Taking America Back

Senate Conservatives Fund
Dear Friends:

Everywhere I go, people tell me they want to take their country back. They're tired of the spending, bailouts, and debt coming out of Washington and they want someone in Congress to stand up for the principles of freedom.

I started the Senate Conservatives Fund as a way to fight back against the reckless policies that are destroying our nation. I started SCF because the only way to save our country is to elect principled leaders to Congress who have the courage to stand up to the big spenders in both political parties.

2010 BattlegroundOver the past year, we have endorsed a number of outstanding candidates. Each one of these leaders demonstrated two things: first, an unwavering commitment to conservative principles, and second, strong grassroots support from the voters who know them best.

In race after race, we ignored the advice of the Washington establishment and backed the candidates supported by the American people. We gave these leaders our endorsement, we raised money for their campaigns, and we made the investments needed to push them over the top.

This has not been an easy task. The elites in Washington have attacked us every step of the way. They said that our candidates were too conservative to win as if voters dislike principled leadership. And they raised hundreds of thousands of dollars from special interests to stop our insurgent candidates.

We overcame the obstacles because of your generous support and we did what many believed was impossible.
  • Pat ToomeyIn Pennsylvania, conservative Pat Toomey became so strong that Arlen Specter had to leave the party and was eventually defeated in the Democratic primary. Now Toomey leads in the polls against liberal Rep. Joe Sestak (D).
  • Marco RubioIn Florida, conservative Marco Rubio also became so strong that Charlie Crist had to leave the party and will be defeated once and for all in November. In fact, Rubio now leads Crist by 5 percentage points in the most recent Rasmussen Reports survey.
  • Rand PaulIn Kentucky, conservative Rand Paul defeated a good ol' boy Republican who had the support of the top political brass in Kentucky and the nation. Now Dr. Paul leads Jack Conway (D) in every public poll despite being viciously attacked by the liberal media.
  • Mike LeeIn Utah, conservative Mike Lee eliminated an 18-year, big-spending Republican at the GOP state nominating convention and went on to win the primary. Now, Lee leads his Democratic rival by 30 percentage points.
  • Sharron AngleIn Nevada, conservative Sharron Angle defeated a field of candidates who had more money and name recognition for the chance to face Harry Reid. Despite criticism from the Washington establishment, Angle remains just a couple points behind Reid.
  • Ken BuckIn Colorado, conservative Ken Buck came out of nowhere to defeat his Washington-picked opponent in the Republican primary this week. Now Buck leads Michael Bennet, President Obama's hand-picked, appointed Senator, by 5 percentage points.

  • Dino RossiIn Washington, conservative Dino Rossi will secure his place on the ballot later this month, allowing him to face off against liberal Senator Patty Murray (D) in November. Recent polls show Rossi gaining and now within the margin of error.

  • Ron JohnsonIn Wisconsin, Ron Johnson will lock up his primary in September as he speeds down the track to defeat liberal Senator Russ Feingold (D). Johnson is surging so quickly in the polls that one of the nation's top political handicappers recently move the race to "Lean Republican."
Working together, we've helped 8 of the nation's top conservatives get into position to win these important Senate seats. Now we need to finish what we started and help them win in November.

The mainstream media and the elites in Washington say our candidates aren't as electable as unprincipled moderates. They have tried to marginalize them by calling their support for the constitution "extreme" and constantly portraying them as different from the usual politician. Well, compared to the political class in Washington, they are different... and that's exactly what this country needs!

Americans believe what's truly "extreme" is a $13 trillion debt, reckless spending, and a lack of commitment to the Constitution. And voters are enthusiastically supporting these conservative candidates because they are authentic leaders with the common sense and faith in our founding principles that is lacking in Washington.

I am just as confident our candidates can win in November as I was that they could win their primaries. Conservative principles transcend political labels and they're attractive to a majority of Americans. It's not about right vs. left, it's about up vs. down and about surviving as a nation vs. losing our greatness.

We can win these races and we can take America back if we're willing to do the hard work that's required.

To achieve conservative victories in November, the Senate Conservatives Fund has set a goal of investing $5 million in the eight contests listed above. We've designed a new website to track our progress and to allow you to easily contribute to multiple candidates with one simple credit card transaction.

You can enter your own preferred contribution amounts for each candidate OR you can use our "easy" button to automatically allocate your total contribution to all of the candidates based on our internal candidate needs assessment. We're constantly watching these races to determine where our support is needed most to ensure the greatest number of victories.

And as you know, 100% of the contributions made to candidates through the Senate Conservatives Fund go directly to their campaigns. They don't have to pay processing fees and they get the benefit of knowing the support came from principled conservatives, standing with them in the fight for our nation's future.

The membership of the Senate Conservatives Fund is strong but in order to win in November it needs to become much stronger. Please forward this email and send our website (http://senateconservatives.com) to anyone who might be willing to support our cause.

Together, we're going to prove the naysayers wrong, we're going to buck the system, and we're going to take our country back.

Respectfully,
Jim DeMint Signature
