Modesty

Does anybody else besides I think this plan is more than a little Nuremburgesque?:

Barack Obama will accept the Democratic presidential nomination at Invesco Field at Mile High, a 76,000-seat stadium home to the Denver Broncos, the Democratic National Committee announced Monday.

The party's convention will be held August 25-28 at Denver's Pepsi Center, which holds up to 21,000 people.

No, I'm not breaching Godwinn's Law.  Barack Obama isn't a Nazi, he's the devil, remember?

But seriously, 21,000 in the Pepsi Center isn't enough?  Why not relocate the Donk convention to Dallas so BO can give his acceptance speech in Jerry Jones' mammoth, brand-spanking new $1.1 billion, 120,000-seat gargantuadome?  Imagine the gigantic face banners of Lucifer the Dems could hang all around the outside and plaster all over the inside.  With all the seats they could cram onto the field, they could get - what, a quarter million, maybe even half a million? - crazed, swooning Barry-worshippers into that place and still have room for the roof-high golden statue and the fiery furnace.

Isn't there anybody on Team Hussein with enough sense or perspective (or courage) to realize how....unseemly this notion is?  Sure, anybody who runs for president has to have a massive ego by definition, but hasn't anybody ever sat Messiah down and told him that a little veneer of humility sprinkled upon his public persona could do him a world of PR good?   To say nothing of how stylistically fascistic a spectacle this hubristic idea would create?

It is written, "Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall."  In the prooffered rationale for taking the Ba-ROCK concert to Mile High, the seeds of a humbling have already been sewn:

Construction for the convention was beginning at the Pepsi Center Monday amid concerns about lagging fundraising and cost overruns.

Last month, the convention's host committee reported it was nearly $12 million short of the $40.6 million it had pledged to raise for the effort. Host committee members spoke openly of needing the Obama campaign's help to close the gap.

The decision to move Obama's acceptance speech to the giant football stadium was expected to boost fundraising, convention organizer Jenny Backus said.

One of my old bosses had a pet motto: "When things get tight, expand!"  As you might imagine, his reputation for starting up companies and blowing them up on maximum overdrive until they collapse from undercapitalization is legendary.  It figures that the DNC has adopted that template.  With a month and a half to go they're 30% short of the funds they need just to put on this shindig in the Pepsi Center; now they want to move the final night next door to an outdoor facility (think security nightmare) nearly four times as large?  And they expect their assumed nominee to make up the difference?

The German National Socialists of seventy years ago didn't have to rely on marketing gimmicks to fill up their mass rallies.  President Hussein won't either, for similar reasons, but candidate Hussein?  For my money, I would think a packed Pepsi Center would project a much better impression than a half-empty Invesco Field.  And if he does sell out the latter?

Well, how do you say "sieg heil!" in Ebonic?

UPDATE: If you ever doubted whether there was such a thing as civic sacrilege, look no further (via CS):

For all that we lampoon Barry O as "messiah" and "light-bringer" and so forth, outrageous graffiti like this piece of urban blight (in Boston, as it happens) serve as a distasteful and unsettling reminder that this garbage originated with his slavish, cultish followers, who really, truly believe it.  The scariest part is, so does he.
