Eco-Friendly Patriotism

I guess Old Glory just can't hold a candle to the Jemimah Glory....

This morning, Republicans tell me that a worker at Invesco Field in Denver saved thousands of unused flags from the Democratic National Convention that were headed for the garbage. Guerrilla campaigning. They will use these flags at their own event today in Colorado Springs with John McCain and Sarah Palin.

Before McCain speaks today, veterans will haul these garbage bags filled with flags out onto the stage — with dramatic effect, no doubt — and tell the story.

I guess you could say the Republicans are [AHEM] practicing good recycling.

Alas, another "distraction" for St. Barack.  But have no fear, Obamanoids, your Messiah has an alibi - although it's rather Bart Simpsonesque:

Stories circulating about flags from the Democratic National Convention are false. More than 125,000 American-made flags were distributed at the Convention - any flags removed from the Convention after the event were taken without authorization.  It’s disappointing that someone would take American flags without authorization and then falsely describe their intended purpose. We have the utmost respect for the American flag and it’s sad to see them being used for a cheap political stunt.

"Removed from the Convention after the event" to be hauled to the nearest landfill, or "removed from the Convention after the event" as in liberated from a mass Hefty bagged grave to the GOP?  I take it we're supposed to assume the former, in which case Team Hussein is awfully lax in enforcing their authority to ensure proper disposal of these flags.  But according to Ensign Ed, the flags were “bundled” (in Hefty bags???) for return to their manufacturer, as opposed to, say, being utilitized by the Obama campaign for its live events between now and Election Day.

Why would the Dems want to return 12,000 American flags?  Is that their idea of "fiscal responsibility," or do they just consider Old Glory to be disposable?

Either way, those symbols of our country sat there for over a week, abandoned and forgotten.  If that's not purposeful flag desecration, it certainly qualifies as benign neglect, and once again shows the contempt they have for everything that flag represents.

Say, you don't suppose Barry's flag pins were in that pile too, do ya?
