Breaking Point
No, Grahamnesty isn't serious about getting serious about cracking down on illegal immigration. But then, you already knew that.
***But these guys are, in an immigration control agency that is militantly and lawlessly pro-Obamnesty:
In an unprecedented move within the Department of Homeland [In]Security, the detention and removal officers and agents responsible for and sworn to enforcing our nation's immigration laws issued an exhaustive, scathing letter simply titled "VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE IN ICE DIRECTOR JOHN MORTON AND ODPP ASSISTANT DIRECTOR PHYLLIS COVEN" on June 11, 2010. The letter, acquired through sources, provides a litany of examples of how ICE's mission is being skewed towards supporting an unflinching goal of amnesty by refusing to allow agents to do their job; allowing criminal aliens to roam free; depleting resources for key enforcement initiatives that preceded this administration; and misrepresenting facts and programs, demeaning the extent of the criminal alien problem and geared to support amnesty.
Sounds an awful lot like what's going on over at the Department of Injustice & Revenge with Eric The Red's militant and lawless pro-voter-intimidation policy. It's Barack Obama's responsibility to enforce the WHOLE law AS IT IS WRITTEN, and changing or replacing or repealing any laws he doesn't like is supposed to be pursued legislatively. But he doesn't recognize anything so bougeoise as constitutional limitations on his power; to him the U.S. Code is a partisan cafeteria where he can and does pick and choose which laws he wants to enforce and how, which laws he wants to twist, and which laws he will simply ignore.
This is why talk of impeaching The One over this, while it will never actually happen, is nonetheless entirely within the political mainstream. A lawless, rogue, imperial presidency is precisely the sort of contingency for which impeachment was designed and intended. One would like to think that the next election could take care of that, but if Red Barry's "dangerously authoritarian" streak shifts into maximum overdrive after Congress goes Republican in November, would Speaker Boehner have the luxury of letting him run wild for another two years?
***That potential concern may help explain this little bit 'o White House hand-waving:
House Democrats are considering adding a border security bill to the agenda when lawmakers return to vote on emergency aid for states.
Under pressure from the White House, Democratic leaders in the House were discussing on Friday the possibility of adding the Senate border security bill or a similar item to their mid-recess schedule next week.
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano told reporters on Friday that the administration has been in talks with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA8) office, pressing the lower chamber to take up the measure when it returns next week to vote on a $26 billion state aid package.
No, no, don't pay attention to our deliberate dereliction of duty to enforce existing immigration laws or our developing plans to issue a blanket Obamnesty by executive decree; look OVER HERE at how we're pressuring Congress to pass a border security bill that is meaningless anyway since we're already not enforcing existing immigration law.
The One pooped his PR pants on Arizona SB1070 and needs some sort of fig leaf. But that's all it'll be if House Dems pass one. The bigger border erasure endgame will remain, unchanged and getting closer all the time, the America people's will be damned.
