Incorrigible Hubris

What do you get when you combine megalomania with seemingly insatiable incompetence?  Well, actually, the Obama White House has produced quite a few valid answers to that question, but in this case we'll focus on the First Child's September 8th oratorical invasion of American classrooms.

Once again, the Obamedia forfeited its constitutionally implied watchdog role to the mainstream media, which didn't take long to find the Orwellian in the prep materials on the L'il President's prepared text that all but incorporates "community organizing" into public school curricula.  Then, in the space of literally hours, Barry O's Education Commissariat upped the Orwell ante by "disappearing" the passage about students writing themselves letters on how they can help Dear Leader and conceal their new "O" tats from their parents.

Many of the latter of whom, as the White House might have expected if they ever stopped leading with their imperious conceit, were highly pissed, not so much at a POTUS addressing school children in and of itself, but at the specter of one as radical, partisan, and manifestly untrustworthy by this time as Barack Obama turning the occasion into a political recruitment tool.  And for whom Double-M is their champion:

And the White House retort, through vomiteer "Baghdad Bob" Gibbs?:

“I think we’ve reached a little bit of the silly season when the President of the United States can’t tell kids in school to study hard and stay in school,” Gibbs said at a gaggle with reporters, according to CBS News White House Correspondent Mark Knoller…

Asked about the fact that some schools are not planning to show the speech, Gibbs evoked school districts that “won’t let you read Huckleberry Finn.”

Oh, sure, Gibbsy.  Why should parents be suspicious of surrendering their little skulls full of mush to the proselytizing of a man whose drones include despicable slanders of their opponents as "right wing domestic terrorists" and "heirs of bin Laden" in their tactical political strategizing?  Whose brainwashed idolators have produced totalitarianistic anthems like this....

....in his honor?  And who himself has told opponents of his health care putsch to "stop talking" and "get out of my way", AND has used little girls at his faux townhallers as PR props?  Naw, there's nothing to worry about at all, is there?  Silly, silly, silly.

Oh, yeah, NEA drones will obey the unspoken que and preach Godbama's fascist gospel for him.  That would be the case anyway, though; it was his administration that was chowderheaded enough to once again directly connect the White House to it.  And that heralds the silver lining in this latest in a long line to come of Obamunist overreaching PR debacles - a matching incompetence:

Now, the school speech was poorly thought out, both in concept and execution. The same can be said of Obama’s recurring unsuccessful attempts over the summer to “reframe the health care reform debate,” and the multiple mis-steps in responding to his Town Hall critics, beginning with the spectacularly inept branding of them as an “angry mob.”…

The lesson here is that the political ear that warns of potential mis-steps in a campaign is not the same one that works once you are elected and have to make the thousand decisions that come with daily governance of a central government that long ago become far too big and expansive to be effectively managed. This is why administration officials approach projects like the school speech without anticipating the explosion of negative public reaction.

So expect in coming months a growing theme in the media questioning the competence of those around the president. For liberals in Congress and the media, such a theme will provide a handy way of diverting blame from Obama’s shoulders for the succession of blunders, misteps and embarrassments that is surely coming.

The White House's failure to anticipate the explosion of negative public reaction wasn't incompetence, it was arrogance.  Their incompetence was in failing to realize that education, though almost entirely socialized, is run at the local and state government levels, not the federal, and therefore school districts don't all start their school years at the same time.  A highly amusing piece of unanticipated decentralization whose irony is beyond delicious in its blunting of the amassing of the captive audience King Hussein wanted to capture.

I gotta differ with Tapscott on one other point: Red Barry's own competence is already in very low repute, and will continue to deteriorate for the same reason: he is incapable of accepting his own fallibility, and therefore will never refrain from thrusting himself into every situation in the unshakable belief that his hypnotic oratory will sway the doubters and skeptics of his policies and always save the day.

Besides, as Obi Wan Kenobi once said, "Who is the bigger fool, the fool or the one who follows him?"

Like I've been saying, it's quite an education the American people have been getting this summer.  And school has only just begun.
