Hell Hath No Fury....
This feud certainly goes back a lot farther than this, but in hindsight it's looking like the last point at which peace could have been brokered.
And I'm NOT talking about Russia and Georgia (via Newsmax Insider):
Hillary and Bill Clinton are privately fuming about the second-class treatment they have received from Democratic presumptive nominee Barack Obama.
When Obama and Hillary "kissed" and made up during their unity rally in June, both made a private pledge to each other to help raise $500,000 from their donors for the other's campaign.
Though deep in debt, Hillary quickly fulfilled her promise. But cash-rich Obama has yet to cough up the dough from his backers.
"Hillary has done her part in that regard," a Hillary adviser told Time. "Obama has not."
Yes, I won't deny it, it is deliciously ironic to see the Clintons get double-crossed for a change. Heck, I'm amazed that Hillary kept her end of the bargain, even though it was in her self-interest to do so. Goes to show that she isn't quite a "congenital liar" after all. Or, put another way, she can be honest - when it pays.
But in this case, it didn't. Which is even more of a "what goes around, comes around" moment.
And just to complete the "blue plate special" dis, we can't leave out Mr. Bill getting left out:
Then there was the warm and fuzzy call between Bill Clinton and Obama. Obama told Clinton he wanted to sit down with the popular former president, the most successful Democratic president since FDR. But Clinton aides say Obama has never folowed up on the verbal invitation.
Wow. Bill Clinton getting treated like...well, like Bill Clinton is used to treating everybody else? I can just hear Billary's joint outraged thought: "Who does that [racial expletive omitted] think he is? Me???"
What goes around, comes around, indeed. And what has come around just might be going back, at a much greater velocity:
Supporters of Hillary Clinton are planning a number of rallies at the Democratic national convention in Denver to express their disappointment with the party’s presidential primary process.
The Denver Group, formed by two Clinton backers, has filmed a TV commercial and scheduled a large reception in Denver for August 26.
Another pro-Clinton group, Eighteen Million Voices, is organizing a march on that day in Denver “and nationwide to support Senator Clinton and advocate for women’s rights worldwide,” according to its Web site.
Some [?] of the Denver Group’s goals are at odds with those of the Democratic Party, The Hill newspaper reports. It wants an open convention, with Hillary’s name placed in nomination, as well as a genuine roll call vote with Clinton as a legitimate candidate instead of what it calls a “coronation” of Barack Obama.
Clinton backers in Denver will hold signs reading, “Denounce Nobama’s Coronation,” according to the Denver Post.
Yeah! How dare that [racial expletive omitted] try to coronate himself! That's Hillary's gimmick!
The Empress's diehards must think they've got momentum, judging by the delightfully disingenuous spin they put on why they're pushing so hard in not giving up:
“Clinton and many of her backers believe that, if there is a strategy of recognizing the New York senator’s delegates at the convention, it would be a cathartic experience and lead to a more unified Democratic Party.”
Um,no. The reason they want her delegates recognized and her name placed in nomination is because they believe they can flip enough Obama superduperdelegates to tilt the floor vote in Mrs. Clinton's favor and hand her the nomination instead. And, failing that, they can so humiliate Team Hussein by undermining his "coronation" that he'll be wounded throughout the fall home stretch. Or, rather, he'll suffer wounds that, for a change, will not be self-inflicted. But the last, and I mean LAST, thing on the minds of La Clinton Nostra is unifying the Democrat Party behind the man that they will always see as an upstart usurper.
Yeah, I was the guy who said that there's no way Hillary Clinton could lose the 2008 Democrat nomination. Having witnessed Nightspring's campaign performance over the course of the summer, I feel ironically vindicated in that view, even if it doesn't pan out. But remember, I also predicted that if Her Nib couldn't avoid defeat, her Samson complex would make sure that Barry O never made it to their gigantic white double-wide. I'd say that dynamic is unfolding right according to plan.
Besides, it's not as though there wouldn't still be a Democrat in the White House for the next four years....
