The Donk Cure For Everything

Tiny Tim on unemployment:

This is the other end of the phenemon the regime has heretofore not been so forthcoming about explaining.  That as "discouraged workers" have been leaving the labor force over recent months, they've stopped being counted in calculating the "official" unemployment rate, which is why it's been bouncing around in the high nines ever since "officially" broaching ten percent last year.  As I've written on numerous occasions, if you count discouraged workers, the unemployment rate has been in double digits ever since Red Barry was immaculated eighteen months ago.

But now, in keeping with the regime's "RECOVERY SUMMER!!!!" propaganda clusterbleep, here's The Deadbeat taking pains to explain why the "official" unemployment rate will be edging up over the NEXT few months - not from additional job losses stemming from a worsening of the Great Recession that never really ended, but from hordes of "encouraged workers" returning to the labor force to snarf up all those mythical "jobs" that Hogzilla "saved or created".

And the White House wonders why The One is almost in the thirties even in Gallup's numbers.  It's the difference between "not listening" and actively rejecting feedback.  They have their Narrative and they're sticking to it, even if it makes them look deranged.

Which is a fair approximation of the Donk prescription for the latest manufacturing slump:

President Obama and congressional Democrats — out of options for another quick shot of stimulus spending to revive the sluggish economy — are shifting toward a longer-term strategy that promises to tackle persistently high unemployment by engineering a renaissance in American manufacturing.

I.e. another round of "miraculous" government central planning tellling American manufacturers what, when, and how much to manufacture - you know, like Obama Motors and the Chevy Dolt.

That approach, heralded by Obama last week in Detroit and sketched out in a memo to House Democrats as they headed home for the August break, is still evolving and so far focuses primarily on raising taxes on multinational corporations that Democrats accuse of shipping jobs overseas.

The strategy also repackages policies long pursued by the White House — such as investing [snort] in clean energy, roads, bridges and broadband service — with more than two dozen legislative proposals aimed at developing a plan for promoting [gag] domestic manufacturing.

This is the point where I'd say something like, "THIS is NEW???", except that the WaPo actually did it for me:

Many of the ideas being promoted by Democrats to stop the slide are hardly new. House Republican Whip Eric Cantor called the strategy “more meaningless than harmful” after voting for one Democratic proposal, a resolution to encourage packers of domestic fruits and vegetables to display the American flag on their labels.

And the White House wonders why The One is....oh, you get the idea.  This is LITERALLY the same crap that he was INSISTING had to be RAMMED THROUGH RIGHT NOW sixteen months ago to "save the country" from "another Great Depression" and "keep the unemployment rate under 8%".  So Hogzilla was rammed through RIGHT THEN and unemployment blew right on past 8% like it wasn't even there, and another generation got its firsthand education in the utter codswallopery of Keynesianism, at a "tuition" cost of almost a trillion wasted bucks.  Leading to the firsthand education in psychological denial and blind guide zealotry as Democrats keep insisting that Hogzilla "worked" against all facts and evidence and insist on RAMMING THROUGH MORE of it when the economic numbers plunge anew.

Only this time with a gratuitous, in-your-face tax hike as the cherry atop the putrid sundae.

One has to marvel at the obtuse effrontery of punishing with a tax hike "multinational corporations" that are "shipping jobs overseas" because it's costing them too frakking much to keep jobs in the U.S.  I'd use the "last Obamunist leaving America, please turn out the lights" punchline, except that the power will have been disconnected long before that endgame is reached.
