The Agony Of CNN

Bad enough for the cable channel that only looks sane next to MSNBC to be getting repeatedly lapped in the ratings by Fox, but to have to cover their vastly superior rival in its tete-a-tete with the Obama White House - and take Fox's side - that's gotta be sulfuric acid in the wound:

One would think that The One would have learned from his mauling at the hands of Rush Limbaugh that "declaring war" on the handful of powerful media outlets that don't wave his palm fronds to keep His Majesty cool and comfortable accomplishes nothing besides feeding them additional audience and making him look petty, thin-skinned, and much, much smaller - the latter of which his policy agenda is already amply accomplishing.

As if to flip David Gergen the bird for his unwanted advice, witness the White House Communications Director doubling down in the opposite direction - on CNN, natch.  You tell 'em, Anita!:

Whatever happened to the "Fairness" Doctrine, hmm?  Sending in the storm troopers to muzzle Fox, talk radio, and the rightosphere would have made Obama look like the fascist he is, but at least that way nobody would be broaching the "C.B." word.

Exit quote from the pithy AP:

“Let’s not pretend they’re a news network the way CNN is,” she says, flattering the impartial, hard-news sensibility of an outfit that’s recently taken to fact-checking comedy skits on behalf of His Holiness....Meanwhile, not a word is breathed here about the nightly backrubs that The One gets from Olbermann and Maddow on MSNBC, despite Dunn practically begging for a question in that vein by whining about Fox being aligned with one of the two major parties.

Journalism, it seems, is heretical to the Li'l President's concept of "freedom of the press".
