Like Moths To A Blowtorch

Yes, I will admit that for a little while back in the late winter and early spring I thought I understood why Barack Hussein Obama had become a legitimate obstacle to Hillary Rodham Clinton's coronational processional.  He was slick; he was handsome; he was charismatic; he was a tabula rasa on which everybody's Enemy Media-ingrained "hopes" for "change" could be embossed; he was unvetted, and therefore nobody yet had any reason to despise him; but, of course, mostly it was because he's black.  And being black has evidently superceded having a vagina when it comes to the identity politics pecking order in the Democrat Party.

But now?  After Tony Rezko and Jeremiah Wright and William Ayers and Bernadette Dohn and a thousand and one gaffes that range from the passing malaprop that can happen to anybody to major league boners and excursions in sheer rhetorical ignorance that far outweigh Mrs. Clinton's mere yowling whoppers, all of which show His Eminence to be equal parts crook, extremist, liar, and dolt, just how is it that BO is still in this race, much less slightly ahead?

Here's another rafter of rakes from just the past few days.

***In the immediate wake of trying to make a big stink about Senator McCain's lobbyist hypocrisy, it turns out that "Barry's" chief campaign strategist...is a lobbyist himself:

When Illinois utility Commonwealth Edison wanted state lawmakers to back a hefty rate hike two years ago, it took a creative lobbying approach, concocting a new outfit that seemed devoted to the public interest: Consumers Organized for Reliable Electricity, or CORE. CORE ran TV ads warning of a “California-style energy crisis” if the rate increase wasn’t approved — but without disclosing the commercials were funded by Commonwealth Edison. The ad campaign provoked a brief uproar when its ties to the utility, which is owned by Exelon Corporation, became known. “It’s corporate money trying to hoodwink the public,” the state’s Democratic Lieutenant-Governor Pat Quinn said.

What got scant notice then — but may soon get more scrutiny — is that CORE was the brainchild of ASK Public Strategies, a consulting firm whose senior partner is David Axelrod, now chief strategist for Barack Obama. [emphasis added]

Guess Newsweek must feel confident that Obama has the nomination (and therefore, the November election) in the bag to run a gotcha expose like this.  Lobbyists clandestinely helping corporate interests bamboozle energy consumers?  Gosh, I thought only eeeeevil Republicans did things like that!

Oh, but that's not the punchline:

But the activities of ASK (located in the same office as Axelrod’s political firm) illustrate the difficulties in defining exactly who a lobbyist is. In 2004, Cablevision hired ASK to set up a group similar to CORE to block a new stadium for the New York Jets in Manhattan. Unlike Illinois, New York disclosure laws do cover such work, and ASK’s $1.1 million fee was listed as the “largest lobbying contract” of the year in the annual report of the state’s lobbying commission. ASK last year proposed a similar “political campaign style approach” to help Illinois hospitals block a state proposal that would have forced them to provide more medical care to the indigent. One part of its plan: create a “grassroots” group of medical experts “capable of contacting policymakers to advocate for our position,” according to a copy of the proposal. (ASK didn’t get the contract.) [emphasis added]

Universal health care?  Ba-ROCK says he's for it, plans to raise his magic staff and conjure it up, but his right-hand man used his lobbying prowess to try to deny medical services to the "poor".

Not that I personally have any problem with lobbying.  I could care less what David Axelrod does in his "spare time" - but for the fact that he has led Obama's "anti-lobbyist" charge, one that has crashed and burned several times already, before he took major PR shrapnel himself.  This is, once again, either incompetence on an unimaginable scale or a comparable level of arrogant complacency that they'd never be called on such monumental hypocrisy.

***"Uncle Hugo" Chavez, communist dictator of Venezuela and close ally of both Red China and Islamist Iran, is one of the rogue scum to whom Senator Obama can't wait to grovel.  Chavez' proxy force in neighboring Columbia is the recently decimated narcommunist guerrilla army known as FARC.  See if you can follow the Obama logic on this topic:

More recently, Obama as he traveled through Florida seemed to give some contradictory statements about Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez and the Colombian terrorist group FARC.

On Thursday Obama told the Orlando Sentinel that he would meet with Chavez and “one of the obvious high priorities in my talks with President Hugo Chavez would be the fermentation of anti-American sentiment in Latin America, his support of FARC in Colombia and other issues he would want to talk about.”...

No, that isn't a misprint; Barack Hussein Obama, former editor of the Harvard Law Review, the latest Smartest Person In The World, the Secular Messiah himself, actually confused the terms "ferment" and "foment".  Either that or he thinks that anti-US sediment...um, SENTIMENT, in Latin America is rotting, or is developing in a culture of neo-Yankee-go-homeism, or that this hostility isn't so bad that they wouldn't be willing to rise to the occasion by taking a break from all their worries and have a beer with good ol' Uncle Sam before resuming hating our hops - GUTS.  Which is actually Hillary Rodham Clinton's gimmick, but I digress from the digression.

OK, so a strong declaration that Chavez is supporting FARC, which Obama intends to push him on.

But then on Friday he said any government supporting FARC should be isolated.

“We will shine a light on any support for the FARC that comes from neighboring governments,” he said in a speech in Miami. “This behavior must be exposed to international condemnation, regional isolation, and - if need be - strong sanctions. It must not stand.”

So he will meet with the leader of a country he simultaneously says should be isolated? Huh?

Is this confusion?  Contradiction?  No; it is a failure to think through the linear implications of his half-baked foreign policy daydreaming.  Or, isolating the actionable words, a "failure to think".  Which pretty much sums up his entire campaign, when you get right down to it.

Always playing intellectual catchup, BO tried on the fly to backfill the ditch into which he'd just done that header:

Said Obama: “I think the Organization of American States and the international community should launch an immediate investigation into this situation. We have to hold Venezuela accountable if, in fact, it is trying to ferment terrorist activities in other borders. If Venezuela has violated those rules, we should mobilize all the countries to sanction Venezuela and let them know that that’s not acceptable behavior.”

“If” Venezuela “is trying to ferment terrorist activities in other borders”? Just one day before Obama had asserted that Chavez was supporting FARC in Colombia.

Translation: "Did I say President Chavez was smuggling yeast across the border to FARC?  Gosh, I apologize to him and the good folks at FARC for jumping to that conclusion; we shouldn't assume that just because the Uribe regime has already defeated FARC and has their leaders in custody and possesses Raul Reyes’ laptop showing hundreds of millions in funding from Chavez to FARC that FARC is a terrorist group trying to overthrow the elected government of Columbia, or that President Chavez was helping them do it.  Uribe's not an objective source, after all; no, only the Organization of American States, backed by the United Nations, is qualified to make that call.  And then only after they run it by President Chavez for his pre-approval.  We have to be fair."  And he has to extricate both his feet from his lazy thought processes so as to preserve his date with Uncle Hugo.

If George W. Bush had ever mangled "foment" into "ferment"....never mind.

***The preamble of yesterday's Memorial Day Obamarrhea in New Mexico:

On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes - and I see many of them in the audience here today - our sense of patriotism is particularly strong.

Was their audience laughter at this?  Were they as clueless as he is?  Or were they fleeing in terror from the zombie invasion?  Did the Resident Evil movies - or The Sixth Sense, for that matter - take place in New Mexico?  I'm dying to know.

I'm also dying to see some daring journalist ask St. Hussein the question about where they bury survivors after a plane crash.  I honestly have no idea what answer we would get.

Following the usual disgusting laundry list of failed statist twaddle, came this post-regurgitory clucking directed at Darth Queeg:

Obama's camp declined to hit back, with spokesman Bill Burton saying "Memorial Day is a day to honor our nation's veterans, not a day for political posturing."

No, that's Veteran's Day, numbnut.  Is this level of ignorance possible for an ostensibly national, so-called "front-running" presidential campaign?  Or is it all a work accompanied by enough furtive winks at the Ameriphobic fever swamps to make False Messiah look like he's got the mother of all facial tics?

***Shortly thereafter, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Captain Hopeandchange offered up this jaw-dropper:

Where to begin?  First, Obama couldn't have had an uncle in the U.S. Army at all at ANY time because his father was Kenyan and his mother was an only child.  Second, if this phantom uncle served in the European theater during the Second World War, he must have been on loan to the Red Army at the time, because it was the Soviets who liberated Auchwitz in January of 1945, while the Western Allies were still bogged down in Belgium whittling down the "Bulge".  Perhaps an affinity for communism runs in the family?  Was this uncle in the front row at his nephew's Memorial Day address?

Now, to be fair, BO did have a great uncle who was part of General George S. Patton's Third Army that liberated Buchenwald.  Maybe this is a family legend that sprung to Obama's mind and he decided to ad lib with it.  If so, it obviously was one to which he paid scant attention as a child, and was therefore not suitable for off-the-cuff stump speech grist.  Which, in turn, reflects yet again upon his over-touted "judgment," which he has made the cornerstone of why the American people should self-lobotomize themselves and vote for him.

Bet you'll never guess the source of this rebuke:

Granted, it is getting late in the campaign. The candidates are tired, and prone to making silly mistakes. Many Americans might have problems distinguishing Buchenwald and Ohrdruf from Auschwitz. But should we not expect more from a Harvard-educated presidential candidate? Is it too much to ask that an aspiring commander-in-chief knows (1) that Auschwitz (like many of the other Nazi death camps) is in Poland, and (2) that the eastern advance of the U.S. Army in World War II stopped on the river Elbe?

That would be....the Washington Post, ladies and gentlemen.  I guess they think he has it in the bag as well.  Or maybe that's all the more they expect from a guy who thinks that FDR had summit meetings with Hitler and Tojo.

***Oh, and Fidel Castro has now endorsed the Apostle of Extreme.

To answer my question above, there can only be one remaining answer: Democrats are verging on handing their nomination to Barack Hussein Obama because he's black.

Well, that, and because this cycle they could run a head of lettuce and still win.

With BO, they're not that far off.
