ObamaCare Must Be Repealed

Of all the policy issues that will be impacted by this year's mid-term elections, none will be affected more than President Obama's takeover of our nation's health care system. If we elect principled conservatives, we can delay the program's implementation and then repeal it when we defeat Obama in 2012. If we don't, we will lose the greatest medical system the world has ever known.

The president's experiment in government-run health care is already beginning to negatively impact American families. Some of the program's mandates, which are going into effect now, are beginning to drive up health insurance premiums. According to the Wall Street Journal, ObamaCare will force health insurers to raise their premiums in coming weeks by 1% to 9% to pay for extra benefits required under the new law. And this doesn't even count the cuts that will be made to Medicare.

This is only the beginning. For every mandated requirement there is an extra cost. One provision of ObamaCare requires insurance plans to cover children on their parent’s insurance up to the adult age of 26. Since this government mandate is likely to cost health insurers a significant amount of money, they have no choice but to pass this extra cost onto consumers.

I'm writing to you today to ask for your immediate help. I am the chairman of the Senate Conservatives Fund — a political action committee dedicated to electing rock-solid conservative leaders to the United States Senate.

We have endorsed nine conservative candidates for this election cycle who have all pledged to fight to repeal President Obama's health care takeover. If you want to stop the greatest Washington power grab in American history and save freedom in this great country, we desperately need your help promoting our candidates.

Your health and the health of your family is extremely personal. It's not something that should be controlled by bureaucrats and politicians in Washington. Instead, we need to get the government out of the way so patients and doctors can make the best choices and achieve the best outcomes. And we need to unleash the power of a competitive marketplace to squeeze out excessive costs in the system so Americans get the highest quality of care at the lowest prices.

The negative consequences of ObamaCare were all predicted before the 2,400-page bill was passed. Democrats said it would “lower costs in the health care system,” but countless economists warned of the costly unintended consequences that would occur. In fact, 130 economists signed a letter to the White House that “the health care bill will increase spending on health care and will increase the cost of health coverage.” Democrats ignored their advice by passing the health care overhaul bill into law.

Now costs are going up and these same Democrats are running away from this dangerous takeover as fast as they can, hoping their constituents will forget they supported it. They can run but they can't hide. Our conservative Senate candidates are running to repeal ObamaCare and they're working hard to hold their liberal opponents accountable.

Repeal Obamacare. Support the Senate Conservatives.
Here are the key match-ups taking place right now across the country:
  • Pat Toomey in Pennsylvania wants to repeal government health care. Joe Sestak does not.

  • Marco Rubio in Florida wants to repeal it. Charlie Crist and Kendrick Meek don't.

  • Ken Buck in Colorado wants to repeal it. Senator Michael Bennet does not. In fact, Bennet voted for the bill and said that he would be willing to lose his seat in order pass the takeover. With your help, we can honor his request.

  • Rand Paul in Kentucky wants to repeal ObamaCare. Jack Conway does not.

  • Mike Lee in Utah will fight for repeal. Sam Granato won't.

  • Sharron Angle in Nevada is for repeal. Senator Harry Reid is not. In fact, he traded one earmark after another to buy the votes needed to pass it.

  • Ron Johnson in Wisconsin wants repeal and has stated that this is the issue that spurred him to run for office. However, his opponent, Senator Russ Feingold, does not.

  • Dino Rossi in Washington wants repeal. Senator Patty Murray does not.

  • Joe Miller in Alaska will fight for repeal. Scott McAdams won't.
In race after race where conservatives are running, the choice could not be more clear. We have a one-time opportunity to stop this law in its tracks but only if we help elect the right people.

You see, some Republicans are already hedging on the issue. They're already trying to downplay expectations. Instead of repealing the bill, they plan to only cancel small pieces of it. This is unacceptable and it's another reason why we need to elect leaders who have the courage to stand up for their principles, even if it means going against the leaders in their own party.

If you want to help us repeal government health care, please make a contribution to the Senate Conservatives Fund today. Your contribution will help these nine conservative champions win in November.

The Senate Conservatives Fund is not affiliated with the Republican Party or any of its campaign committees. This is an independent organization that puts principle ahead of party. In fact, I started SCF because I grew tired watching my party spend a fortune electing politicians who wouldn't stand up for our values.

The Senate Conservatives Fund has proven its effectiveness time and time again this year. In fact, the Wall Street Journal says SCF is "
taking Washington by storm." We've already invested over $2.7 million in our candidates but we need your help to achieve conservative victories in November.

We need to raise another $500,000 over the next seven weeks to fully fund our budget for victory. We can reach this goal but we need help. It's not important that you give a lot — just that we get a lot of people to give a little.

Thank you for considering my request. Together, I'm confident we can take our country back and protect the greatest health care system the world has ever known.

Respectfully,

Jim DeMint
United States Senator
Chairman, Senate Conservatives Fund.

UPDATE: Notice which name is not on DeMint's list.  It's been four days since he foolishly endorsed Christine O'Donnell; how long does it take to add a lone name to a mass emailing?  Hmmmm.

Additional thought: Dino Rossi, I am amused to point out, is NOT a "true conservative"; he's a "mainstream Republican" in the mold of Slade GortonClint Didier was the Tea Party candidate in the Washington Republican senatorial primary.  So why did DeMint break faith with his Evergreen State followers and go with the "traitor" rather than the "real thing"?  You don't think maybe electability had something to do with it, DO you?

Oh, BTW, Mike Castle favors repealing ObamaCare.  Just like Dino Rossi does.  Fancy that.
