The Weekly Hardon (2/17/09)

From the Washington Beat of Townhall's incendiary Amanda Carpenter:

OBAMA TO SIGN STIMULUS BILL: President Barack Obama will sign the $787 billion stimulus bill this evening in a prime time event at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.

First impressions:

***He wants to not just sign Hogzilla but announce that the economy is, not "saved," but on the road to salvation.  This isn't the end of Red Barry's gusher of debt and communist meststasization by a long shot; why do you think that the first thing the Obamunists did after Hogzilla passed was suddenly get realistic about its likely effects after spending their first month in power shrieking about an economic apocalypse of it wasn't crammed down our throats?

***He wants to keep Colorado in his column in 2012, as well as maximize the chances of retaining Ken Salazar's old Senate seat that will be a top GOP pickup prospect in next year's midterms.

And, sho'nuff....:

HOUSING ON DECK: Obama's next agenda item is to pass a massive housing bill to deliver more than $50 billion to further subsidize banks and bail out homeowners who can't afford their mortgages. Obama's will hold an event to release the details of his plan on Wednesday in Phoenix, Arizona.

ANOTHER BAILOUT FOR GENERAL MOTORS: ABC News reported Monday evening the Obama Administration has decided to send General Motors another $4 billion to help their company stay afloat. GM already benefited from a $17.4 billion bailout, shared with Chrysler, signed by former President Bush last December.

What this is, gentlebeings, is an all out fiscal blitzkrieg.  Not for the purpose of economic recovery, but for growing the government as much and as fast as possible in this two year window of opportunity, just as FDR did with the New Deal in 1933-34 and LBJ did with the Great Society in 1965-66 when both of them had lopsidedly Donk Congressional majorities.  Though they'd never publicly admit it, Red Barry and Crazy Nancy and Dirty Harry know that the pendulum is going to swing back in 2010 and 2012, at least far enough to make the realization of their dreams of a United Soviet Socialist States of America impossible.  If they can finish the job FDR and LBJ started over the next twenty months, the GOP's will return to power will be rendered functionally pyrrhic, as history shows that government never, EVER shrinks.

Oh, wait, I guess Raum Emanual did publicly admit this right after the election, didn't he?

ANOTHER BIG LABOR LAYER: Given the clout Big Labor has over the Democratic party and the upcoming "card check" legislation Senator Roland Burris (D.-IL) could be voting on soon, Burris's recently disclosed discussions with labor leader Ed Smith warrant further inquiry.

Burris initially swore he had "no contact" with disgraced Governor Rod Blagojevich regarding his appointment to President Obama's vacated Senate seat, but now he's "remembering" more details. Burris recently updated his affidavit to the Illinois state house revealing he discussed the appointment with labor leader Ed Smith, who Burris described "as a friend and supporter of the former governor's." In addition to being close to the Governor, Smith is president of the union insurance provider ULLICO, Inc. and alderman of the 28th ward in Chicago.

Burris said he initiated the conversation by calling Smith. "I asked Smith whether I had any chance of to be appointed to the Senate seat," Burris said.

This is the second labor leader to be implicated with the appointment. U.S. Attorney Patrick's Fitzgerald's criminal complaint against Governor Blagojevich said the governor engaged in discussions with his chief of staff and an unnamed SEIU official about a "three way" deal to make Blagojevich head of an SEIU-affiliated organization called "Change to Win" in exchange for appointing the SEIU's preferred candidate. The SEIU official was later identified as Tom Balanoff, who acted as "an emissary" for Valerie Jarrett.

And then there's the matter of "Senator" Burris never bothering to mention to the Illinois state legistature's impeachment inquiry being hit up by ex-Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich for ten grand in exchange for Red Barry's vacated U.S. Senate seat using Blago's brother Rob as the bagman.  Something that Ensign Ed is calling "If....not perjury....at least obstruction of justice," and has Donks down to and including Keith Olbermann running for the tall grass.

But, tellingly, not Burris' famous senatorial predecessor or any of his Donk Senate colleagues, who are only capable of seeing "evil" on the other side of the aisle.
