Countrywide Was On His Side

Rezkogate and Countrywidegate have now converged, harmonically and seismically:

Presidential nominee Barack Obama joins the list of several other high-profile Democratic Party members who received highly favorable home loans.

Obama, D-IL, reportedly purchased a $1.65 million mansion in Chicago through a “super, super jumbo” loan he received from Northern Trust Bank in Illinois, the Washington Post reports.

The portion of the money financed through the lender ($1.32 million) was offered to the Obamas at an unusually low discount interest rate locked in at 5.625% over the life of the 30-year fixed-rate loan, which was below the average of what a typical Chicagoan pursuing a similar low loan rate received at the time.

For his part, Obama and his camp are defending the lower rate as lender competition for business. A spokesman for the camp says, “The Obamas have since had as much as $3 million invested through Northern Trust."

Okay, this would be seismic if BO were a Republican.  But then if he were a Republican he wouldn't be in the Senate (just ask Michael Steele) and wouldn't be the presidential front-runner.  As it is, the Enemy Media will bury it so deep the worms won't be able to find it.

Still, the cheek of a man who bashes "Big Business" and "corporate America" at every stump opportunity blasphemously touting the merits of the free market when it lines his own pockets, as well as the candidate who spent the primary season flogging lending institutions for the subprime lending mess and its detrimental effects on "working class Americans" benefitting handsomely from their tender, loving care on his own behalf is truly breathtaking.

Lucifer's saving grace will be that his list of legislative accomplishments is so barren that there probably isn't any noteworthy quid pro quo federal investigators can cite to directly link His Eminence with the corruption that swirls around fellow Donks like Senators Chris Dodd, Kent Conrad, his ex-vice presidential vetting team chief James Johnson, former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Alphonso Jackson, former Secretary of Health and Human Services Donna Shalala, and former U.N. ambassador and assistant Secretary of State Richard Holbrooke.

But False Messiah is still titularly presiding over this culture of corruption.  Pity Darth Queeg is so tempermentally disinclined to play hardball with any but his fellow Republicans.  It would be like sport fishing with power saws.
