One Of Obama's Armus Goals Achieved?

The bankruptcy of British Petroleum - of which this would be an at least noteworthy, leading-edge sign:

Hundreds of fishermen from Lake Charles to Moss Point, Mississipi, were supposed to get checks from BP on Wednesday but didn’t.  Wednesday night, their lawyer wanted answers.  Jeffrey Briet represents more than five hundred fishermen, and he said the payment system he set up with BP required his clients to be paid every thirty days.

Now that process has suddenly changed without warning, Briet said.

“Not only did they spring it on us that the process has changed, but the people I’ve been dealing with for six weeks who’ve done a good job said, ‘We don’t know what the process is going to be. We’re not authorized to talk to you about it. Someone from BP will contact you,’” he said.

But Briet said he hasn’t heard from BP or its lawyers. He said the claims people have been given so much conflicting information about the process that they can’t provide answers.

Oh, come on, what's to worry about, right?  BP's good for it.  And shoot, if they're not, they can just go out and borrow it or fire up Helicopter Ben's printing presses, right?  All they have to do is have Red Barry "bail them out," and then Obama Petroleum will swoop in and save the day!  Heck, if The One had just nationalized BP by Executive diktat two months ago, none of this would have ever happened, right?  And then OP can go into the "alternative fuels" business full time instead of just dabbling in it on the side for PR purposes, a PINO (petroleum in name only) state-owned oil company much like NASA is now a SINO (space in name only) state-owned space agency.

What any of that has to do with plugging the damn hole and cleaning up the damn mess is anybody's guess.  But I imagine that the White House considers the crisis to be "solved" by virtue of Lucifer's Oilyvet Discourse.  Because in Obamatopia, actions and leadership are irrelevant, and only empty verbal fecality matters.

Certainly the Chicago Cherubim's focus today bolsters that conclusion:

At a Missouri fundraiser today, President Obama brought up Joe Barton and his apology to BP again, twenty-two days after the hearing in which the Texas Republican made his infamous remarks.

Meanwhile, also per J-Ger:

A new simulation “shows oil passing through the narrow channel between the tip of the Florida peninsula and the Bahamas before spreading into the Atlantic in August, then washing ashore on southeastern beaches in October or November.”

There’s a report of tar balls on Florida’s east coast, off Cape Cavaveral.

Aaaannnnd the ChiComms and Cubans, those exemplars of ecological vigilence, are soon going to be drilling for OUR oil and natural gas sixty miles off the Florida keys.  Probably with what used to be our rigs.  And Red Barry will probably subsidize it, just like he did Brazil's offshore deepwater drilling efforts.

But at least we'll be killing birds by the thousands with all those NIMBY windmill turbines instead of drowning in oil, as the inhabitants of the Gulf Coast states slowly starve to death.  And British Petroleum will rest in peace.  Hopey-changy, joy joy.
