have a Drive-By Media in the tank for the guy -- and who probably didn't think half of what this preacher says is true -- they would be asking these questions. And Senator Obama, you take offense at Geraldine Ferraro and others' little criticisms of you?

That was Rush, and you gotta agree. There is MUCH more in the article linked, much more hatred and vitriol from this charlatan who calls himself a man of God.

I'm not a big Bill O'Reilly fan, but I love how he goes after the media in this video. It is SO painfully apparent that the media doesn't want anything to do with this story. They know how much it is hurting Obama. I'll bet Hillary is a happy camper right now. The question is...does he have enough of a delegate lead to overcome this chink in his armor and still become the Dem nominee? Do enough people hate Hillary on the Democrat side to keep her down? Who knows? One thing about it, there may be enough people disgusted with the whole Democrat mess to cross over and vote for John McCain. Contrary to my esteemed co-blogger's opinion, I think that would be best for America. It's going to be one of them, and in my opinion, McCain is clearly the best choice that is available to us.

JASmius adds: Sailor's defending Obama on this, BTW.  Maybe it's because, as AP observes, McCain doesn't want to be seen as "attacking a pastor".  More likely he doesn't want to be seen as criticizing a "black leader".  Most likely is that he's going to spend the entire general campaign kissing the ass of one of his good, close, personal Donk friends either way, so why make that labor of love more difficult by being partisan about anything now (or ever)?

It's a self-correcting mechanism.  What makes McCain as unacceptable as Hillary or B.O. is precisely why he hasn't a prayer in November.  His candidacy is their candidacies' enabling mechanism.  If this were boxing, Darth Queeg would be taking the dive.

And why not?  He's already accomplished his principle goal.  Actually winning the presidency would be gravy.
