Obamalities
There are some who have satirically sought to create an iconical parallel between Senator Barack Hussein Obama and Curious George. Others call that racist. The reality is it's preposterous, because of one simple, straight-forward fact: Obama is not remotely curious, even about issues on which he has cast Senate votes:
C'mon, gentlebeings, that's more embarrassing than any Curious George parallel. BO is "not, uuuuhh, familiar with the Hanford site?" Does he even know where Hanford is? Good grief, McCain didn't sound all that informed on Hanford himself, but he didn't come across like like a bloody tourist to the issue. D'ya also notice how Obama uses the occasion of this latest ignorance exposure to try and implicitly bely his image as an elitist? Smoooooth, Barry, smoooooth.
Remember a few months ago when Senator Barack Hussein Obama was sucking up campaign cash like Megamaid sucking up Druidia's atmosphere? Almost a hundred million smackers in January and February alone! Then, in March and since, emerged Rezkogate, Wrightgate, Weathermengate, and Obama's propensity for gaffes. The reality? Negative publicity is a bitch for fundraising:
The likely Democratic [vice presidential] nominee Obama continues to vastly out-raise Senator John McCain, but the presumed Republican nominee is closing the money gap with the significant help of his party, according to new campaign finance reports filed Tuesday.
McCain disclosed he had $21.7 million in the bank at the end of April, compared to … Obama’s $46.5 million. But the Republican National Committee is proving to be a real financial equalizer for the Arizona senator with the notorious disaste for fundraising.
With significant time and help from President George W. Bush, the RNC ended April with $40.6 million in the bank — ten times more than the Democratic National Committee, which had a modest $4.4 million in the bank.
The Democratic Party’s fund-raising also was a fraction of the Republicans’ in April – a mere $4.7 million, compared to $19.8 million for the RNC.
Never mind McCain's fundraising, which will never be competitive with Rodbama's even with the hapless RNC thrown into the mix. Sailor just looks in the ballpark now because he's not having to actively campaign, while Obama is still locked in his titanic nomination struggle with the Empress. Once the latter is concluded, the vastly superior financial resources of the Left - which aren't remotely tapped out, no matter what Ensign Ed hypothesizes - will unite, re-mobilize, and tsunami the Sith ticket away like so much flotsam.
What is noteworthy is this little passage:
This could push Obama back towards public financing. His donations have tumbled significantly over the last three months. Obama raised $55 million in February, $40 million in March, and now $32 million in April — all significant numbers, but now almost half of his peak.
I can't help noticing the trend, and its coincidence with the bloom falling off of BO's "messianic" rose. Co-, um, incidence? Or perhaps a message to the superduperdelegates that they might want to re-think their messianic leanings, just to be on the safe side?
The final reality? Or the latest one, at least? Once Obama spits out a gaffe like a brick, he pretty much sticks with it:
TAPPER: In recent days it has seemed that some of your staffers and supporters have walked back from your statement that you would be willing to meet with the leaders of rogue nations, countries hostile to the US, without preconditions. Your foreign policy adviser Susan Rice said you wouldn’t necessarily meet with Ahmadinijad, Senator Daschle said of course there would be conditions — (Obama interrupts)
OBAMA: You know Jake, I have to say I completely disagree that people have been walking back from anything. They may be correcting the characterizations or distortions of John McCain or others of what I said. What I said was I would meet with our adversaries including Iran, including Venezuela, including Cuba, including North Korea, without preconditions but that does not mean without preparation….there’s a huge difference.
Barack Hussein Obama is Howard Dean without the scream.
If only the GOP was fielding a Republican opponent in the general election! There's no question what rooting interest I'd have right now.
