Hasan Chop

It happened yesterday afternoon.  As always with breaking stories, (1) I wasn't able to live blog it and (2) even if I had, I'd have been waiting for the shoe that dropped starting in Eeyore's sixteenth update:

Hmmmm: “A senior administration official told NBC News analyst Roger Cressey that the suspect who was in custody was an Army major with an Arabic-sounding name. The official said the shootings could have been a criminal matter rather than a terrorism-related attack and that there was no intelligence to suggest a plot against Fort Hood.”

Update: The suspect’s name, via ABC: Major Malik Nadal Hasan.

The suspected gunman was identified as Major Malik Nadal Hasan. He was killed and two other suspects have been apprehended, Lt. Robert W. Cone said.

The gunman used two handguns, Cone said. He wasn’t sure if the shooter reloaded the weapons during the attack.

The general called the attack “a terrible tragedy, stunning.” He said the community was “absolutely devastated.”

According to Brian Ross at ABC, Hasan was a convert to Islam....

Update: CBS reports that Hasan was a licensed psychiatrist in Maryland, of all things. Meanwhile, Kay Bailey Hutchison apparently has info that Hasan was upset about being deployed to Iraq. Which, without further specifics as to why, doesn’t tell us much given the possible motives in play....

Update: For what it’s worth, an eyewitness report of Arabic being shouted during the attack:

Hunt said his son told him he loaded up many of the wounded and drove them to the hospital. The wounded relayed what they saw inside when the shooting happened.

“They were telling him that one guy was shouting something in Arabic while he was shooting,” Tom Hunt said. “He couldn’t say much more than that.”...

Update: Lots of buzz on Twitter about Shep Smith’s interview with a colleague of Hasan’s who claims he was known to say things about standing up to the American aggressors in the Middle East....

Update: Apparently, one of Hasan’s cousins just told Shep that he’s always been Muslim, not a recent convert....

Update: Here’s the Shep interview with Ret. Col. Terry Lee alleging that Hasan thought Muslims should stand up and fight the “aggressor” and that he was “happy” about the shooting in Little Rock. Apparently Hasan was also increasingly agitated by the fact that Obama hasn’t pulled out of Afghanistan and Iraq.

Update: The circumstantial evidence mounts. This certainly jibes with what Terry Lee told Shep:

Federal law enforcement officials say the suspected Fort Hood, Texas, shooter had come to their attention at least six months ago because of Internet postings that discussed suicide bombings and other threats.

The officials say the postings appeared to have been made by Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, who was killed during the shooting incident that left least 11 others dead and 31 wounded. The officials say they are still trying to confirm that he was the author. They say an official investigation was not opened…

One of the Web postings that authorities reviewed is a blog that equates suicide bombers with a soldier throwing himself on a grenade to save the lives of his comrades....

Update: Another good question from Andy Levy: “If Hassan got poor performance evaluations, why was he promoted to Major in May?” Also, why didn’t they grant him a discharge if what his cousin said is true about him not wanting to deploy since 9/11? Why did they keep this guy around? Fox could track down Terry Lee in a few hours to have him talk about Hasan urging Muslims to stand up to America, but the Army couldn’t do it in a few years?

Update: Here’s what Hasan supposedly wrote about suicide bombers:

“To say that this soldier committed suicide is inappropriate. Its more appropriate to say he is a brave hero that sacrificed his life for a more noble cause,” said the Internet posting. “Scholars have paralled (sic) this to suicide bombers whose intention, by sacrificing their lives, is to help save Muslims by killing enemy soldiers.”...

And on and on it went.  Eeyore stayed on this for the better part of eight hours, with so many updates that I wouldn't be entirely out of bounds to describe the above glomming as fair usage.  My reason for said glomming is that all the elements are here for (1) the REAL story of what this "incident" was: an Islamist attack on U.S. soldiers here in the homeland by a home-grown jihadi on the inside; and (2) how the Obamedia, the ObamaHouse, the Obamunist Party, and I cringe from speculating who else, will conjure up every imaginable excuse to divert, distract, and dissemble the public's attention onto ANYTHING else that will cover Islam's (and left-wing multi-culti-ism's) collective ass.  Because, as we're all supposed to know, there IS no "War on Terror," and never will be, even after all us infidels are dead.

Eeyore's exit question (before half a dozen more updates):

So here’s where we are right now, near 11 p.m. ET. This guy raged about Muslims standing up to aggressors, praised suicide bombers, and the lead theory in the media is … PTSD? For a guy who’s … never been deployed?

So, then.  The sixty-four dollar aftermath question (or as good a one as any to start off with): What the hell was this animal doing (or, at least, STILL doing) in the U.S. Army?

As Bill Engvall likes to say, "Ooooh, this ain't gonna be good":

At least six months ago, Hasan came to the attention of law enforcement officials because of Internet postings about suicide bombings and other threats, including posts that equated suicide bombers to soldiers who throw themselves on a grenade to save the lives of their comrades.

They had not determined for certain whether Hasan is the author of the posting, and a formal investigation had not been opened before the shooting, said law enforcement officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to discuss the case. …

On a form filled out by those seeking spouses through a program at the mosque, Hasan listed his birthplace as Arlington, Virginia, but his nationality as Palestinian, Khan said.

“I don’t know why he listed Palestinian,” Khan said, “He was not born in Palestine.”

And as Bill Cosby once said, "I quoted that story in order to quote this one":

U.S. Representative Michael McCaul, a Republican from Austin, was briefed by military officials and said Hasan had taken some unusual classes for someone studying about mental health.

He took a lot of extra classes in weapons training, which seems a little odd for a psychiatrist,” McCaul said.

McCaul said Hasan had received poor grades for his work at Walter Reed and was not happy about his situation in Fort Hood, where Hasan apparently felt like “he didn’t fit in.”

“He’s disgruntled because he had a poor performance evaluation, he doesn’t believe in the mission, he’s looking at getting transferred to Afghanistan or Iraq,” McCaul said. “He’s not happy about all that.”

McCaul added that officials planned to interview Hasan to try to determine for sure that he was not working with foreign agents.

“From an intelligence standpoint, that’s key, finding out if he talked to anyone overseas,” McCaul said.

This was not "post-traumatic stress disorder," you can't suffer from it vicariously, and there's no such THING as "pre-traumatic stress disorder".  He's not a "lunatic" who "went postal" spontaneously.  He's a long-time Muslim fundamentalist who's had a long-time problem with his own country and its prosecution of the war his "religious" brethren launched against us and was well-prepared for his own embrace of "jihad" against the "infidels".  Law enforcement AND the army knew about all the red flags and warning signs months in advance.  And they did.....nothing.  And now thirteen Americans, twelve of them unarmed soldiers (because, naturally, we can't trust soldiers with weapons - unless they have "Arabic-sounding names," of course....) are dead and another thirty-one maimed because of it.  And they're to be considered....what?  The "small price to pay" for the "diversity" that "keeps us strong"?

Another Eeyore summation:

[Hasan] considered the war on terror a “war on Islam” and himself a Muslim first and an American second; he thought Muslims had the right to stand up to the “aggressor” in the Middle East and is suspected of posting things online about the selfless heroism of jihadist suicide bombers; he was placed on probation for proselytizing about Islam to patients and colleagues and was sufficiently devout that he refused to have his picture taken with women; he once used a lecture at a medical conference as an opportunity to discuss how the Koran orders decapitation for infidels; and, oh yes, he yelled “Allahu Akbar” before opening fire.

If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then obviously it must be a water buffalo, because we're all supposed to know that ducks do...not...exist.

Meanwhile, back in reality, the civilization with which we're NOT CLASHING has scored a baker's dozen more infidel scalps.  And you know what?  It won't matter.  It didn't matter after the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, it didn't matter after the Khobar Towers attack in '96, it didn't matter after the U.S. embassy bombings in Africa in '08, and it didn't matter after the bombing of the USS Cole in 2000.  We were in an escalating war whose existence we simply refused to acknowledge.  9/11 changed that....for a while.  Now it's ancient history, and the Obamunists are burying it deeper with each passing day.  Which means that another 9/11 probably won't be enough to tear off the 9/10 stupor; ditto a series of London and Bali-magnitude attacks.

Certainly not an Islamic army shrink doing his duty for Allah.

Does anybody know how many of his co-"religionists" there are in the U.S. military?  Stockpiling bodybags in advance mightn't be a bad idea, if they're not going to pre-emptively prepare any OTHER way.
