How's THAT for "sustainability"?  Cut state pension increases now, or there won't BE any state pension system later.  Couldn't be simpler to understand.  And it's the truth.

Contra Eeyore's wail, "that degree of adulthood" WILL be viable at the national level for the same reason that it is proving viable in a state as "blue" as New Jersey: There's no other choice.  And when you treat voters like adults instead of children, you might be pleasantly surprised at the [ahem] response you receive.
