Selective Modesty
There was no finer expression of belief in American exceptionalism than Kennedy’s. Obama has a different take. As he said last year in Strasbourg, “I believe in American exceptionalism, just as I suspect that the Brits believe in British exceptionalism and the Greeks believe in Greek exceptionalism.” Which of course means: If we’re all exceptional, no one is.
It has long been obvious that Barack Obama doesn't think much of his own country. He has apologized for America on every trip he has made overseas and in nearly every speech. He bows to dictators, as if they were America's equal or even her superior. Have you ever heard him speak in glowing terms of his country? Compare his brand of patriotism to that of Ronald Reagan. Reagan made us proud to be American, Obama thinks patriotism is tacky. It oozes out of him every time he's in front of a camera. He is not proud of this country. I think he's ashamed of it, and he obviously feels it needs to be cut down to size and reshaped in his socialist image. If we don't get conservative majorities back in November, he might just do it.
