Y'know, if I hadn't been following American politics in general and the Democrat Party in particular for the past thirty years, I would probably be in conniptions about the heedlessly arrogant symbolism of how King Hussein and Queen Scheherezade are extravagantly enjoying their brutal reign out of our backsides:

Fifty-five fundraisers in not many more days, jamming with Paul McCartney, accepting vee-jay-jaying worship from the View bulldykes, shooting hoops with the Miami Heat, playing more golf than Tiger Wood[s].  Shinola, George W. Bush played golf publicly ONCE during the early days of the Iraq campaign and got flayed alive for it - and never picked up his clubs again for the last five years of his presidency.

But that's a double standard of puerile pettiness as old as the hills that'll be hauled out of the Speaker's office in a few months.  Of which one would only be acutely aware if one had been following American politics in general, and the Democrat Party in particular for the past thirty years.  For current events dilettantes, it's got to be fairly shocking against the backdrop of the pure, sainted, "light-bringing" image St. Barry The Annointed ran under.  Libs have based their Americanized Marxist romanticist creed upon the doctrine that they, and they ALONE, are the personal embodiments of divine "compassion" and the righteous scourges of "greed" and "privilege" and "plutocracy."  And here is their "some kind of a god" and his moll, boots on the American economic throat, living so high on the hog that even Robin Leach would be doubled over in nausea by now.

It just...doesn't look right.  But they don't care, because they know they're worth it:

So why did Mrs. Obama go to Spain at this time? She's not tone-deaf politically. What was behind the "mother-daughter" vacation?

A White House source told me that Blanchard's father passed away and Mrs. Obama was not able to make the funeral at the beginning of July. Blanchard had promised her daughter she would take her to Spain for her birthday. She asked Mrs. Obama and Sasha to come with. (Malia is at overnight camp.)

"She felt it was important as a dear friend to do this," I was told.

Really?  I figured with Spain a thousand ways broke thanks to the "green" anti-energy schemes that Cap'n Rainmaker can't wait to jam down our unwilling gullet, they were hawking their riviera and The Arms was interested in doing a little "shopping".

No question about how she and her entourage are dining:

The AP, quoting a menu released by the palace, said lunch "was Andalusian-style chilled gazpacho soup, char-grilled turbot, veal escalopes with mustard, Oriental rice with sauteed mushrooms, a Mallorca-style vegetable ratatouille and sliced fruit with ice cream, accompanied by wines from the northern regions of Rueda and Rioja."

Ya wanna know how high-falutin' that slop is?  The only terms I recognize are "soup," "char-grilled," "veal," "mustard," the rice and 'shrooms, "vegetable," and the fruity ice cream.  And "wine," which is irrelevant to me since I don't drink.  And I watch the Food Channel (but only for Man vs. Food, since I can't gluttonize anymore without risking a lot more than a case of the winds).  I couldn't imagine the Spanish royal chefs' collective reaction if somebody put in an order for a pork chop and some macaroni & cheese.

All this in full frontality to the paparazzi while fifteen million (and counting) Americans fall into and languish in indefinite unemployment.  But don't worry, because they're worth it.  And if you disagree, you're a dirty, filthy, sheet-wearing, night-riding, goosestepping racist.

Ace has a great top ten list, which is odd because I thought Letterman had killed off that comic template deader than poor Kelsey's nuts.  I guess all it takes is somebody else writing the bit who isn't porking all his female subordinates and isn't defaming Sarah Palin.  Plus it doesn't hurt to ridicule the right people.  Because, you know, they're worth it.
