The Superior Insane Slanderer
Here are two Donk yIntagh who couldn't put their own seats in jeopardy no matter what they did, but who are two delightful poster brats to clean out dozens of their breed from Capitol Hill in the fall.
First, the appetizer, Steve Rothman (D-NJ9):
Noonan sums it up in a nutshell: "These guys are just caught in a vise – they are so used to being relentlessly dishonest and never getting caught at it that they simply don’t know what to do when the truth comes out."
I try to put myself in Rothman's shoes and picture how I would have reacted to having had audio of my voice from eleven months ago promising to oppose O-Care if it didn't have portability provisions played right in front of me after having voted for an O-Care bill that STILL didn't have portability, and the best I can come up with is that I would have either been rendered speechless with a deer-in-the-headlights expression (which no pol can EVER do) or said something like, "You know what? You're right. I said I wouldn't vote for health care reform without portability and I ended up voting for it. But here's why....", and then given my explanation. It wouldn't have made his questioner any less hostile, but at least it would have been somewhat leveling with his constituents. Certainly a darned sight less damaging than obfuscation, followed by an "I'm rubber, you're glue, everything you say bounces off me and sticks to you" lie and an angry filibuster.
Here, though, for your viewing revulsion, is the main course:
Sure, this clip is comedically illustrative of Sheila Jackson-Lee's abject stupidity. Sure, "two Vietnams side by side" is almost as big a boner as "Why didn't Pathfinder take a pic of Neil Armstrong's U.S. flag?", no doubt to soon be followed up by, "Why didn't Spirit or Opportunity see the Decepticons like the Beagle II did?" After all, we MUST make friends with the Islamic Fundamentalists fanatically determined to kill us all, but invading alien robots are a REAL threat.
Along with, of course, the TPu TPlux TPlan:
And I thank you professor very much. I’m going to be engaging you with those very powerful numbers that you have offered on what the tea party recognizes, uh, or is recognized as. Might I add my own P.S.? All those who wore sheets a long time ago have now lifted them off and started wearing [applause], uh, clothing, uh, with a name, say, I am part of the tea party. Don’t you be fooled. [voices: "That's right.", applause] Those who used to wear sheets are now being able to walk down the aisle and speak as a patriot because you will not speak loudly about the lack of integrity of this movement. Don’t let anybody tell you that those who spit on us as we were walking to vote on a health care bill for all of America or those who said Congresswoman Jackson-Lee’s braids were too tight in her hair had anything to do with justice and equality and empowerment of the American people. Don’t let them fool you on that [applause]….
Behold abject stupidity intermixed with rampaging malevolence. Lee utters this blood libel without the slightest clue as to what the KKK was or how and from where it arose:
All she knows or cares about is, "I hate the Tea Party; the Tea Party is my political enemy; the KKK was evil personified; ergo, the Tea Party grew straight out of the KKK." One might call it reckless ignorance, because whether she knew what she was saying is utter garbage or not, she would have said it anyway in order to do everything humanly possible to destroy TPers pesonally and politically.
Make no mistake about it, my brethren and sistren, what took place at that NASCP coven this week is the grand bull moose gold medal winner of evil personified. And flagrant evil committed into, rather than with, the prevailing political headwinds is a recipe for electoral disaster.
So consider this humble contribution to the virality of Donk self-destruction to be my PSA of the day.
You're welcome.
