He Does Not Belong To Us

I will openly and freely acknowledge that this silliness did not exactly evoke the spirit of Christian charity:

Focus on the Family Action has pulled a video from its Web site that had asked people to pray for "rain of biblical proportions" during Senator Barack Obama's acceptance speech at Invesco Field on August 28.

The political arm of Focus on the Family pulled the video Monday after a number of complaints from Focus members.

Stuart Shepard, the director of digital media for the group, wrote and starred in the video that he described as "mildly humorous."

In the video, Shepard called for Christians to pray for "abundant, torrential" rains during the Democratic nominee's acceptance speech in order to disrupt it. He had asked Christians to pray for rain that would create flash flood warnings and "swamp the intersections."

In the video, Shepard said he hoped the rain would start "two minutes before the acceptance speech begins." [emphasis added]

Well, you know that old saying: "Be careful what you wish for; you may get it."  Now I will admit that I wouldn't have been completely unamused had The One gotten caught in a sudden passing squall or three, as I would have been interested to see him raise and part his arms and redirect the precipitation all around the outer perimeter of Invesco Field.  I doubt his cultists would have noticed either way.

But given the insulting leftish charicature of evangelicals that pervades the popular culture already, a stunt like this just makes us look buffoonish, in addition to childishly petty.  A thought that doubtless occurred to the Focus On The Family members who got on the blower to FOTFAction and, well, raised hell about it.

Who, then, in the same spirit of divine mercy and lovingkindness, is going to give this Hutt the hook?:

Speaking of Star Wars-ing far left assholes, wouldn't Olby make a good General Grievous?  And wouldn't all of you love to be Obi Wan Kenobi?  Figuratively speaking, of course....

One other stray thought: If Hurricane Gustav finishing the job Hurricane Katrina started is "evidence that there is a God in heaven," why was the Indiana Ocean Tsunami in December 2004 "evidence" that God is dead?

I suppose Jabba's "hope that no one dies" is what is supposed to pass for "Christian" charity.  But then Stuart Shepard didn't exactly pray for False Messiah to get struck by lightning, either.  And the worst "heap of destruction" he hoped for in Denver was "swamped intersections".  Moore is rooting for New Orleans to be completely obliterated so his party can blame it on the Republicans.  Which would seem to qualify The Blob for Olby's "Worst Slug In The World" award, or would if "Fat, Drunk, & Stupid" wasn't already one of his.

Add Barack Obama to that list, BTW, if he doesn't immediately go to the Big Easy and "rebuke the winds and the waves," and break up Gustav instantaneously, so that the American people can exclaim, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!", and he can reply, "I am The One, and I approve this message."

Sounds like the next McCain ad, doesn't it?

UPDATE: And no, it isn't just Michael Moore:

I guess somebody will have to explain to me how one national political party openly and publicly "praying" for another Category 5 hurricane to destroy a major American city is supposed to damage the prospects of the other national political party.  Does this mean the Dems are giving up on Obama carrying Louisiana?

JENNIFER adds:

If you are easily nauseated, avoid this video at all costs. In it, Jabba Moore does what he does best - spew bile and hatred while trying to be relevant and intellectual. What an ass.
