"National Racial Firestorm"?

Oh, please; hasn't the Black Klan run out of sharks to jump yet?

I'm reminded of a line from an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation.  In the story another Starfleet captain - a veteran of a (typically inconclusive) war the Federation fought against a race called the Cardassians - has gone berserk in a fit of post-traumatic stress syndrome by invading Cardassian space and hunting down and destroying one Cardie ship after another.

In one scene, Captain Picard is speaking with one of his crewmen who served with this other captain during that conflict.  The crewman, loyal to a fault, is still stubbornly defending his old C.O.  Picard, as is his want, doesn't get angry or pull rank; he calmly replies:

"When one has been angry for a very long time, one gets used to it. And it becomes comfortable, like... like old leather. And finally... becomes so familiar that one can't ever remember feeling any other way."

That perfectly describes black racists like Henry Louis Gates, Jr., as well as Jeremiah Wright and pretty much any pulpiteer at whose hatemongering rantings Barack Obama ever sat in Trinity United Church's pews over two decades nodding his head.  I don't wonder that Sergeant Crowley described Gates' behavior as "irrational".  The cops were called because somebody in his neighborhood saw his house being broken into.  This neighborhood can hardly be a "ghetto" given that Gates is a Harvard college professor, and he lives in Cambridge f'ing Massachusetts, not Selma, Alabama.  The good samaritan was looking out for Gates, not siccing the "pigs" on him.  All Gates had to do when the police arrived was calmly speak to them, show them his I.D., and explain what happened.  A rational man would have realized the misunderstanding and that would have been that.

But not a man for whom anger and persecution neuroses have become a way of life.  For black racists like Gates, all whites are night riders, and all white cops are Bull Connor, and are guilty, period, with even the possibility that they might be innocent of his prejudice never entering into the personal indictment equation.  Indeed, the anti-white bigotry is self-justifying and self-perpetuating.  The Henry Gates and Jeremiah Wrights of "black America" do not want racial reconciliation, peace, or "rainbow brotherhood"; they want to wallow in their toxic brew of hate and moral supremacism that is more like insatiable acid than it is old leather.

I thought Sergeant Crowley was the exemplar of professionalism in not letting himself get provoked - which, from the police reports (which, if the picture I saw is any indication, includes his African-American partner), Gates was obviously attempting to do in order to create another Rodney King-esque publicity "incident" if he was slurring Crowley's mother - both at the time of the call and in the afore-vidded interview.

The same, of course, cannot be said of Barack Obama:

[A]ny statement from a politician about an incident under dispute that begins, ” I don’t know, not having been there and not seeing all the facts,” should end with, “I have nothing to say until all the facts are known.”  Instead, Obama took the moment immediately after acknowledging his incomplete knowledge of the incident to declare that law enforcement had acted “stupidly,” which doesn’t fit the facts as they’re unfolding now.  I understand the impulse to defend a friend in a dispute, but as President and as the head of law enforcement in the nation, Obama should have given enough benefit of the doubt to the police to at least withhold judgment until he did get all the facts.

Why did Barry park right into this local-tempest-in-a-teapot that, frankly, should be beneath his notice as Embattled President of the United States Whose Presidency Is Being Destroyed even if the perp was another of his extremist associates?  Two reasons:

1) He's Godbama, and not the numbered hairs on anybody's head nor all the sparrows on the planet are unworthy of being the targets of his arrogant hectoring; and

2) Gates' slander fit The Chosen One's Uncle Jeremiah-indoctrinated prejudices like the pants of a man with five penises - like a glove.  B.O. didn't need to know the facts, because it was so obvious that Sergeant Crowley runs the Cambridge chapter of the Mark Fuhrman Fan Club just as his old friend Hank says.  Until the facts actually got out and made a liar of the L'il President for the umpteenth time just yesterday.

I guess the White House walkback could have been worse - Obama could have simply "1984'd" his "stupid" comment out of existence.  I guess what passes for a "brain"trust in that mob decided that would just make their tin god look even, well, stupider than he's made himself look already.

But THIS is a "retreat"?:

The White House says President Barack Obama was not calling a Cambridge, Mass., police officer stupid when he criticized last week’s arrest of black scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. …

On Wednesday Obama said the police “acted stupidly” when they arrested Gates even after it was clear that he was not a burglary suspect. Gibbs said that Obama did not regret the remark, but wanted to clarify that he was not calling the arresting officer stupid.

Need any Drammamine?  Pepto Bismal?  I can wait.

In the mean time, let me attempt to translate:

"I don't regret not saying what I said, and I didn't mean what I didn't say when I said it."

Nothing that isn't crystal clear there, right?

You know the old adage: "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak up and remove all doubt."  Now B.O. has made himself look foolish AND stupid AND incoherent.

I guess he really is an overachiever after all.

UPDATE: You always hurt the one you love - especially when they "dismount":

It's reminscent of when Princess Azula banished her servants, Dai Li agents, Imperial Firebenders, and close relatives from the Fire Nation palace.  Monarchs and strongmen accustomed to slavish, idolatrous devotion from their subjects tend to get a tad paranoid when things stop going their way.

Oh, don't worry, the Obamedia will spend weeks on their faces before The One, offering up as many Republican burnt offerings as they can if he'll only dispense his grace and forgive them this horrible transgression.  Or at least until his approval numbers drop into the minority range....

Oh.  Well.  Maybe we are entering the "interesting" phase of the Obamadency after all.
