Obama's Johnson Blows In The Wind

Whenever a presidential candidate tries to polish up his/her "populist" credentials by railing against the supposedly universal wickedness of "lobbyists," some degree of hypocrisy is never far behind.

Guess who's no different?:

You think Eric Holder [the man who brokered the Bill Clinton pardon of notorious crook, fixer, and eventual UN-Saddam Oily Food program beneficiary Marc Rich] is an interesting choice for the Obama veep search. But just take a look at Jim Johnson, the former Fannie Mae chief Obama has also chosen for the job. More specifically, look at the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight's May 2006 report on mismanagement and corruption inside Fannie Mae, and you'll see some interesting things about Johnson. Investigators found that Fannie Mae had hidden a substantial amount of Johnson's 1998 compensation from the public, reporting that it was between $6 million and $7 million when it fact it was $21 million.

That's anywhere from 175 to 412 times the salary of the average FNMA employee for running the government "enterprise fund" into the friggin' ground.  As JJ's new boss would say - and has, repeatedly - that's pretty good work if you can get it:

Some CEOs make more in one day than their workers make in one year. There was a story about this in the paper the other day. They did a study and found that the top 50 CEOs made around $15.7 million last year – despite the fact that many of their companies have been falling behind.

We all believe in that fundamental, American value that if you do good work, if you’re successful, you should be rewarded. But if you’re a Wall Street CEO today, it doesn’t seem to matter whether you’re doing a good job or a bad job for your shareholders and workers: You’ll be rewarded either way.

He also got a sweet deal on millions in cut-rate loans from Countrywide - the same lending outfit that Team Hussein tarred & feathered Rodhamite lieutenant Mark Penn for representing as a {*GASP*} lobbyist.

Sure looks like JJ has been rewarded.  One can only imagine the future rewards that await him from President Hussein - Secretary of the Treasury, perhaps?  Or Commerce?  After what Johnson did to FNMA, he'd be a natural fit to implement Obamanomics.

But all sneering aside, why did Lucifer put two fixers on his veep search committee?  Because they're Democrats, they're well-connected in the Beltway, and they're deal-makers, all three qualifications that top any practical list for the task.  Are there no other individuals who meet all three prerequisites and aren't corrupt and incompetent?  In the Democrat Party, probably not.  How about such individuals who are at least of a lower profile so as to make Obama's hilarious two-facedness look at least a little less outrageous?  You have to think it'd be within the realm of possibility.

Oh, but dooooon't question Messiah's unsurpassable "judgment".  Which was on display in garish full-frontal fashion yesterday:

He's not vetting his VP search committee?  The people who will be vetting his potential running mates?  Or is their only criterion, "Don't return Hillary Clinton's phone calls"?

"Tangentially related"?  He didn't tap JJ and Holder and the other whatsis (oh, yeah, Caroline Kennedy) to do his landscaping or clean his pool, for Barack's sake.

"I would have to hire the vetter to vet the vetters"?  No, Your Eminence, YOU are the one that is supposed to "vet your vetters".  The "buck" lands on YOUR desk; that's inherent to the job YOU'RE "interviewing" for, and something you'd better get used to on the off chance that you get it.

That Holder and Johnson are unpaid is not just irrelevant, but all the more questionable, since it creates the inescapable impression that their payoff is coming later, after you're elected.

And so, the question arises:  Just exactly how high is Barack Hussein Obama's hypocrisy threshold, beyond which all but his most brain-washed groupies will take their cynicism back out of mothballs and start tuning out all his "hope and change" stierscheiße?  How many times can he do the slow "This is not the [insert crook/racist/radical/traitor friend's name here] I knew...." backpedal before he finally makes a comedic cliche of himself?  And would that sound any less silly than this attempt at a stonewall?

Even Team Sith, which is hip-deep in its own pit of alligators, mustered enough piss & vinegar to dismiss False Messiah's Johnson-Holder-ing as "preposterous."

Nevertheless, he's stuck with them.  While the stench of his "Beltway business as usual" hypocrisy will become overpowering, after yesterday's defense, if BO about-faces and heaves the pair overboard like he did first Jeremiah Wright, then Michael Pfleger, then Tony Rezko, and now Trinity United Church altogether, he'll minimize that hypocrisy far less than he will exacerbate his image as a weak, feckless, vacillating, flip-flopping panzy even to his own base.

Which, in the most practical of terms, means the Dem superduperdelegates that could still take the nomination away from him and give it to Hillary Clinton, who may be many things, but whose own most recent episode of weak, feckless, vacillating, flip-flopping panzyism is seven months safely in the past.

Naah, he'll batten down the PR hatches and ride it out.  After all, Supermen are indestructible.

Right?

UPDATE: Right:

A leader of Democrat Barack Obama's vice presidential research team has resigned amid criticism over his personal loan deals.

Obama announced in a statement Wednesday that Jim Johnson was stepping aside to avoid distracting from the vetting process.

Barry didn't cut off his Johnson; he held the sword and let JJ fall on it instead.  Now if he can just make Eric Holder disappear, maybe he'll finally get the hang of this process after all.
