Nobody Can Do No More
It started, as these stories always do, with a pathetic Dirty Harry Reid confabulation:
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said Wednesday that the Senate’s energy bill is necessary for the “environment and for national security,” adding that the legislation will generate jobs and lower energy costs for consumers.
However, Senator James Inhofe (R-OK), ranking member [and next Chairman] of the Senate Energy and Public Works Committee, in a statement indicated that the Senate’s energy bill will eliminate jobs by making Obama’s oil drilling moratorium permanent.
And don't forget that Pencilneck's own "some kind of a god" himself divined that cripple & tax would "necessarily cause electricity rates to skyrocket". What, is that little bit of candor now "non-functional" as the electoral sea pulls away from the political shoreline?
Right on cue, Donk senators from oil producing states balked at sticking their necks in Dirty Harry's policy nooses:
“The sticking point is a provision of the bill that would eliminate all liability caps on damages from oil spills, a good idea in theory that in practice would drive many small oil companies out of business. Senators Mary Landrieu (D-LA) and Mark Begich (D-AK), among others, have expressed opposition to lifting the cap, and Reid probably cannot pass a bill without their votes.”
Ah, yes, the old "unintended consequences" bugaboo. Not unlike how Landrieu and Begich would be driven out of office in 2014 if they were daft enough to bugger their constituents at Pencilneck's behest.
And so Senator "No One Can Do More" began quietly running Kerry-Boxer back down the legislative flagpole:
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) had declared July the month to debate and pass comprehensive energy reform legislation.
Instead, the Senate will likely spend only a day this week on a narrow oil-spill response bill that appears fated to stall because of another Republican filibuster. The Senate is scheduled to take a recess until mid-September after this week, giving lawmakers a chance to campaign back in their home states.
Energy legislation isn’t even on the top of this week’s agenda.
That was Monday. On Tuesday he scratched it altogether, whining....
"It's a sad day when you can't find a handful of Republicans to support a bill" that holds BP accountable and creates green jobs, Reid complained to reporters, according to the Hill.
Or Democrats either, evidently. Hey, Harry, we know the GOP is mocked as the "Stupid Party," but even they aren't THAT stupid. Which speaks volumes about your mental wattage.
Happily, Aereon isn't leaving that task to implicitness:
A nice mix of ridicule and brass knuckles. With Nevada in a bona fide depression, no amount of attempted "vaporization" can save Harry Reid if Sharron Angle keeps stomping that "primary target".
Beat the economic angle to death, Sharron, and you'll kick that mouthy old bastard's ass all the way back to Searchlight - and beyond.
