I don't have anything intrinsic against CFLs; I even use one in the lamp at the desk in my den from which I run the Hard Starboard Galactic Empire.  However, I have huge towering mounds of intrinsic, gutteral againstness for the government FORCING me to use nothing BUT CFLs, because it's none of their damn BUSINESS what kind of bulbs I choose to use.  If I think I'll save a little despite CFLs' higher initial cost and pain-in-the-ass-edness of disposal, it's my decision.  If I decide to pay a nominal additional cost and stick with the horse Thomas Edison rode in on, that's my decision too.

But try telling the greenstremists that:
