America’s biggest oil companies will probably cope with U.S. carbon legislation by closing fuel plants, cutting capital spending and increasing imports.

Under the Waxman-Markey climate bill that may be voted on today by the U.S. House, refiners would have to buy allowances for carbon dioxide spewed from their plants and from vehicles when motorists burn their fuel. Imports would need permits only for the latter, which ConocoPhillips Chief Executive Officer Jim Mulva said would create a competitive imbalance.

“It will lead to the opportunity for foreign sources to bring in transportation fuels at a lower cost, which will have an adverse impact to our industry, potential shutdown of refineries and investment and, ultimately, employment,” Mulva said in a June 16 interview in Detroit. Houston-based ConocoPhillips has the second-largest U.S. refining capacity.

The same amount of gasoline that would have $1 in carbon costs imposed if it were domestic would have 10 cents less added if it were imported, according to energy consulting firm Wood Mackenzie in Houston. Contrary to President Barack Obama’s goal of reducing dependence on overseas energy suppliers, the bill would incent U.S. refiners to import more fuel, said Clayton Mahaffey, an analyst at RedChip Cos. in Maitland, Florida.

“They’ll be searching the globe for refined products that don’t carry the same level of carbon costs,” said Mahaffey, a former Exxon Corp. refinery manager.

One in six U.S. refineries probably would close by 2020 as the cost of carbon allowances erases profits, according to the American Petroleum Institute, a Washington trade group known as API. Carbon permits would add 77 cents a gallon to the price of gasoline, said Russell Jones, the API’s senior economic adviser.

Maybe they should have called it "Tax Here, Tax Now, Tax More".  On the other hand, it might just create booms in the cave dwelling and hippity-hop markets.

Besides, do you really think that replacing eight Republican apostates with eight Democrat extremists will improve a blessed policy thing from a center-right perspective?  And, more to the immediate point, do you seriously believe that Crazy Nancy couldn't have camel-clutched a few more "Blue Dogs" into voting "yea" if a refreshing absence of "bipartisanship" had made it necessary?

Remember how we got into this perilous predicament in the first place: tighty-righties grown so complacent about the supposed effortlessness of shucking off and putting on political power like a suit jacket that they helped torpedo their own majorities in 2006 for the sin of [drumroll please] "overspending".  One would think that looking at the fiscal apocalypse they wrought, those same tighty-righties would be looking back fondly upon those days of frugal sanity and humbly at the horrific economic consequences of their own arrogance.

Guess not.  Instead, Pachyderm cannibalism will evidently grisle on until there's nothing left of the Grand Old Party but fond, fading memories.

Ironic indeed that it would save False Messiah a lot of the trouble.  Makes me wonder if there's ANYbody in this party who truly is on its side.

I am just sick about this Mark Sanford thing. Yeah, the usual suspects are making a big deal about him being a Republican and how much this hurts and how it's another hit for the GOP, blah blah blah. If he had been a Democrat, you would have to dig to find that out, but I digress. He did mess up, big time. He's a jerk. I thought he was one of the "good guys," a real conservative who could be a leader in the Republican party. While all that is a tragedy, what is *really* tragic is what he has done to his family. Can you imagine the pain and humuliation his wife is going through right now? It's hard to believe a man can do that to someone he professes to love. Pray for her.

JASmius adds: If Governor Sanford were a Democrat, Bill Clinton would already be rallying the nation behind his heroic faithlessness and basing his next re-election campaign on the burgeoning groundswell of public sympathy for him - because as we're all supposed to remember from the '90s, "Everybody does it".  At the very least, Sanford would have a successful second career waiting for him as an "Infidelitous-American" activist championing the rights of scumbag married wickdippers everywhere.

Let's get several things straight about this:

1) The only persons against whom Mark Sanford has sinned in his adulteries are God and Mrs. Sanford.  If he is not a Christian and confesses and repents of his sins by calling on the Name of the LORD, he will be saved; if he already is a Christian and confesses and repents of his sins, he has already been forgiven and will be restored to divine fellowship.  It is up Mrs. Sanford as to whether or not she forgives her husband, but if she is a Christian she is both obligated and admonished scripturally to do so - because God first died for us.

2) Sins can be forgiven, but that doesn't guarantee that there won't still be temporal consequences from them.  The voters of South Carolina were not wronged by Mark Sanford's infidelities; they were wronged by Mark Sanford's dereliction of the public trust and the responsibilities it invested in him to faithfully execute his duties as governor.  Whether or not he resigns his current term, his political career is finished.

3) How is it that Governor Sanford had this habit of clandestinely "going walkabout" and no opposition researcher ever managed to unearth this rather "unorthodox" personality quirk?  And how did he end up "grazing in another pasture" in a different freaking hemisphere?  Talk about your long distance relationships.

4) Guess he didn't have the 2012 fire after all if he thought so little about his prospects for a successful presidential run that he chose instead an illicit affair that was, by what I've read, consummated a grand total of three times in eight years.  Either "Don't Cry For Me, Argentina" really was his "dream girl," or the sex was more mind-blowing than anything he could have lined up in the White House.

As to the timing of the revelation, it could have been a lot worse - i.e. three years from now after Sanford was the presumptive GOP nominee, if you think he was that viable a candidate.

President Barack Obama is set to sign into law an anti-smoking bill that will give the Food and Drug Administration unprecedented authority to regulate tobacco.

Obama is scheduled to sign the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act during an event Monday in the Rose Garden. The law allows the FDA to reduce nicotine in tobacco products, ban candy flavorings and block labels such "low tar" and "light." Tobacco companies also will be required to cover their cartons with large graphic warnings.

I'm sorry, where in the Constitution does it give the government the right to do this? And won't the busybody small-minded liberals be happy?! You'll do as we want or we'll MAKE you, by golly! Meanwhile, in Iran, innocent people are dying because of their thirst for freedom, something which America should be supporting with everything we have. JASmius adds: The wars we "can't get into" because we "can't afford them" tend to be the ones that find us anyway and become far more expensive than they would otherwise if we took them on on our own terms and schedule.  I seem to recall from twentieth century history a global conflagration that could have been prevented by the French sending a division or two to chase the Wermacht back behind the Rhine River in 1936.  But they refrained because they and the Brits rationalized Hitler's re-militarization of the Rhineland with objections eerily similar to "they have the right to use their own territory as they choose" and "we can't afford [another] war."  The results of that "prudence" were vastly more expensive.

But hope springs eternal, as they say, and foolish hope(andchange) most of all.  For Barack Obama, however, it isn't "hope," it's megalomaniacal certainty.  If we had a media establishment that understood its constitutional role as watchdog instead of obsequious propaganda bitch, somebody would ask False Messiah the equivalent question Bernard Shaw once asked Michael Dukakis twenty-one years ago: "If Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had a machine gun pointed at Michelle and your little girls, would you still be unalterably convinced that 'talking' and 'diplomacy' were the "ultimate solutions"?  He'd laugh it off as a ridiculous analogy or simply lie, but the truth is that it isn't so much that he necessarily believes, as Neville Chamberlain did of Hitler, that Ahmadinejad and the mullahgarchy he fronts are "reasonable men" with whom he can "do business"; rather, he believes that HE, by the divine power of his melifluous oratory, can transform Adolph and the Turbans into "reasonable men" by praising them and bowing down to them and telling them everything they want to hear and giving them everything they want (i.e. Israel binding and gagging itself and delivering itself to Tehran for butchering at the Geico Caveman's convenience).

In the strictest sense, Obama does not believe himself to be practicing appeasement; he believes that by becoming our enemies we can transform them into benign theocratic fascists who will agree not to threaten the world with nuclear weapons.  And if it takes looking the other way when the mullahs employ a massacre every once in a while to maintain their iron grip on power, well, what's that to him - or us?  Barry can relate; heck, he may need to do something similar three years from now.  Keeping quiet about the Iranian crackdown now is a favor he can call in later.

President Hussein is not "one of us," in other words; he's "one of them".  But they won't take him - seriously or otherwise.

And that's what's going to get us into a "war we can't afford".

Excuse my mastery of the obvious, but I have to believe the greatest obstacle to America's return to policy sanity is the electorate's cultish adoration of Barack Obama.

If it weren't for this disturbing phenomenon -- not to discount a healthy dose of blind partisanship -- it is inconceivable that the majority of people would tolerate Obama's dismantling of America's free market system, his returning America to a pre-9/11 mindset against terrorists, his increasing usurpations of power, and his corrupt ties and practices, from the public funding of ACORN to the summary dismissal of the case against the Black Panthers to his firing of inspector general Gerald Walpin apparently for uncovering corruption by Obama's friends.

Limbaugh echoes in his latest column the phenomenon that has completely befuddled me since this false Messiah came on the scene...what IS it about him that people find so entrancing? Why are people willing to fall all over themselves, abandon all objectivity and thought, and just blindly believe in him? This is the kind of thing that keeps me up at night. I don't see it, I just don't see it.

JASmius adds: What was Jimmy Carter's public approval rating in June of 1977?  How'd his presidency turn out?  And he wasn't anywhere near as domestically ambitious or destructive as B.O. is.

His policies already have majorities aligned against them.  His own numbers are beginning to follow because he has no answers for their across-the-board failure and his incompetent lying is cratering his credibility.  It is inevitable.

What's concerning is what he might do once his popularity sinks below 50% and the direction of his presidency is undeniably (outside the Obamedia, anyway) careening toward disaster.  Might that be the dog-wagging trigger for his long-ridiculed invasion of Pakistan?  Or will he just throw caution to the wind and contrive some sort of national emergency - say, a fresh Islamist mass-casualty terror strike that his neopacifism invited - to make formal his de facto suspension of the Constitution and seize total power directly?

Sound far-fetched?  It shouldn't when you really stop and think about it.  Those familiar with my sysopric on the old Compuserve Republican Forum know my prediction from 2000 that if Al Gore didn't win the "third Clinton term," Mr. Bill was liable to simply refuse to relinquish the presidency citing his continued inexplicable high approval ratings as a de facto public plebescite.  "Bowing to the will of the people" is how it would have been spun.  That scenario didn't quite happen, but what we did get - Fat Albert's post-election attempted coup-by-lawsuit - wasn't far off.  And the decade-long, mind-frying partisan rage it ignited on the extreme Left - exacerbated all the more by George W. Bush's successful prosecution of the War Against Islamic Fundamentalism they didn't want to fight and his consequent 2004 re-election - eventually regained the Democrats total power on Capitol Hill and the White House.  It is inconceivable to me that they and their "god" are going to simply amble obliviously along toward 2010 and 2012 in a, well, Republicanesque fashion, take their electoral beatings, meekly surrender back the power that is their very reason for existence, and shuffle off back into opposition while Sarah Palin becomes the American Thatcher.

That's not to say that that won't be the bottom-line result at the ballot box in this cycle and the next.  That is to say that Godbama and the Legion of Doom are not, shall we say, going to go gentle into that good night.  Rather, they will rage, RAGE, against the dying of the light - and no tradition, no morality, no ethical standard, no law, and maybe not even scruples against using nuclear weapons against the American people before Mahmoud Ahmadinejad can will be allowed to stand in their way.

Take a close look at the popular uprising against the mullahgarchy in Iran that Red Barry is scrupulously ignoring.  That might be a sneak preview of our own political future just three years and change from now.

It happened last night. There was debate on the floor of the House over some amendments to a spending bill. The amendments were offered by Republicans and concerned funding for ACORN and an investigation into Nancy Pelosi's problems with the CIA.

As I understand the story, the Democrats announced that there would be no more votes that evening, and Republicans started heading home. When enough Republicans were gone the Democrats headed back to the House floor and called for a vote to end debate on all amendments to the spending bill. Republicans scrambled to get back into the House, but it was too late. Democrats saved Pelosi and ACORN with their little chicanery. For now.

They are incapable of arguing ideas on their merits, they have to stoop to crap like this to get their way. It's enough to make you sick.

JASmius adds: As a general matter, I don't see how expressing the fond desire to see a particular politician's underage teenage daughter gang-raped evinces much in the way of humor under any circumstances.  Vicious, malevolent hatred, yes; whimsical merriment, no.  A treatise with which we would be getting vengefully bombarded by the Obamedia if, say, a talk radio host had made the same allusion about one or the other or both of Red Barry's little girls.  Indeed, I imagine Rush Limbaugh would have to go into hiding at Dick Cheney's undisclosed location even if Michael Savage were the on-air perp.  The Fairness Doctrine would get fast-tracked and slam-dunked.  Republican congressional and party leaders would be subject to prosecution on sedition charges by association.  But Letterman?  Oh, come on, man, cantcha take a little joke?

For what it's worth, Barracuda has opted not to bite the bastard in half.  Perhaps out of a spirit of Christ-like forgiveness; perhaps out of deference to divine retribution; and perhaps because, as Ivana Trump used to say, "Success is the best revenge," and 2012 is getting closer all the time.

I've never heard a positive word come out of Barack Obama's mouth, so unless you're just plain stupid (and yes, I believe most of the Left is), you cannot believe that this guy has an ounce of optimism in him, which is the essence of hope. You believed a campaign slogan, and look what it it got us. I'm more ticked off at the imbeciles who believed him enough to abandon what their gut HAD to be telling them than I am at Obama himself.

JASmius adds: It confirms for me once and for all a fact of American politics that will never, ever change: the vast majority of voters will always be behind the learning curve.  ALWAYS.  A majority voted for Red Barry because he (1) had the good sense to largely shut up after Wall Street collapsed nine months ago other than to pretend to be a moderate for the last seven weeks of the campaign - this after having spent the preceding year and a half running to the left of Hugo Chavez - and (2) was of the party out of power after the aforementioned stock market swoon.

Leave aside the "white guilt" part of it (though that did play an infuriating role as well).  Barack Obama is president today for the same reason that Bill Clinton won in 1992 and Ronald Reagan won in 1980: the economy was perceived as swirling down the crapper and they were "the other guy".  Nothing that he said or did prior to last September 15th mattered one jot or tittle because (1) hardly anybody outside of us political junkies pays attention until the fall of election years and (2) the economic crash tsunamied every other issue off the table in any case.

The Chosen One was the beneficiary of, dare I say it, immaculately serendipitous timing.  But even if he hadn't had an economic Katrina at his back, he'd still have won because of more campaign cash than most third world national GDPs, a pathetically weak opponent, the aforementioned white guilt, institutionalized vote fraud, and yes, immutably noodleheaded, culturally debilitated chad-hangers who look upon electing a president no differently from texting in their votes to get Kristi Yamaguchi the hell off Dancing With The Stars.  If a lot of so-called "independents" who actually believed the "hopeandchange" horsecrap are now shocked - SHOCKED! - that Godbama is proving to be the lying commie despot we said he was and would be, and consequently are in the throes of the mother of all bouts of "buyer's remorse," it's a lesson I guarantee you they'll never learn.

The saving grace, if there's any left to be had, is that cycle of ignorance cuts both ways.  Each day that passes takes us further from the Bush presidency and deeper into recession.  There is simply no way, no matter how idolatrous the Obamedia gets, no matter how ACORNized the democratic process becomes, that B.O. and his party can avoid the political consequences of the economic misery they created and are pushing with zealots' fervor to make immeasurably worse.  Not because "swing voters" are finally anchoring their voting inclinations in the truth, or "figuring it out," or "the scales are falling from their eyes," or "getting it," but because the economy is continuing to crater on the Democrats' watch.  Why else would the Republicans now hold a six point edge on the economy when they haven't really done much of note beyond unanimously opposing Hogzilla?

Barry O will be hoisted on the same electoral petard of know-nothingness that lifted him to his date with infernal destiny.  A delicious irony t'will it be that it will also confirm what people like him think of the lumpenproletariat.

That Sarah Palin will be its next beneficiary will be "running up the score" that I can delightfully, if pyrrhicly, live with.

I take great glee in pointing out once again just who it was that called this, um, spade a spade nine months ago as she has so many others.

Matt Margolis calls Red Barry a "liar" and "unfit for office".  Both are certainly true, but to understand the terrible peril we're in, we have to realize that the 43rd-and-a-half president isn't just a liar and unfit for office, or even an unprecedented disaster who gives the lie to Richard Nixon's maxim that no president can ruin the country in just four years.  Barack Obama is the most dangerous enemy America has ever faced.  More dangerous than the Islamists, more dangerous than the old Soviet Union, more dangerous than the German Nazis and Japanese militarists.  Why?  Because none of those foes ever managed to infiltrate our country and put one of their agents in the White House as president to do their bidding in systematically laying waste to American interests, economic vitality, and military strength.  In Barack Obama sixty-eight million Americans managed to do it to us from the inside. 

If a pollster had asked the ChiComms and Vladimir Putin and Hugo Chavez and Osama bin Laden and Kim jong-Il and Bashir Assad and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and every other American enemy what they would like to see in the next American president - from character to personality to ideology - can you imagine that they would have come up with anybody who fit that role better than B.O.?

False Messiah holds the office of president of the United States.  But it is the beliefs, ideology, and agenda of our enemies that he is, in practice, preserving, protecting, and defending.  And before it's over, uncounted thousands of Americans are going to die because of it.

From the only pollster that matters, taken over the 134th through 137th days of the Obama Despondency:

Voters now trust Republicans more than Democrats on six out of ten key issues, including the top issue of the economy.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 45% now trust the GOP more to handle economic issues, while 39% trust Democrats more.

This is the first time in over two years of polling that the GOP has held the advantage on this issue. The parties were close in May, with the Democrats holding a modest 44% to 43% edge. The latest survey was taken just after General Motors announced it was going into bankruptcy as part of a deal brokered by the Obama administration that gives the government majority ownership of the failing automaker.

Voters not affiliated with either party now trust the GOP more to handle economic issues by a two-to-one margin.

Separate Rasmussen tracking shows that the economy remains the top issue among voters in terms of importance.

Republicans also now hold a six-point lead on the issue of government ethics and corruption, the second most important issue to all voters and the top issue among unaffiliated voters. That shows a large shift from May, when Democrats held an 11-point lead on the issue.

Here's the scorecard (1,000 likely voters):

HEALTH CARE: Dems, 47%-37%

EDUCATION: Dems, 44%-37%

SOCIAL SECURITY: Dems 43%-37%

ABORTION: Tied, 41%-41%

TAXES: GOP, 44%-39%

ETHICS: GOP, 35%-29%

ECONOMY: GOP, 45%-39%

IRAQ: GOP, 45%-37%

IMMIGRATION: GOP, 43%-29%

NATIONAL SECURITY: GOP, 51%-36%

AVERAGE: GOP, 41.5%-38.4%

In the generic Congressional poll, it's a 40%-40% tie, which in practical terms means the Dems are roughly five points behind given recent party ID percentages and the respective partisan turnouts from 2008.  The Republicans lead in this year's two big governor races in Virginia (by 15) and New Jersey (by 13).  And two Democrats have defected to return majority control of the New York state sentate to Republican control.

Yes, yes, it's five months until this year's election day, and seventeen months until next year's mid-term congressional elections, and thirty-one months until the 2012 presidential election cycle kicks off in earnest.  It's one snapshot in time, long way to go, yata, yata, yata.  All of that is as true as it is irrelevant.  Why?  Because Democrats are Democrats are Democrats.  Because they are doing with unchecked power precisely what we lonely voices on the Right said they would do with unchecked power.  Because they cannot help abusing power and radicalizing the country by simple version of who and what they are.  And because all those casual, easily bamboozled masses who couldn't be bothered to actually pay attention to what's going on in order to responsibly carry out their civic responsibilities as citizens of a constitutional federal republic are now seeing before their very eyes what happens when you hand the keys to the kingdom to the Democrat Party, and therefore the horrific mistake they collectively made seven months ago.  As in the wake of 1960, 1976, and 1992, another generation of voters is learning that lesson the hard way, and the results will not be long in coming over the next two political cycles.

And yes, yes, Red Barry is still riding mid-50s approval numbers.  But the worst recession since the end of World War II that he inherited not from George W. Bush but from his own party and its Financial Logic Bomb continues to get worse, NOT better, and his horsebleep excuse-making and risible pie-in-the-sky stimulus promises are stripping the Jemimah glory from his grinning rictus one ersatz-lacquered layer at a time.  Just as the unemployment rate is a lagging economic indicator, so his approval numbers will be their political counterpart.  And given that the jobless rate has risen from 8.1% to 9.4% in just the not-quite four months since Hogzilla was unleashed upon a skeptical public, given that the past nine months of bailout mania has NEVER been popular and is getting more unpopular by the day, given that B.O. keeps Alinskily bleating of how much he HATES "having" to keep nationalizing one industry after another as he eagerly and gleefully keeps nationalizing one industry after another, given that the simplest Joe Sixpack can grasp that the way out of a ruinous pile of debt isn't to double the size of the pile in the same way that False Messiah can't spend us all rich, make water run uphill, lower the seas, raise our consciousnesses, plug the ozone hole, heal our souls, get us all laid, and harvest golden eggs from a tax-slayed goose....well, how long can it possibly be until the fact of the Emperor being nakeder than Paris Hilton on the Internet becomes so day-glo undeniable that his misbegotten presidency is eclipsed into irrelevance by his own shallowness, vapidity, and roaring foolishness, and even his Obamedia worshippers start quietly slithering away until only the commie fanatics at MSNBC are left?

This is the other side of why Sarah Palin will be the next President of the United States.  The True-Believing idiocy of the Chicago Cherubim is setting the table for her and the Republican comeback that will wash away the "blue" filth in spite of itself.

Environmentalist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in 2007 declared that skeptics of global warming hysteria are guilty of "treason."

Then NASA's James Hansen said climate skeptics should be put on trial for "high crimes against humanity."

And Kennedy recently called coal companies "criminal enterprises" and said their CEO's should be jailed "for all of eternity."

Now a global warming alarmist has taken the vitriol to new heights, calling for the execution of global warming deniers.

The alarmist, identified only as "The Insolent Braggart," posted an entry on Talking Points Memo, an often-cited Web site. TPM removed the entry from the site, but not before it came to the attention of Marc Morano of Climate Depot.

He reproduced the entry on his Web site:

"At what point do we jail or execute global warming deniers? . . . The vast majority of the scientific minds in the world agree and understand it's a very serious problem that can do an untold amount of damage to life on Earth.

"So when the right-wing [expletive deleted] have caused it to be too late to fix the problem, and we start seeing the devastating consequences and we start seeing end of the world type events — how will we punish those responsible? It will be too late. So shouldn't we start punishing them now?"

The Washington Examiner cited the TPM poster in an editorial headlined, "Is American politics becoming a hate sport?"

The editorial likened the poster to Scott Roeder, who is charged with killing abortion doctor George Tiller, and John Brown, the abolitionist who led a murderous raid on a federal facility shortly before the Civil War.

"Are Brown, Roeder, and the TPM poster simply lone fanatics," the Examiner asked, "isolated illustrations of what happens when political concerns become warped beyond reason and combine with unstable personality characteristics to produce gruesome results?"

No, the TPM poster - or James Hansen, or RFK, Jr. - are not "lone."  The vast majority of the Donk Left resides in the same strutting, goose-stepping, fascist, totalitarian category, the only distinction being the extent of the tattered shards of public discretion any one of its fellow travelers can muster on any given day against the hurricane-force gusts of their own power lusts and untrammeled arrogance.  Otherwise, the Examiner's rhetorical question is smack on the money.

I must hasten to remind everybody, however, that this sort of manifestation of lib murderousness is nothing new.  The Left reveled in assassination fantasies about President Bush's grisly demise throughout his eight years in the White House.  And leave us not omit earlier "indiscretions" like that of Alec Baldwin - he of the Hulu ads and the thirty or forty extra pounds since Hunt For Red October - on Leno in 1998 when he publicly demanded the execution of then-GOP Congressman Henry Hyde and his entire family for the "outrage" of helping ensure that Bill Clinton was not, after all, above the law, a "warping beyond reason" that he shortly thereafter laughed off as a "joke".

We only need go back an additional three years to find the libs' own template petard on which to hoist them: remember how the Clintonoids used the Oklahoma City bombing to smear the entire center-right with culpability in it by supposedly "creating the atmosphere of hate" that "inspired" Timothy McVeigh and the Nichols brothers?  This "atmosphere of hate" being, of course, the Republican congressional triumph of 1994, the steamroller that was the Contract with America, and ascendant conservativism in general.  At the time I applied the same logic to Ted Kaczinski by modifying his ecoterrorist nickname to the "Clintobomber," since after all, Sick Willie's Veep was an environmental extremist whose apocalyptic cryptocommunist rants obviously encouraged Kaczinski to take the greenstremist cause to the next level of justifiable, even "holy" violence.  Can we not now apply the same logic to the entire leftosphere, at the very least?

Yes we can!  Particularly if domestic ecoterrorists start taking their cues from TPM and picking off true climatologists (as opposed to the degreed political hacks and their abandonment of science for ideological hard left quackery) for the "sin" of dissenting from the Climate Change Inquisition.

It's really a matter of putting up or shutting up by shouting down these animals before they can make good on their threats.  Because once they do, how far will Donk-occupied America be from more than just metaphorical civil war?

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently issued a proposed rule saying that greenhouse gases endanger the public health and welfare.

Under this endangerment finding, the EPA could rule that carbon dioxide and five other so-called greenhouse gases are a threat to public health. Specifically, EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson plans to use section 202(a) of the Clean Air Act to regulate these emissions. This, despite the fact that it's questionable whether the EPA even has the authority to pursue such a drastic regulation.

Even recent EPA leaders disagree with this approach. According to Stephen Johnson, former EPA administrator, "...the Clean Air Act, an outdated law originally enacted to control regional pollutants that cause direct health effects, is ill-suited for the task of regulating global greenhouse gases."

Make no mistake: This drastic regulation will cost jobs and raise the price of nearly all goods and services U.S. consumers purchase.

1) Keep Barack Obama from advancing the power and reach of the corrupt labor union kingpins -- fighting his illegal forced unionism policies in the courts.

Barack Obama charms, Barack Obama apologizes, Barack Obama bows, Barack Obama curtsies, Barack Obama falls on his face in prostrated vicarious contrition - and strangely enough, the nuclear missile threat to the United States grows even faster (via Newsmax Insider):

A new report by the National Air and Space Intelligence Center reveals that the missile threat to the U.S. from potentially hostile nations is growing.

The report, "Ballistic and Cruise Missile Threat," details the dangers posed by the missile programs of North Korea, Iran, Red China, Russia and other nations.

It comes as the Obama administration is planning to reduce spending on missile defense systems, the Washington Times observes.

The NASIC report discloses that since 2006, North Korea has deployed nearly fifty new missiles with a range of more than 2,000 miles. It has also tested the Taepodong-2 missile, which has a range of 3,400 miles. Both tests of the missile have been failures [wanna bet?], but the report says they demonstrate North Korea's "determination to achieve long-range ballistic missile and space launch capabilities."

It also warns that the Taepodong-2 could be exported to other countries in the future.

The NASIC report cites Iran's April launch of a missile that "can serve as a testbed for long-range ballistic missile technologies."

Red China, the report notes, has "the most active and diverse ballistic missile development program in the world," and the number of Red Chinese ICBM warheads capable of threatening the U.S. is expected to grow to "well over one hundred in the next fifteen years."

Russia has increased its arsenal of warheads on its SS-18 ICBMs by 250 in recent years. Russia is also developing new technology "to allow Russian strategic missiles to penetrate missile defense systems," according to the NASIC report obtained by the Times.

The Obamagon, meanwhile, recently announced that its next budget includes a $1.5 billion cut in missile defense funding.

Mark this well once again: thousands of American civilians are going to die because of Barack Obama - at the very least.  And the survivors' electoral memories will doubtless prove even shorter.

I learned some things about George Tiller and the Democrats while reading Ann Coulter's column this morning. Admittedly, I've been too busy lately to keep up with things as I should (sometimes that's a blessing, especially nowadays) and I haven't really looked into the shooting of the late-term abortionist. Apparently, he had some friends in high places.

In 1997, the Washington Post reported that Tiller attended one of Bill Clinton's White House coffees for major campaign contributors. In addition to a $25,000 donation to Clinton, Tiller wanted to thank him personally for thirty months of U.S. Marshals' protection paid for by the U.S. taxpayer.

Kansas Democrats who received hundreds of thousands of campaign dollars from Tiller repeatedly intervened to block any interference with Tiller's abortion mill.

Kathleen Sebelius, who was the governor of Kansas until Obama made her Health and Human Services Secretary, received hundreds of thousands of campaign dollars from Tiller. Sebelius vetoed one bill restricting late-term abortions and another one that would have required Tiller to turn over his records pertaining to "substantial and irreversible conditions" justifying his late-term abortions.

Interesting, huh? Read on, there's more. Apparently, Democrats will take money from anyone, no matter where it came from. But then, we knew that, considering the Clintons' ChiComm connections. This is beyond the pale, though, BLOOD MONEY. It is disconcerting to me that there are so many people in positions of power who possess so little decency and character that they cannot see the wrong involved in this gruesome procedure, and gleefully take money from a man who practices it and brags about it...and PROTECT him so he can continue. Honestly, how do these people look at themselves in the mirror? How can you justify the killing of a viable human baby? Do they not understand that the power they seek is temporary, and that there is an eternity waiting for them? Okay, that was rhetorical. It still amazes me, though, what people will do for money and power in this fleeting life with no thought to things eternal.

But...I guess that's another topic. 

JASmius adds: And yet the Obama FBI may well have allowed Tiller to be gunned down by a suspect they knew had a long history of such inclinations in order to exploit his death for further political gain.

Blood money, indeed.

In a speech in Anchorage this week, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin charged that the government is planning to “bail out debt ridden states” so it can “get in there and control the people...

Palin said that the programs the administration had unleashed “fly in the face of principles” and “defy Economics 101,” according to a report by CNN. ...

“Since when can you get out of huge national debt by creating trillions of dollars of new debt?” Palin charged. “It all really is so backwards and skewed as to sound like absolute nonsense when some of this economic policy is explained.”

“We need to be aware of the creation of a fearful population, and fearful lawmakers, being led to believe that big government is the answer, to bail out the private sector, because then government gets to get in there and control it,” she said. “And mark my words, this is going to be next, I fear, bail out next debt-ridden states. Then government gets to get in there and control the people.”

“Some in Washington would approach our economic woes in ways that absolutely defy Economics 101, and they fly in the face of principles, providing opportunity for industrious Americans to succeed or to fail on their own accord,” she argued. “Those principles it makes you wonder what the heck some in Washington are trying to accomplish here.”

The Gipper was the last Republican to pose such questions in such a straightforward, easily-grasped, and populist manner at just the time in American history when such questions, and such a leader, was most sorely needed.

History, it seems, is destined to repeat itself.

The data is in for April. Obamanomics is failing terribly. Here's what happened:

1. Household personal income (inflation adjusted) rose, but every penny — and then some — went into savings or paying down debts. Consumer spending, on which Obama is betting to stimulate the economy, actually fell. None of the stimulus money was sent. None.

2. Meanwhile, to pay for this stimulus spending that didn't stimulate, Obama had to borrow so much money that long-term interest rates have almost doubled since he took office, forcing postponement of business expansion and hiring across the board.

What a record!....

Barack Obama has fatally undermined our currency, our solvency, our financial stability, and, ultimately, our economy all to spend money that has had no economic effect!

Is Obama a failure? Not by his lights.

His goal was never to stimulate the economy. His goal was to expand government spending and he used the recession as an excuse to do so. And, by this standard, he is a raging success. With the stimulus spending, the government proportion of GDP will rise from about 35% to about 40% and with healthcare "reform," it will go soaring into the mid-40s, bringing us to parity with Germany en route to France!

But the results are in: None of Obama's spending is doing anything to help the economy.

A fact that will be indellibly evident by the time 2012 rolls around.

Well, that's what you would take away from any speech Barack Obama has given in another country. I watched a little of the Cairo Show yesterday (as much as I could stand) and mostly what I heard is that America's bad, we're sorry, may I kiss your butt?

I really can't stand this guy.

NBC quoted one observer who said she got "goose pimples," and another who compared the speech to that of JFK in Berlin; correspondent Andrea Mitchell gushed: "This was a transformational speech, potentially....This could change the Obama presidency."

2. CBS Lauds 'Professor' Obama's 'Powerful,' 'Historic' Middle East Speech

CBS's Early Show crew fawned over President Obama's Thursday morning speech in Cairo, calling it "historic," powerful," "far-ranging," "presidential" and "professorial." Co-host Harry Smith gushed: "He was very much a teacher this morning. He was giving Americans and Muslims a history lesson."

A "history lesson" from the same "professor" who declared to the world not that long ago that relations between the United States and the "Muslim world" were just peachy keen "thirty years ago" - or smack dab in the middle of the Iranian hostage crisis.

Didn't the Chosen One already go to the Middle East once already since usurping office?  How about his message to "the Iranian people" a few months back that the mullahs pissed on if it didn't lead to the U.S. dismantling Israel and withdrawing from the Middle East altogether?  What makes this installment of gibbering in Cairo any different? (Ali Khamenei's answer: Absolutely nothing.)

It's what they have in common that is far more significant: everything that our Islamist enemies want to hear.  The next mass-casualty terrorist attack on our soil will be traceable right back to the Golden Child's "historic," "far-ranging," "powerful," "presidential," "professorial" words, which bore far greater resemblance to Neville Chamberlain's paper-waving disembarkation remarks on the Heathrow tarmack (or whatever the equivalent was seventy-one years ago) than anything JFK ever uttered.

3. Chris Cuomo: Link Terror to Israeli/Palestinian Fight and Americans Might 'Understand' It

 

On location with Barack Obama in the Middle East, ABC's Chris Cuomo Thursday condescendingly suggested to the son of Egypt's President that if Americans "understood the link to the Palestinian/Israeli situation, they might understand terrorism differently." Cuomo also saluted Obama's speech to Muslims as "very comprehensive, very thoughtful and historic."

That's almost infringement upon Godbama's surrender gimmick on Cuomo's part.  Or maybe he gained advance access to the Chicago Cherubim's next "historic, transformational" speech.  Or maybe he's angling for the anchor spot on al-Jazeera now that it's on American cable television.  Americans would "understand" - and doubtless heartily support and approve of terrorism - if we realized that it's really only meant to be inflicted on those dirty, rotten, subhuman, untermenschen Jews, and if we would only abandon Israel and let the Iranians wipe them off the face of the planet - or even better, help them to do it or even do it for them - the Muslims would be our eternal friends and we would have permanent peace and safety.  At least until they wiped us out as well.  Or so goes the word of Barry through the prophet Christopher.

Methinks Chris Cuomo and his faux deity would benefit from a history lesson about the rise of the National Socialist German Worker's party in the 1930s, the West's weak, feckless, heedless, thoughtless, and roaringly foolish reactions to it, and how well Red Barry's brand of appeasement worked out for the world - and the Jews - on that particular occasion.  Maybe that would help him catch up with the growing horde of Americans who have figured out enough of it to propel Dick Cheney's burgeoning popularity.

Note, in the wake of the murder of infamous abortician George Tiller, on which side of the abortion divide the fear resides:

Anti-abortion leaders voiced concern Sunday that the Obama administration and other Democrats may try to capitalize on the murder of Dr. George Tiller to defuse the abortion issue in upcoming Supreme Court confirmation hearings.

Many anti-abortion groups condemned the killing of Tiller, a prominent abortion provider who was shot dead at his church in Wichita, Kansas. But they expressed concern that abortion-rights activists would use the occasion to brand the entire anti-abortion movement as extremist.

They also worried that there would now be an effort to stifle anti-abortion viewpoints during questioning of Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor. Her exact views on abortion aren't known, but conservatives fear she supports abortion rights.

Said the Reverend Patrick Mahoney, an anti-abortion activist: "No one should use this tragedy for political gain."

Oh, brother.  Is this not one of the most pointless scoldings ever uttered in modern American politics?  OF COURSE Red Barry and the Dems and the Obamedia are going to use this tragedy for political gain.  For them, politics IS religion, and Obama is their god. 

Not that they need it given their filibuster-proof Senate majority.  The truth is, need has nothing to do with it where these animals are concerned.  They'll use Tiller's death not to push through Judge Sotomayor, whose confirmation is a fait accompli, but to fuel public support for an anti-Christian Kristalllnacht that will legislatively reduce conservative evangelicals into second-class citizens and kneecap what has been and remains the most potent bloc of the center-right political coalition.

Indeed, the timing of the Tiller slaying is sufficiently convenient, and the reporting on the assailant sufficiently sparse, that the cynical part of my fertile brain cannot help but wonder if this might have been a frame-up, a pro-death cultist, whether a connected "operative" or an independently motivated "lone gunman," who sought to bring down blistering PR heat upon the pro-life community by posing as one of its number in "acting in its name" to "pass judgment" upon the man Randall Terry helpfully described as a "mass murderer".  There is historical precedent for such gambits, and don't think for one moment that the fascist mob the Democrat Party has degenerated into is completely historically illiterate, or not cut from at least tangentially similar cloth in its scorched-earth lust for total power.  Wouldn't have been difficult to sneak such an individual into a "church" so apostate that it would have accepted without any church discipline a man whose day job was the dismembering of unborn children past the moment of birth.

The true tragedy, though, goes beyond Tiller's death, to the fact that he has now died in his sins and thus is truly beyond redemption.  This is the purpose, the underlying theme, of the passage from Romans above.  The Christian's mission in this life is crystal clear:

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Nowhere in that passage do I see the slightest hint of carrying out unilateral gangland executions.  If the true Messiah had acted thusly, He'd have turned His disciples loose in the Garden of Gesthemane (assuming He had waited that long to do so) as sword-wielding, ass-kicking, Ninja-esqe killing machines, or simply spoken a single word and reduced the entire Roman Empire to ashes and its legions and leadership to puddles of blood.

Instead, He commanded the Apostle Peter to

"Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword.  Do you think I cannot call on My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels?  But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?"

Jesus Christ did not come the first time to take over the world, "....but to serve, and to give His Life as a ransom for many."  Quite unlike George Tiller's executioner.

Unless, of course, he had in mind to provide genuine American Christians with fresh, abundant opportunities to experience "the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death."  If the LORD tarries in His coming, we shall indeed do so, to the temporary benefit of Godbama and his master.

My prayer is that not even Barack Obama and his idolotrous pagan sychophants are beyond redemption.  For the God Whose nation he insists America no longer is will indeed repay all the iniquities of those who have rejected Him.  Far better to humble themselves now and be astride a white horse then, dining on roast Beast, then the unpleasant alternative to which George Tiller has been tragically condemned.
