Freefall
(a) lefty stats guru Nate Silver was warning progressives that they don’t fully grasp how terrifying the generic ballot polling is for Democrats, and (b) the Cook Report was declaring that fully sixty-eight Democratic seats are now rated merely lean Democrat or toss-up,....my aggregate formula based upon that terrifying general ballot polling shows a GOP House gain of sixty-seven seats, BTW.
And this is what the Donks have to defend them: POTUS and TOTUS:
Where to start? It's incomplete, it's inaccurate, it's cliched. Republicans haven't had the numbers to obstruct anything. All his and the Pelosi Politburo's ObamaCare efforts were devoted to bulldozing their own rank & file into falling into line. And as his "I won" flip-off baldly communicated, they didn't WANT GOP cooperation because they didn't want to share the "glory" they were SO SURE ramming the "progressive" agenda through Washington would reap them. How's that one working out for ya, Barry?“You remember our slogan during the campaign — yes, we can. Their slogan is ‘no, we can’t,’” he said to laughter from the Democratic fundraiser crowd. “No, we can’t. It’s really inspiring.”
Obama said that all Republicans have done is obstruct the agenda he and his fellow Democrats are pushing in Washington.
“No on help for small businesses, no on middle-class tax cuts, no on clean-energy jobs, no on making college more affordable, no on Wall Street reform,” he said.
But above all else, it's.....lame. HE's lame. In effect, he's still riffing on his 2008 material. And the last year and a half has conclusively demonstrated that....no, we can't. No, we can't spend ourselves rich. No, we can't tax ourselves to prosperity. No, we can't borrow ourselves solvent. No, we can't regulate ourselves to freedom. No, we can't power the massive, technological infrastructure of a huge, continental nation on twenty-fourth century energy sources we don't understand nearly well enough to economically tap and utilize in a Stalinesque "great leap forward". No, we can't make water run uphill, the sun reverse its course through the sky, turn water into wine, lower the seas, plug the damn hole, stir the drink, cure the heartbreak of psoriasis, solve the ancient Chinese secret, get more Calgon, save 15% or more on car insurance, or make Elena Kagan look any less like Eleanor Roosevelt. None of these things are a matter of subjective partisan opinion; they're simply counter-factual.
What is now finally dawning on the Left is what the rest of us realized a long, long time ago: Barack Obama is NOT "some kind of a god," but some kind of a FRAUD. Just another in a long line of extremist demagogues down through the centuries who used charisma and a flair for the oratorical to sway and manipulate a vulnerable populace to turn off their critical thinking capabilities and common sense and swallow his Big Lies because they sounded sooooooooo good. But the snake oil still doesn't work, and the public inevitably figures it out. And when they do, it's curtains - either for the demagogue, or for the democratic society that suicidally elected him.
The swindle for libs is that politics did not, after all, end on November 4th, 2008. The permanent Donk realignment has not, after all, taken place. America is still, after all, a center-right country. And still, at least nominally, a constitutional republic, where even self-styled "rulers" are subject to the (gamed) electoral authority of the "ruled".
You know the old saying: the bigger they are, the harder they fall.
Well, how's this for a ker-splat?:
Observeth J-Ger, no unhatched chicken-counter he:Illinois voters say they would be negatively influenced if a candidate was endorsed by Barack Obama. And if his support isn’t an asset in his home state it’s hard to imagine where it is.
40% of voters in the state say they’d be less likely to support an Obama endorsed candidate to only 26% who say it would be an asset. The reality at this point is that Obama turns Republican voters off to a much greater extent than he excites Democrats. That’s reflected in the fact that 83% of Republicans say an Obama endorsement would be a negative with them while only 49% of Democrats say it would be a positive. Independents also respond negatively by a 38/19 margin.
The numbers on an Obama endorsement are perhaps more relevant with undecided voters. Among those who have not yet made up their minds in the Senate race 21% say an Obama endorsement would resonate positively with them while 33% say it would be a turnoff.
We’re hearing a lot of talk about Obama being a one-term president, his presidency is over, etcetera, etcetera. Most of this is premature. But if Obama has become a political liability in Illinois . . . well, he’s really in the depths, and it’s quite possible he’ll never recover. As much of a palate-cleanser as that story is, I've saved the best treat for dessert:
The advice from Democratic consultants and strategists is almost unanimous: Run away from the president, and fast. A prominent Democratic pollster is circulating a survey that shows GEORGE W. BUSH IS SIX POINTS MORE POPULAR in “Frontline” districts — seats held by Democrats that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee sees as most vulnerable to Republican takeover. That Bush is more popular than Obama in Democratic-held seats is cause for outright fear. …
“He is a walking radioactive disaster,” one senior Democratic operative said of the president. But any effort to seriously distance oneself from Obama is dangerous for an incumbent; go too hard against the president and voters think the candidate is faking it.
You're welcome.
So let's add this up. Every last one of Red Barry's so-called "accomplishments" is detested by large majorities of the electorate. It's too late for Dems to escape his malign influence. Dubya is more popular with their constituents, killing the "BushBushBushBushBush" line of last resort. And spraying pork in every direction is as radioactive as their Savior. I do believe the Donkeys have nowhere to go....except to start "hitting the floor". Hard.
But don't worry, Jackasses - you've got him:
It has since become the Mr. Potato Head of campaign stump speech metaphors.
The president keeps expanding on it. This week, as he repeated it at fundraisers across the country, it continued to balloon into several paragraphs and with bells and whistles tacked on in all directions.
Obama changes features around. He introduces new characters. He adds new props. The other day he decided Republicans were sipping Slurpees as they watched Democrats dig out the car. (Incidentally, Obama is the only president to ever use the word “Slurpee” in a speech, according to the archives of The American Presidency Project)…
For a moment during another fundraiser in Chicago that same day, the metaphor even seemed to become too much for Obama.
“I also want to make a simple point — not to belabor this analogy,” he said, “but when you want to go forward, what do you put the car in?
And this time the audience got involved. “D!” the crowd shouted. “D,” Obama replied.
And now I've got yet another nickname for the Chicago Cherubim.
Exit question: Guess who else is more popular than Red Barry in Donk swing districts?
