The Empire Strikes Back

The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that the Obamunist counter-attack against the Breitbart anti-NASCP bombshell of making it all about Shirley Sherrod, the (at one time) racist woman in the vid, by firing her ass with extreme [ahem] prejudice, was a defensive propaganda masterstroke.

No matter how clumsily they went about it:

ROBERTS: Miss Sherrod, let's make it clear though, that this happened twenty-four years ago. You eventually worked with this white farmer. You eventually became friends, you say, with the farmer and his wife.

SHERROD: Yes.

ROBERTS: So, the question I have is, when the U.S. Department of Agriculture came to you and said you have to step down, why didn't you just say, wait a minute, you don't know the full story. Here's the full story, why should I step down?

SHERROD: I did say that, but they, for some reason, the stuff that Fox and the Tea Party does is scaring the administration. I told them get the whole tape and look at the whole tape and look at how I tell people we have to get beyond race and start working together.

ROBERTS: Many people at home might be thinking if you're recounting an old story, why did you succumb to pressure to step down, why didn't you fight this?

SHERROD: If I tried to fight it and didn't have any support from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, what would I do?

CHETRY: Let me ask you this. Did you talk to the NAACP about it because I just want to read from our audience what Ben Jealous, the president said. He said referring to you and this surfacing of the tape, "her actions were shameful. While she went on to explain in the story, she ultimately realized her mistake as well as the common predicament of working people of all races. She gave no indication she'd attempted to right the wrong she had done to this man. And the reaction from many in the audience is disturbing."

This is from Ben Jealous. Did you try to clarify with the NAACP your story?

SHERROD: No, I haven't had had a chance to talk to anyone. All of this was happening so fast. And it's unfortunate that the NAACP would make a statement without even checking to see what happened. This was twenty-four years ago, and I'm telling a story to try to unite people with that now.

I'm not insisting that there's - what's the right word? - a conspiracy going on here, but it seems to me that the Agriculture Police swinging the axe on Double-S the same day as the first installment of the new Breitbart series, and the NASCP cyclops knocking over old ladies and potted plants in his haste to get in front of a camera to condemn her when there were already reports that his organization had the full tape from which the clip had been exerpted - well, let's just say there appears to be a great deal of "coordinated messaging" going on pretty much simultaneously.

I don't know whether Sherrod was in on it or whether, as a typical Obamunist, she's ideologically paranoid, but I can't help but note that she invoked the "FoxNews" and "Tea Party" [!] boogeystrawmen, when it was Breitbart that ran the vid - which wasn't specifically about her but the first example of many to come about what a racist cesspool the NASCP itself is.  A contention that remains unchallenged.  Which is why they needed to change the subject (right, Spencer?).

It didn't take long for them to pick up on Sherrod's lead:

With regard to the initial media coverage of the resignation of USDA official Shirley Sherrod, we have come to the conclusion we were snookered by Fox News and Tea Party Activist Andrew Breitbart into believing she had harmed white farmers because of racial bias.

Having reviewed the full tape, spoken to Ms. Sherrod, and most importantly heard the testimony of the white farmers mentioned in this story, we now believe the organization that edited the documents did so with the intention of deceiving millions of Americans.

The fact is Ms. Sherrod did help the white farmers mentioned in her speech. They personally credit her with helping to save their family farm.

See how the shift takes place?  Sherrod absorbs the blow then redirects it at the Left's original target as "proof" of the NASCP's original anti-TP slander, and all the "playahs" fall into the new propaganda counter-line.

Including.....Glenn Beck???

Sigh.  I guess this just goes to show that some things never change, and that includes the Right's unwillingness - and, let's be brutally honest, inability - to turn their political enemies' own tactics against them.  If you reverse the polarity of this affair, Shirley Sherrod is the new Sarah Palin, her "story to tell" is buried deeper than DeepWaterHorizon, and the NASCP is under ferocious pressure to disband or facing mass lynching.  But no; our side insists on being "fair" to its foes, even though that "fairness" will never be recupricated and will ALWAYS keep our throats under The Narrative's jackboot.

I guess that's why I'm indifferent to whether Double-S gets her AgDept job back.  Now that she's a racial cause celebre, she'll be taken care of handsomely regardless of where she ends up.  Guaranteed there's probably a media career in front of her if she wants it, complete with book deal to "tell her story" of "racial redemption" or whatever.  She'll be rewarded for her sacrifices, inadvertent or calculated.  The Left always takes good care of their "good soldiers".

Ironically - or maybe tellingly - the one Left entity that didn't come out of this incident smelling like a rose was the head of the snake, which made its slithering look like a serpent with cerebral palsey:

Here’s Vilsack’s statement:

“Yesterday, I asked for and accepted Ms. Sherrod’s resignation for two reasons. First, for the past eighteen months, we have been working to turn the page on the sordid civil rights record at USDA and this controversy could make it more difficult to move forward on correcting injustices. Second, state rural development directors make many decisions and are often called to use their discretion. The controversy surrounding her comments would create situations where her decisions, rightly or wrongly, would be called into question making it difficult for her to bring jobs to Georgia.

“Our policy is clear. There is zero tolerance for discrimination at USDA and we strongly condemn any act of discrimination against any person. We have a duty to ensure that when we provide services to the American people we do so in an equitable manner. But equally important is our duty to instill confidence in the American people that we are fair service providers.”

Contrary to what some are reporting, the White House was not involved in Sherrod’s dismissal. A White house official told Mediaite “We did not pressure her to resign. It was the Secretary’s decision.”

Which, for whatever it's worth, isn't what Sherrod claims.  And since she's now the sainted victim in this equation, and the White House finds itself in the rogue's gallery with its erstwhile demonizees Fox and the Tea Party - to say nothing of its burgeoningly legendary Burma Shave trail of mendacities - which has the greater credibility?

All of which means Ballsack will be the fall guy.  But that's okay, because he's a white devil anyway, even if he was only following the Post-Racial Healer's orders.  Why else does The One have crackers in his regime at all?
