I don't even give him the "good intentions" excuse because The One claims to be a student of history, and history is absent a single example where piecemeal national suicide ever constructed a more peaceful world, or ever failed to whet dictators' and aggressors' appetites for war and conquest.
Nor does it serve any purpose to have urged him to turn down the NPP. Obama may have been surprised by it as evidenced by the fact that he didn't actively campaign for it. But Narcissus himself humbly declining this highly enriched nuclear ego fuel? You'd sooner believe that Ted Kennedy actually needed to be embalmed.
Besides, once again, deep down in his black, flinty heart, you know he agrees with the Nobelistas' prooffered AND hidden motivations for their laureatization. He'll never use the NPP as political cover to morph into a fire-breathing neocon any more than he'll try to call the Taliban's risible bluff. This was yet another exercise in pagan idolatry, and idols don't twist scripture for the benefit of hell-bound heretics - figurative or literal.
