Islanded In A Stream of Czars

Another example of the hype-addled Petulant Child and his palace guard being the only ones left in the country still under the spell of Obamania:

I'm not going to say that I'm not surprised that the Obamedia ObamaHouse press contingent circled the wagons on Fox News' behalf.  So imagine the Obamunist reaction when that happened.  I think it's pretty clear that they believed ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN would dociley and adoringly follow The One's orders and throw their Fox colleagues under the bus.  Indeed, I don't think it ever occurred to them that they wouldn't obey.  So when the other nets announced that if Fox couldn't interview Feinberg, none of them would, the ObamaHouse was left with its collective johnson blowing in the wind.

The humilation, moreover, is more than just the climbdown over this interview tantrum.  It came after a series of blatant, contemptuous fabrications to the entire press corps:

Decide for yourself what the most disgraceful aspect of this is. Was it the fact that Gibbs told Jake Tapper explicitly on Monday that the White House wouldn’t try to dictate to the press pool who should and shouldn’t be included — before doing precisely that? Was it Anita Dunn going out of her way to say she respects Major Garrett as a fair reporter — before the administration decided he didn’t deserve a crack here at Feinberg? Or was it the repeated insistence by Dunn and Axelrod that of course the administration will make its officials available to Fox — before pulling the plug today?

And because the ObamaHouse propaganda shop doused their boss's media worshippers with the same contempt they've been pissing on Fox and presumptively pushed too far, "They now have all of the broadcast networks on record defending their competitor as a news organization."

Does this mean the Obamedia has seen the light of what their horned god truly is?  Don't be silly.  What it DOES mean is the same thing that ultimately governs congressional Democrats even when one of their own is in the White House: self-interest.  To them, presidents come and go, but THEY'RE permanent fixtures of the Beltway power structure.  Barack Obama is the top dog now, but suppose, say, Sarah Palin is president come 2013, has a sufficiently long memory of the press savaging she took in 2008-09 (and would take in 2011-12 to get there), and cited the Feinberg Precedent to justify banishing ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN to the outer darkness?  Not that she, or any Republican, ever would do such a thing, if for no other reason than the national firestorm that it would create.  But you know the old saying: what goes around, comes around.  Also, he who lives by the sword will die by it.  If the wise man doesn't bring a knife to a gun fight, neither does he hand his enemy his knife once he gets there.

Speaking of Congress, they got sprayed with presidential bodily fluids on Barry's Czar Cluster as well:

The White House has told Congress it will reject calls for many of President Obama’s policy czars to testify before Congress – a decision senators said goes against the president’s promises of transparency and openness and treads on Congress’ constitutional mandate to investigate the administration’s actions.

Senator Susan Collins, Maine Republican, said White House counsel Greg Craig told her in a meeting Wednesday that they will not make available any of the czars who work in the White House and don’t have to go through Senate confirmation. She said he was “murky” on whether other czars outside of the White House would be allowed to come before Congress.

Miss Collins said that doesn’t make sense when some of those czars are actually making policy or negotiating on behalf of Mr. Obama. …

The debate goes to the heart of weighty constitutional issues about separation of powers. The president argues that he should be allowed to have advisers who are free to give him confidential advice without having to fear being called to testify about it. Democrats and Republicans in Congress, though, argue that those in office who actually craft policy should be able to be summoned to testify because they do more than just give the president advice.

It's breathtakingly brazen for a president who couldn't be bothered with formulating his own agenda but instead outsourced it entirely to Capitol Hill to contemptuously dismiss bipartisan congressional demands for oversight of his commie-and-pervert-infested secret junta and justify it on the grounds that Fox News has called for it.  This has vast potential to create more and bigger headaches for Red Barry than just losing the PR war with Fox that he started (and which, of course, doesn't help his case for secrecy, opacity, and unaccountability with Congress).  It is, as with the anti-Fox vendetta and his larger leftwing extremist agenda, a recklessly overt power grab that will force his heretofore obescient disciples to start looking out for #1 as it further toxifies Cap'n Hopenchange.  Again, for congressional Democrats, particularly the ones elected in the last two cycles, loyalty to Dear Leader is not unlimited, both when it threatens their own nascent political careers, and when it strips Congress of institutional power and renders it little more than a glorified rubber stamp machine.

If it's any consolation to His Majesty, he's still got some acolytes at CNBC....
