Keeping His Friends Close & Our Enemies Closer

I know I toss this rhetorical out there a lot - it's the curse of the hardboiled cynic - but I hafta do so yet again: Can anybody really be surprised by this development?:

A son of Osama bin Laden said about twenty members of his family stranded in Iran are seeking sanctuary in a third country and that the U.S. may agree to accept them.

Omar bin Laden, the al-Qaeda leader’s fourth son, said in an interview with Al Arabiya television that Iran is refusing to allow his relatives to go to Saudi Arabia. Shiite Muslim- dominated Iran is a regional rival of Sunni-ruled Saudi Arabia. Al-Qaeda, a Sunni group, is hostile to Iran.

Yeah, so hostile that they've given shelter and comfort to his entire clan for years.  So hostile that they've reportedly given OBL himself room and board on more than one occasion since 9/11.  So hostile that there's strong evidence the mullahs had a helping hand in the 9/11 plot themselves, and are backing and aiding the Taliban in Afghanistan against U.S. forces.

Sunni al Qaeda and Shiite Iran have sectarian differences, but they have that which unites Muslims of all stripes: a rabid, abiding, murderous hatred of Israel, the West in general, and the Great Satan in particular.

Sorry for the little detour, but that Obamedia myth has to be stamped out at every opportunity, no matter how long it takes.

“The Americans offered to help them out of Iran and even hinted at the possibility of receiving them in the U.S.,” he said in the interview, which was aired late yesterday and posted on the Dubai-based channel’s website. Omar bin Laden said none of his brothers has been accused of terrorism by the U.S. or any other country.

The elder bin Laden’s relatives held under house arrest in Iran include five of his children and one of his wives, Al Arabiya said. The family had been living in Afghanistan and fled to Iran after the U.S. military began air strikes on the country following the September 11 attacks in 2001.

See?  They're "victims" of "U.S. aggression" for which Red Barry wishes to "make amends," and probably even "pay reparations".  Maybe he'll meet with them to award them each the Medal of Freedom at the Ground Zero mosque when it's complete next year on the tenth anniversary of "Holy Tuesday".

Here's a question: If/when bin Laden is ever taken alive, and Eric The Red puts OBL in the civilian criminal justice system to be tried in downtown Manhattan - maybe in adjoining courtrooms with KSM? - will his family be allowed into the courtroom to cheer their patriarch on?

Trust me, gentlebeings, it's a fair question:

President Obama's good friend, former PLO mouthpiece Rashid Khalidi, is back in the news. He has signed an appeal for funds to outfit another ship that, like the "peace flotilla," would try to break Israel's blockade of Gaza, the territory controlled by Hamas — the foreign terrorist organization that is the Muslim Brotherhood's Palestinian arm.

Well, why not?  Is that a bigger outrage than the regime itself pouring hundreds of millions of dollars of "aide" into Hamas' waiting, greedy, bloodthirsty coffers?  This is like the jock in high school history class hitting the teacher in the back of the head with a spitwad while he's writing at the blackboard (Am I dating myself with that reference?) and then framing the class nerd for it, and as the latter is being marched off to the principal's office, the jock grins and flips him off.

I don't know where The One keeps getting all these fingers.  Maybe he sneaks off to Wendy's for chili on a daily basis when Scheherezade The Health Nazi isn't looking.
