A Maelstrom Of Regrets

You know who "regrets" The One's calculated pro-Ground Zero mosque comments from last Friday?  The [overwhelming majority of] 9/11 families.  Almost as much, I'll wager, as....well, you know, even if Cap'n Sensitivity doesn't:

Running interference for GZM - in the name of (one-way) tolerance! - is of the same breed as the Enemy Media blacking out any pictures or videos of "Holy Tuesday" from the earliest post-9/11 days and every September since.  The great unwashed can't be reminded of what Islamic Fundamentalists did to us nine years ago, and the far worse things they lust to do to us in the future, because whatever they do to us, it is and always will be our fault.  Bin Laden could realize his sinister dream of four million slaughtered American civilians and Muslims would still be the "official" victims of "American imperialism".  The Iranian mullahgarchy could pull off a successful electromagnetic pulse attack on the continental U.S., leading to the chaotic, Resident Evil-esque death of tens of millions of us, and multi-culti ideology would still insist that WE are the oppressors, and they our "victims".

Because, you see, in leftwingnut dogma, objective facts are irrelevant, while political "facts" are the coin of the realm.  The objective facts of 9/11 are what drive the overwhelming public opposition to the GZM, versus the political "facts" which motivate Barack Obama's pro-mosque stance and are propelling the insane Obamedia meltdown banzai charge into the teeth of that public opposition.

You know the the conductor's axiom:

1) The conductor is always right.

2) If the conductor is ever wrong, refer to rule #1.

The liberal mindset puts them at the top of the intellectual food chain.  Their dogma tells them they are smarter, worthier, superior in every way, and that entitles them to lecture and hector and instruct and control and dominate and rule us.  There is no room in that dogma for the possibility that they might ever be wrong about anything.  They cannot abide it, and they do not tolerate it.  And when they're outnumbered, they lash out in moral outrage.

Which is fine and dandy for the talking heads, but is a little bit more complicated for Donk officeholders in the midst of an electoral death spiral.  How much more complicated?  Behold the chicken with lips:

As Ron White once said, "I shit you not."

Did Dr. Demented undergo brain replacement surgery when nobody was looking?  Possibly.  Does he believe a conciliatory word he's saying?  Not a freakin' chance.  Is he looking at internal Donk poll numbers that as big a killjoy as Eeyore describes as "terrifying" and, in tactical political terms, become a born-again Clintonoid?  Definitely.

This GZM cluster is, indeed, a teachable moment - just not in the way Red Barry thinks it is.  It is, rather, an altogether appropriate bookend to the 9/11 attacks themselves.  If the Gore Rebellion sent the Left off the cliff into the land of insanity, "Holy Tuesday" made it permanent by giving the Bushitler a presidency-defining, and wildly popular, mission that more or less guaranteed him a second term.  We coined many terms for it - "BDS" (Bush Derangement Syndrome) and my own "Bushophobia" - but it amounted to a blind, irrational, unquenchable hatred for George W. Bush and everything he stood for and everyone and thing with which he was even casually linked, affiliated, or connected.  That naturally included his robustly aggressive stance in defense of the nation against its Islamic Fundamentalist enemies and their state sponsors, which made those enemies their allies almost by definition.

Which is why, in turn, to reassure Mark Halperin, I believe Lucifer when he says he "has no regrets" about endorsing GZM:

Why would he regret it?  It's what he really believes.  It's consistent with his radical, Americaphobic background and worldview.  You know that a person's initial, gut reaction to a question is almost always the most candid one, even for blanket liars.  And his contempt for the vast majority of the American people is long, infamous, and well-documented.

Besides, even if triangulation played a large (or larger) part in his Ramadan remarks and it backfired on him, what would descending even further into incoherence accomplish for him and his doomed party except stoke their own base's anger without for a moment assuaging the other side or indies?  Better to own it and retain at least a shot at eventually becoming a Donk elder statesman someday than to get himself completely voted off the island.

Heck, it worked for Jimmy Carter, and look how many years it took him to become kissin' cousins with Khaled Mashaal.
