To The Return Window!
I'm telling you, boys and girls, never, but NEVER, declare the opera over until the fat lady stops singing:
Note to AP: Oh no, she has NOT "got[ten] beat by a better candidate." First, because Obama is not a better candidate, and only became the "assumptive" nominee because of an early primary season winning streak that built up a delegate cushion just barely big enough to stave off his near-total collapse coming down the stretch in April, May, and June; and second, because that margin is secured by superdelegate votes that ARE NOT FINAL until they are actually cast at the convention itself. And I will guarantee you that this call to put the Empress' name in nomination is not just Clintonoid catharsis, but a ploy to stage a bona fide coup.
Now, of course, if Obama's grey matter is even a faint shadow of his 'roided up "self-esteem," he'll never allow this. Why take the chance? Why stick False Messiah's neck through the noose if there's the slightest possibility that La Clinton Nostra has secretly commandeered the trap-door lever? Especially as if anybody could pull off such a switcheroo, it'd be the Arkansas Mafia.
And especially since BO has given the superdupers so many reasons to go crawling back to Hillary while there's still time:
So, everyone is puzzled why the Democratic candidate isn’t at least 10 points ahead. It seems the more Americans get used to Barack Obama, the less they want him as president — and the more Democrats will soon regret not nominating Hillary Clinton.
VDH counts the ways - Obama's coitere of racist, Marxist, and terrorist mentors; his own burgeoning race-baiting and congenital elitism; his incompetent lunges at issue triangulation that make John Kerry's 2004 flip-flopping look like granitic, monolithic ideological steadfastness; his gaffe-proneness when not in front of a teleprompter that makes Howard Dean appear more verbally disciplined than Richard Nixon and Obama himself more senile than Ronald Reagan was depicted as being in the vilest Donk caricaturizations.
If I may take the baton for a few 'graphs, there's this indulgence of lunacy:
A query borne of extreme Left paranoia, and Obama calls it "legitimate"? He couldn't have offered an institutional defense of our form of government against such slander without blasting that nutter out of the water like he deserved to be? But of course, who else would be more eager to attend an Obamafest anymore, and who else would serve him up such a softball?
How about this undisciplined lapse into snippiness when his interviewer failed to bow down and worship him?:
A journalist asks His Eminence a tough but perfectly legitimate question - one, I might add, that he more than brought upon himself through his own scattershot rhetoric and zig-zagging evasiveness - and that makes the guy "John McCain's proxy"? Which is doubly ironic since Obama is scared pissless of being on the same stage with the Dark Lord of the Sith, something that speaks darkly to his view of himself, his own candidacy - Morals are for men, not gods! - and what he plans to do with the power of the office he seeks.
And then there's Lucifer's glib reply to a little girl's question of why he's running for president:
"America is …, uh, is no longer, uh … what it could be, what it once was"? Logically, the sentence is a non sequitur; nothing can "no longer be what it could be" because something that could be has not been yet. Something can "no longer be what it once was," but what did America used to be that it no longer is that makes our present time worse than that unreferenced past time? Only thing I can think of from Obama's point of view is the 1960s, the Great Society, the Days of Rage, the self-inflicted Vietnam trauma, and the "Days of Malaise" that were the Jimmy Carter penance. Those are his "good ol' days," when Democrats ran the country - straight into the f'ing ground.
No wonder he didn't go into that detail. But his oblique sixties nostaglia still came across is self-serving gloom & doom, as though he's got to talk down the country - and by extention the voters - more and more and more in order to sell his original "hopeandchange" gimmick. And that prompted him to tell a seven-year-old that her country sucks, always has sucked, and always will suck unless and until her mommy and daddy and several tens of millions of other sheeple elect him president of the United States, after which he'll wave his magic wand and make it all better. And then rest on the seventh day, no doubt.
Couldn't St. Barry have rifled through his mental cliche roladex and thrown out something like "Because I love our country" or "Because I want to help people like you and your family"? That's what Bill Clinton would have done - hell, in presidential debates you could almost literally SEE him doing it. Isn't that what Hillary Rodham Clinton would have done? Would she have committed ANY of these boners? Her five backflips in ninety seconds on illegal immigration last November not withstanding, it's hard to imagine that she would. As flawed, corrupt, power-mad, shrill, and abrasive a shrew as the Chappaqua cauldron-stirrer is, I don't think there's any reasonable doubt that she would have carved up Maverick like a rump roast in a cycle as lopsidedly pro-Donk as this one. All it would have taken is the very things Barack Hussein Obama lacks: prudence, discipline, and discretion.
Concluded VDH:
If the polls are right, a public tired of Republicans is beginning to think an increasingly bothersome Obama would be no better — and maybe a lot worse. It is one thing to suggest to voters that they should shed their prejudices, eat less, and be more cosmopolitan. But it is quite another when the sermonizer himself too easily evokes race, weekly changes his mind, and often sounds as if he doesn’t have a clue what he’s talking about.
In a tough year like this, Democrats could probably have defeated Republican John McCain with a flawed, but seasoned candidate like Hillary Clinton. But long-suffering liberals convinced their party to go with a messiah rather than a dependable nominee — and thereby they probably will get neither.
Unless the superdupers come to their senses, that is. For a party that stopped itself at the last moment from nominating Howard Dean and suffering an electoral massacre four years ago, it is less unlikely than you might think that buyers remorse could kick in in time to avert yet another defeat in a cycle in which Donk hegemony should be inevitable.
Until the fat lady has the metaphorical stake driven through her flinty black heart on the floor of the Pepsi Center in two weeks, it's still not too late.
