Don't Let The Bastard Win

Join the Battle Against Socialized Medicine!

Liberals in Congress want more government control over the economy, and more control over your decisions and lives. They want to tell you what kind of health
insurance you can buy, and what you can and can't eat or drink. And they want to raise your taxes by hundreds of billions of dollars to pay for all of these government controls, mandates and subsidies. We are at a crossroads in this country where we can either turn left toward a European, socialist society where the government controls the people, or toward a more free society where the people control the government. The direction we take is up to all of us as American citizens.

Starting this weekend, Congress will be on its Memorial Day Recess, and Members will be back in their states trying to convince constituents how much they've done for them. This provides an excellent opportunity for you to corner lawmakers on the biggest economic issues facing our country right now, including the prospect of government-run health care. We need to ask them the tough questions, and hold them accountable for their votes, whatever their public rhetoric.

Unfortunately, liberals in Congress want to crowd out the private health insurance market and install a Canadian-style health care system that would be run about as efficiently as the post office. Instead of allowing individuals to make their own decisions about their health care, liberals want to set up a bureaucracy to ration care to those they deem most worthy. This kind of system would be a tragic mistake, and would cost Americans both in terms of money and lives.

That is why I am sending you this message with some ideas about how we can stop the socialist agenda before it threatens the very liberty that this country was founded on. We have put together an activist tool kit that you can use to make a real difference in the policy debates on Capitol Hill. Please
TAKE ACTION NOW to become an active participant in the fight against socialized medicine.

Early next week we will send out another email with the key targets on the Senate Finance Committee that need to hear from you. There are a bunch of bad ideas
floating around about how to pay for government-run health care. One idea is to tax beverages, everything from soda and sports drinks, to beer, wine and liquor. We need to kill this idea for a funding mechanism even before it sees the light of day.
TAKE ACTION NOW to download our activist tool kit and get ready to blitz our seven Senate targets with phone calls next week!

Sincerely,
Dick Armey
Chairman
