Sure Don't Smell Like It's Over

Yeah, the West Virginia primary didn't count for much - just twenty-eight delegates - and Barack Hussein Obama wasn't expected to win there anyway.  But did anybody think his margin of defeat would be more than two to one?:

The Associated Press and television networks projected Clinton as the winner seconds after polls closed, suggesting that surveys that showed her winning by a bruising margin were accurate. With over 40% of the vote in, Clinton held a more than two to one margin.

Clinton, who campaigned energetically in the state, insisted to West Virginians that their vote would still play a role in determining the party’s nominee. “I am more determined than ever to carry on this campaign until everyone has had a chance to make their voices heard,” Clinton told jubilant supporters. “The White House is won in the swing states and I am winning the swing states.”

Exit polls again held signs of concern for Obama as Clinton’s margin was built among a West Virginia electorate that was largely white and working class - a demographic that has so far remained skeptical of Obama’s historic candidacy.

In other words, West Virginia is full of racists who didn't vote for Hillary, but against Obama, because he's black.  But it's perfectly okay if black-heavy states in Dixie vote for Obama because he's black; that's not racism against the white belle of Arkansas at all.  Get ready for that card to be played incessantly for at least four years should BO upset Hillary for the right to butcher the hapless Darth Queeg in November.  If you think this society has been race-obsessed up until now, you ain't seen nothing yet.  Everything an Obama Black House (he'll do everything but that re-designation, at minimum) does will be protected by that PR shield, every scintilla of opposition to every Obama issue stance and policy action will be dismissed as a self-confession of sub-conscious bigotry.  If there are any Republicans who haven't been silenced by the end of a first Obama term, it'll be a major league miracle.  It will be a reign of terror facilitated by an utter dearth of courage.

That seems another reason why Dem superduperdelegates might want to opt for His Holiness.  Bill Clinton ran propaganda rings around the GOP in the '90s, but he still came with all that scandal baggage.  Obama would bring the former without the latter plus the moral supremacism they love so much.  Heck, he could be a bigger horndog than Sick Willie and still never be touched because any condemnation would fall under the same catch-all "racism" umbrella.

But will they?  Sorry, but I remain unconvinced.  Particularly when you figure in the proportional delegate allocation from the seating of the Michigan and Florida delegations, which WILL be seated at the Denver convention (How not in the "count every vote!" party?).  After WV, including those two bellweather swing states brings Mrs. Clinton to within forty-four pledged delegates of False Messiah, and puts her narrowly ahead in the overall popular primary/caucus vote.  If she "runs the table" in the remaining nominating contests, it puts the superduperdelegates in the awkward potential position of "stealing" the nomination from the candidate with the most pledged delegates - Hillary - and handing it to the runner-up - Obama - because he's black.

Can you say "presidential affirmative action"?  And you think there are racial tensions in that party now?

Also, once again, can we dispense with this idiotic notion of Her Nib being "pressured to quit now in order to rescue Obama from the debacle of a swooning finish"?  Mark it down, gentles: HILLARY CLINTON IS NOT GOING TO, NOR WILL SHE EVER, QUIT.  She said it again in her WV victory speech.  She's in this to win - any way she can.  She's already turned this into a racial battle, which, given the counter-bigotry of Obama's "spiritual mentor," is as appropriate as it is inevitable.  If she has to burn down her party to resecure La Clinton Nostra's iron grip upon it, she'll do it.  And if that doesn't resecure it, she'll pave over the ashes in her next set of earmarks.  Indeed, there are even rumors circulating of a Rodham independent run in the fall if Obamanation screws her out of her life's reward (before she can screw Obama).  Does this look like a woman who will bow out gracefully?

How ironic, then, that that is a trait that the two have in common:

What happened to the "unifier," the "messianic figure" who was going to "reach out" and "bridge partisan divides" to "bring us all together" for the "common good"?  Apparently that generosity of spirit is only of the "fair weather" variety.  Though perhaps his silence implicitly endorses the race-based conclusions of the above aforequote, in which case he's belatedly learning the fine art of discretion.

To a point, at least.  While refraining from incendiary self-burial appears to be in his rhetorical skillset, blithering forth his rampaging ignorance is another matter:

Obama posited — incorrectly — that Arabic translators deployed in Iraq are needed in Afghanistan — forgetting, momentarily, that Afghans don’t speak Arabic.

“We only have a certain number of them and if they are all in Iraq, then its harder for us to use them in Afghanistan,” Obama said. ….

No sooner did Obama realize his mistake — and correct himself — but he immediately made another.

“We need agricultural specialists in Afghanistan, people who can help them develop other crops than heroin poppies, because the drug trade in Afghanistan is what is driving and financing these terrorist networks. So we need agricultural specialists,” he said.

So far, so good.

“But if we are sending them to Baghdad, they’re not in Afghanistan,” Obama said.

Iraq has many problems, but encouraging farmers to grow food instead of opium poppies isn’t one of them. In Iraq, oil fields not poppy fields are a major source of U.S. technical assistance.

The only thing BO knows about Iraq and Afghanistan is that he wants to get U.S. troops out of both, and he's indifferent to the factuality of what he has to say to make that happen.

Now I will concede that Team Hussein probably wasn't expecting its adoring media worshippers to blaspheme their god by doing some basic-fact checking on his remarks.  This is the sort of thing that persuades me that they haven't bailed on the Empress completely.  Obamanation's reaction only reinforces that impression:

This report generated immediate push-back from the Obama camp, which ABC included in an update. They insist that the US needs Arabic translators in Afghanistan to deal with foreign fighters, while noting that the US has indeed sent ag experts to Iraq to rebuild the environment for the Marsh Arabs — and those could be used in Afghanistan instead.

David Wright responds by noting a couple of other points that seem to escape Camp Obama. One, the only people speaking Arabic in Afghanistan are the people shooting at NATO troops. The people whom we want to engage to rebuild Afghanistan don’t speak Arabic. Second, the US usually uses locals as translators, so we didn’t rob Peter to pay Paul in translators by invading Iraq, despite Obama’s spurious claims.

The second is that the reason why opium is the major Afghan cash crop instead of, say, strawberries, is because that woebegone hellhole lacks the industrial infrastructure to preserve agricultural products for domestic distribution and foreign export.  And that infrastructure cannot be constructed until al Qaeda and the Taliban are eradicated, both in Afghanistan proper and the northwest provinces of Pakistan.  Opium poppies have no such high-priced prerequisites.

It brings to mind the old saying, attributed to Abraham Lincoln: "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak up and remove all doubt."  Believe it or not, I'm not entirely unfamiliar with arguing oneself into an untenable corner and being left with no ego-saving way out.  The honorable avenue in those uncomfortable pickles is to admit your mistake - which in this case is not so egregious that it would require Obama to abandon his cut & run stance - and move on.  The slithery avenue is to pretend you never uttered the gaffe and hope the PR tempest goes away.  BO opted to dig himself deeper, showing that a principal messianic trait - humility - is nowhere to be found on his character resume.

Perhaps it was replaced by an insipient sexism:

"Hold on a minute, sweetie"?  And then ducking out when she reiterates her question?  Might this not rouse the feminazis out of their slumber and rally the Vagina Brigades, Amazon Battalions, and Lesbo Leagues full, er, throatedly behind their queen, and transform "the year of the Negro" back into the second coming of "the year of the woman"?

Hey, dudes, electing a woman would be at least as "historic" as electing an African-American.  And it would give the Donks a nominee that, whatever else can be said about her, is actually prepared when she, um, opens her mouth.

A realization I can't help thinking a growing number of "supers" will be rediscovering over the next few months.

UPDATE: Surprise!  The Obamanational media cut BO a pass....

Nope, it sure isn't the "Year of the Woman," is it?
