More Than 100,000 Americans Sign Fred Thompson's Petition to Renew the Bush Tax Cuts

I am pleased to report to you that our campaign to Renew the Bush Tax Cuts has gained tremendous momentum -- and we already have over 100,000 Americans signing our petition to Congress.
And thanks to supporters like you Fred Thompson’s powerful TV ad for the League is running on Fox News and other cable networks everywhere.
Americans are angry with Congress. They want the Bush Tax Cuts FULLY renewed.
You can't raise taxes in the middle of a recession -- especially this one.
Pelosi and Obama are so hell-bent on taxing the "rich" that they won't fully renew these cuts -- and will also raise capital gains and dividend taxes.
But, because of your support, the League of American Voter’s TV ad and national petition drive is making a big difference on Capitol Hill.
According to The Hill newspaper, “Democrats will hold a September showdown over trillions of dollars in expiring tax cuts … That would make tax cuts a front-and-center issue in the days leading up to the midterm election.”
Pelosi may not want to do this, but I can tell you that millions of Americans have been informed because of our efforts.
They will most certainly hold the feet of their Congressmen and Senators to the fire right up til election day and after.

We’ve also witnessed an especially virulent response to our efforts from the far-left, who continue to attack the League on MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Show and with internet postings.
Apparently, the far-left has also launched a profanity-laced email campaign against the League.
Most of the emails I cannot share with you for obvious reasons, but here’s just a taste of the venom being directed at the League:
“You parade as ‘real Americans.’ You are not. You are frightened traitors, cowards being led by the nose to this pathetic scrambling to get ‘yours’…” -- Anonymous
“[You are] flat out lying to confuse people…” -- Anonymous
“You’re a bunch of lying weasels… Either You're All STUPID, Or Liars!!!!!......” -- Rich
“Your un-American position is both shameful and, in my opinion, makes you traitors to the American people” -- John M.
The fact is all of the Bush Tax Cuts, affecting every American who pays taxes, expire at the stroke of midnight on December 31, 2010. When this happens, personal income tax rates increase across the board by 10 percent or more.
The capital gains tax will increase by one-third and the dividend rate will almost triple!
What’s more, the “death” tax rears its ugly head again, jumping from 0% to a whopping 55%! The marriage tax penalty returns. Even the child tax credit is cut from $1,000 to $500 per child.
Small businesses and investors are especially targeted by Obama and Pelosi. This means higher unemployment, lower incomes, and stagnant economic growth.
If liberals in Congress simply do nothing, their refusal to act will result in the largest tax hike in American history.
It will be fatal for struggling economy. But you can do something about it.
Dick Morris calls the League "one of the most effective organizations in America" and says "they deserve your support!"
