An Unexpected Increase
Really? ObamaCare is going to hit large employers with a 9% increase in health care premium costs next year? It'll be that low?
Annnnnnd now we know WHY it'll be that low: Higher company co-pays (my employer's just doubled), reduction in benefits (ours still went up 8%, to which it was whittled from 18% under our previous carrier), dumping of retirees onto the Medicare/Medicaid dole, and a much narrower applicability of O-Care's dubious "tax credits" than originally advertised:
Fewer than two million of the nation’s six million companies with employees qualify for the small-business tax credits included in the new health insurance reform law, says the National Federation of Independent Business.
The law’s supporters had projected that twice as many small businesses would qualify for the tax credit. NFIB has joined a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the health care law.
An employer with seventeen workers and an average wage of $39,000 will not qualify for a tax credit, NFIB says. Also, none of the twenty three million-plus self employed Americans can get the tax credit either.
Oh, I left out one other employer cost-limiting factor: They won't be hiring anybody, either.
Go ahead, Donks, defend your majorities on the glories and miracles of ObamaCare.
Do it.
I dare you.
Heck, I'm BEGGING you.
