The Power Of Fox

Good news - the Hussein administration has finally learned how to compromise!  Now, instead of claiming that Hogzilla "saved or created" a million jobs at the risible end, and thirty thousand jobs at the just barely believable other, now they've landed somewhere in-between.

Sort of:

The Obama administration’s $787 billion stimulus bill directly saved or created about 650,000 jobs as of the end of last month, administration officials announced this morning.

The numbers come from Congressionally-mandated reports submitted earlier this month by tens of thousands of state and local governments, private companies, colleges, universities, and community organizations nationwide, administration officials said, with the majority of the funds coming from state governments.

Factoring jobs indirectly created from the stimulus — not reflected in these numbers — an administration official says in a statement that “because these reports show that less than half of the spending through that date created or saved about 650,000 jobs, they confirm government and private forecaster’s estimates that overall Recovery Act spending has created and saved at least one million jobs.”

Moreover, the administration emphasized, these reports do not reflect the job impact of the stimulus plan’s tax cuts, direct payments to individuals, and grants and awards of amounts under $25,000 per recipient. Nor, officials cautioned, do they reflect the indirect job impact of the funds, such as when employers for stimulus projects hired to meet new demand or when hired workers spent their paychecks.

Except, of course, there hasn't BEEN any REAL "new demand," just statist gimmickry designed to generate phony "growth" numbers for PR consumption.  Thus, the "indirectly saved or created jobs not reflected" in their who-the-hell-knows? numbers is as made-up a piece of pure roaring, nakedly self-serving speculation as it ever was.

Note also the source of the "majority of funds" - and what common sense suggests was the jobs it focused on "saving or creating":

The “majority of funds” came from state governments because Porkulus distributed the money in block grants to the states.  What did the states do with that money? ....

No one was going to have a mass layoff of police officers and teachers....The jobs really at risk were administrative jobs within state government, primarily union jobs (in large part represented by Obama’s ally, the SEIU), as states had to confront an economic reality of lower revenue and rising spending.   Porkulus provided a one-time method of ignoring that reality for a few months by burdening the entire nation with the bad policy decisions of the individual states.

Quite obviously, in ObamaWorld, some jobs - like those of his Purpleshirt storm troopers - are more worthy of "salvation or creation" than others.  But just as with the one-time Cash For Clunkers and the one-time home-buyers' tax credit, it isn't real growth.  When the cash runs out, the public and private sectors are right back in the same crucible they started.  States will have to do precisely what private businesses have had no choice about doing all along:  cut back.  Either cut their bureaucracies or raise taxes in a recession, which is why Hogzilla I hadn't been on the books for more than two or three months before we started hearing calls for Hogzilla II.  Which will, naturally, be followed by Hogzilla III and IV and V and VI, on and on and on until the economy finally collapses under all that debt and The One can just declare martial law, dispense with the pretense of democracy, and REAL hopenchange can get started.

We are literally consuming ourselves with this insanity.  It's fiscal cannibalism.  We ate our own fat long, long ago, and our now munching ravenously through muscle, sinew, vital organs, bone, marrow.  In the very near term all that'll be left will be the unstoppable snapping jaws and teeth, which will bear far more than a passing resemblance to the grinning rictus of President-For-Life Red Barry himself.

We call the Obamunists incompetent, but in pursuing their ultimate goal of dismantling America, they very much know what they're doing.  To quote Ambassador Spock, "Historically, it has always been easier to destroy than to create (or save)."  It's in the subtlety and stealth with which they are carrying out B.O.'s "transformational imperative" that they're dumber than a box of hair, which probably reflects their belief in the blinding Luciferian hype that teaches them subterfuge is unnecessary when The Kingdom is already here.

Perhaps that explains why Fox News has apparently assimilated Columbia Barack System when nobody was looking:

If Katie Couric is morphing into the new Greta Van Susteren by calling the ObamaHouse's "compromise" saved/created "creativity" the big, steaming pile it is - which, do remember, is Godbama's only genuine "accomplishment" so far - then there might actually be an end to his media "honeymoon" after all.

Personally, I think in retrospect that Rubicon was crossed in the pay czar interview overreach caper.  That may have been the only thing that could have broken the Obamedia spell (as opposed to the average, ordinary, run-of-the-mill lefty bias that preceded it).  They were already in The One's rectal cavity, and already vastly outnumbered FNC.  While Fox was doubtless annoying to the West Wing, it was still just a nuisance, as opposed to a genuine threat to Barry O's control of the media. After all, did Hannity or Beck or the rest stop ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, etc. from getting Obama elected in the first place?

But the ObamaHouse couldn't be satisfied with that.  They will not tolerate ANY dissent.  And so the Obamedia could not just ACT totally, subserviently groupiesque, they had to ACTUALLY BE subservient - and subordinate - to the Li'l President as well.  They banned Fox from the White House press pool and, in effect, ORDERED the other networks to both approve the ban and persona non grata-ize FNC as well.

The other nets circled the wagons around Fox not out of a belated media "bipartisanism" or any epiphanous philosophical rapproachment, but out of the Niemöllerian self-interest that finally confronted them like a slap across the face: If this junta would go that far to silence Fox, were any of them safe either?

I think this is why the Tiffany network is now actually scoffing at ObamaHouse spin and regarding The One as somewhat less than the undiminished deity at whose cloven hooves they spent two years worshipping.  And if this "falling away" spreads, if the spell is broken, if the Obamedia fades back into just the liberal/legacy media, and they no longer automatically carry around his dirty PR water in tanker trucks....then the Hussein administration is in deep, deep trouble.
