Ten Weeks Out
![]() |
| Dear Friends: I'm proud to report that we're making great progress in our campaign to elect conservatives to the U.S. Senate. Since launching the "Take America Back" website just two weeks ago, we've met and exceeded our initial fundraising goals. The first week, we set a goal of investing $50,000 in our conservative candidates and you met it. The second week, we set a goal of investing $75,000 and you crushed it. This week, we're aiming to invest $100,000 to achieve conservative victories across the country. You can make contributions to our conservative candidates and track our progress using the "Take America Back" website. Scroll down to see the chart showing our goals for each of the 12 weeks leading up to Election Day. Our candidates are also making significant progress in the battleground states. In Washington State, Dino Rossi won the "top two" primary last week and will now face Senator Patty Murray in November. It's going to be a classic conservative vs. liberal match-up that I'm confident we can win. You will be pleased to know that a new Seattle King 5 News poll taken after the primary shows Rossi leading Murray by 5 percentage points. The biggest challenge in this race is fundraising. If Rossi can raise the support he needs to get his message out and defend himself from Murray's attacks, he will most certainly win. In Nevada, Senator Harry Reid is on the ropes. He's been playing the race card with Hispanics, saying a a recent event, "I don't know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican." He has also been running away from President Obama's decision to support the mosque at Ground Zero. Senator Reid knows he's in trouble and he'll do anything and say anything to hold on to power. Conservative Sharron Angle is very close in the polls and she can definitely win this race. The liberal media and the Washington establishment want her to lose so they can lecture conservatives about how the Republican Party needs to nominate liberal RINOs (Republicans in Name Only) to win. Conservatives must rally and help Angle win this race. Conservative principles are not extreme and conservative leaders are more electable, not less. In Colorado, Michael Bennet -- President Obama's hand-picked, appointed Senator -- is desperately trying to run away from his big-spending record. This week, he got the liberal Denver Post to write a puff piece casting him as a leader on education reform. I've been in the Senate every day since Senator Bennet was appointed and I can tell you he hasn't done a thing to improve education in this country. In fact, I cannot think of a single thing Senator Bennet has done on any issue. The truth is: Michael Bennet is a rubber stamp for President Obama's liberal agenda. He voted to increase the debt limit to over $14 trillion dollars and he was so determined to pass President Obama's health care takeover that he said he would be happy to lose his job over it. We intend to give him his wish. Conservative Ken Buck is now leading Bennet in the polls and is well-positioned to defeat him in November. The Senate Conservatives Fund is preparing a hard-hitting radio ad campaign so voters in Colorado know the truth about these two candidates. I'll have more information for you on our other candidates later this week. There are only 10 weeks left until the biggest election of our lifetime. We need everyone to help us down the stretch. Thank you for your encouragement and continued support. Working together, I'm confident we can achieve conservative victories this year. Respectfully, ![]() Jim DeMint United States Senator Chairman, Senate Conservatives Fund |
