Footsteps
Herewith, I present you with more evidence that the Democrat presidential primary season is still alive and well, and Barack Hussein Obama's hold on that party's nomination may have the breadth of his manicured fingernails.
Exhibit #1: Clintonoid forces are demanding a floor vote at the convention:
She may have given up, but a few of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s people haven’t.
The senator from New York is said to be negotiating a respectful presence followed by a graceful exit from next month’s Democratic convention, and last week the party announced that Barack Obama would formally accept the party’s nomination in the stadium built for the Denver Broncos. But there are Clinton supporters clinging to the hope that if her name is placed in nomination and the roll call of the states is conducted, she might — might — still win.
Heidi Li Feldman, a Georgetown University law professor, insists there’s still “no way of predicting” the outcome should there be a fair vote. That’s because Obama has not secured enough pledged delegates to ensure the magic number of 2,118 needed to claim victory; the Illinois senator has gone past that benchmark only with the pledges of about 390 superdelegates — and they can change their minds at any time up to the moment they cast their ballots.
There's always that niggling little detail, isn't there? You'd think Lucifer would bear that in mind and not do anything to alienate those superdupers in whose hands the two little, round, & tender symbols of his presidential ambitions still hazardously rest.
Trust me, folks, the Empress has not given up. She's shrewd enough to grasp that the only way she can rise from the alleged ashes and submarine the prize right out from under the Chosen One at this stage of the game is from the bottom up. Whereas her callow rival hasn't figured out that haughy arrogance directed at the aforementioned superdelegates on Capitol Hill isn't the best way of staving off Her Nib's grassroots uprising:
After a brief bout of Obamamania, some Capitol Hill Democrats have begun to complain privately that Barack Obama’s presidential campaign is insular, uncooperative and inattentive to their hopes for a broad Democratic victory in November.
“They think they know what’s right and everyone else is wrong on everything,” groused one senior Senate Democratic aide. “They are kind of insufferable at this point.” …
Privately, however, there is a different message coming from some Democratic quarters on the Hill and on K Street. Some Democratic leadership staffers complain that, having defeated the vaunted Clinton political machine in the primaries, the Obama campaign now feels a “sense of entitlement” that leads to “arrogance.”
The asses in whom Obamanation is making itself a royal pain don't start at the, er, "bottom" either:
[F]or instance, Obama never notified Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi of his plans to change venues at the convention until their staffers heard it on a press conference call. Obama appears in Congressional districts without notifying the candidates, losing them opportunities to appear with the presumptive nominee.
This is where nutroot disgruntlement over Avatar Barry's reversals on FISA and public campaign financing land with both feet as well. If you're head-scratchingly trying to figure out his hopelessly convoluted Iraq meanderings, the fact that bailing on the fever swamps' insisted-upon cut & run stance would be a "strike three" that would trickle up to already miffed superdupers should clarify things considerably.
However, even if Barry the Vampire Slayer finally manages to slay the Hildebeast once and for all as far as the nomination is concerned, he still won't be out of the Clintonoid woods - not by a long shot:
Marc Ambinder reported [Friday] night that a firm close to Hillary Clinton has purchased a new domain name: hrc2012.com. The Markham Group participated in high-level planning for Hillary in 2008, especially her “visual messaging”. Its partners actively worked on the campaign:
Greg Hale of the Markham Group served as a key advance aide to Sen. Clinton, organizing political events for the campaign. The Markham website calls him the “lead consultant for advance and visual messaging.” Partners Paul Neaville and Robert McClarty (the son of former White House chief of staff Thomas “Mack” McClarty) also worked on Clinton’s advance team. According to whois.com, the site was registered by Todd Wilder, a longtime Democratic operative from Florida.
Markham purchased the domain on June 8, which Andrew Malcom sees as an indicator of Hillary’s future plans:
June 8th? Why does that ring a bell? Why, that’s the very next day after her “I-give-up-and-heartily-support Obama” speech where her family was dressed for a funeral.
Can we please dispense with all of Ensign Ed's bet-hedging? First, you're never going to convince me that a micromanager like Mrs. Clinton, who's got more fingers up more rear ends than a Triexian proctologist, isn't aware that her organization has purchased a 2012 campaign domain name. Second, you also can't convince me that she even needs to campaign at all to keep her senate seat as long as she wants it, and couldn't simply use HillaryClinton.com for that purpose. Third, anybody who knows anything about La Clinton Nostra knows they're more than ruthlessly self-centered enough to do whatever it takes to take BO down in the fall so as to clear the decks for 2012, which would be a prerequisite since not even they could deny renomination to Obama once he was elected.
How much damage can the Clinton Machine do to Messiah in the fall if that fail to steal the nomination from him in Denver? Enough to deny him victory in November, particularly if the race remains a close one. Obama's extremism, his arrogance, his bottomless well of gaffes, is raising his leeriness factor through the roof with most voters, if I'm any judge. There won't be many, if any, "Obamicans" in the end, independents will be risk averse (and do have a "maverick" alternative), and with a large chunk of his own party working actively against him, well, the contest that should have been a walkover, and would have been with Mrs. Clinton as the standardbearer, could turn out more dramatically different than anybody imagined.
Talk about shaking things up. When I envisioned this election a year ago, I saw John Sith McCain running as a sour grapes "independent" screwing Fred Thompson or Mitt Romney and facilitating HRC's ascension. But Hillary shivving Obama with Sailor as beneficiary?
God really does work in mysterious ways. Particularly when He's reminding pretenders of Who really is running the universe.
