Your Rights as a Patient are Threatened
Most Americans like gifts that keep on giving. Unfortunately, gifts from Washington end up taking away.
Your ability to make your own choices as a patient are at risk. Your help is urgently needed to preserve patients' rights.
One of President Barack Obama's first acts upon taking office was to provide $1.1 billion through his stimulus package for a national health care board titled the Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research (FCCCER) modeled after a board in the U.K. called the National Institute for Clinical Excellence or NICE. NICE's role started out as limited to appraising health care outcomes, but NICE recommendations and guidelines are used to deny coverage to British citizens on a daily basis. NICE relies on the evaluation from the Orwellian-sounding "quality-adjusted life year" (QALY) to determine if a medical intervention is a "reasonable value for money." In effect, QALYs are used to mathematically calculate the value of a patient's life.
Government-Run Healthcare is Imminent
Many in Congress seem determined to complete a government takeover of healthcare here in the United States.
At Conservatives for Patients' Rights, we're fighting for sensible healthcare reform that allows doctors and patients to make their own decisions without the government telling them what to do. We know that Americans won't tolerate rationing and long waiting lists.
The victims of government-run healthcare in the UK and Canada provide powerful evidence that should deter Congress from handing the keys to patients care to government bureaucrats. CPR has created a video featuring the voices of these real-life victims of government healthcare control.
Government-Run Healthcare Threatens Choices,
Rations Care, Leads to Long Waits
We need your help to make sure that all Americans hear the stories of the real-life victims of government-run healthcare who have experienced its pitfalls: long lines, fewer choices, and rationed care. The voices of these patients must be heard.
We will soon be debuting this 30 minute video by buying time on national cable TV networks to go directly to the American people with our message. We want all Americans to be able to hear these voices of truth for themselves.
Congress must listen to the voices of these victims before they vote for government-run healthcare.
Advocates of Government-Run Healthcare
Plan to Spend $40 Million to Win
The fight will not be an easy one. The forces for government control are pulling out all the stops to prevent our message from being heard, including:
- The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) tried unsuccessfully to get CNN's lawyers to take our ads off the air.
- Health Care for America Now, a liberal lobbying group, has resorted to mud-slinging and name-calling, even going so far as to pay for personal attack ads against me. And they claim to have $40 million at their disposal to get their way.
We will not resort to personal attacks because the voices of the victims of government-run health care speak for themselves.
Help Stop Government-Run Healthcare
We need your help to preserve patients' rights here in America by protecting the choices that average Americans can make about their own healthcare.
The New York Times reports that proponents of government-run healthcare will spend more than $40 million to force their plans through Congress.
Would you be willing to join me in this fight and make a contribution of $25, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1000 or even more to CPR Education, our charitable affiliate*? Any amount you can give would go a long way toward helping us get the message out.
As a special thank you, if you contribute $50 or more, we will send you a free copy of the 30 minute video we will be releasing soon that tells the story of the victims of government-run health care.
Sincerely,
Rick Scott
Chairman
