"Rouse" Means "In"

Well, I SAID Barry would pick an insider:

Mr. Obama plans to name Pete Rouse, a senior adviser, to replace Mr. Emanuel, two officials confirmed. Mr. Rouse has been at the president’s side since Mr. Obama arrived in Washington nearly six years ago as a senator, serving as his chief of staff.

Mr. Rouse will not be an interim appointment, but rather will formally take over Mr. Emanuel’s title. While Mr. Rouse has expressed reservations about holding the chief of staff job for an extended period, he has agreed to do the job – for now.

Mr. Rouse has a low profile outside the White House and across Washington, but he is extraordinarily close to the president and is respected inside the West Wing and on Capitol Hill, where he was known as the “101st Senator” in his role as an adviser to Senator Tom Daschle of South Dakota, then the Democratic leader.

When Mr. Daschle was defeated in 2004, Mr. Obama hired Mr. Rouse to run his Senate office, a decision that was central to Mr. Obama’s abrupt political rise.

I guess that last sentence is the Slimes' office-warming gift to the new COS.

And the three years that the Golden Child pretended to be a United States Senator and compiled the leftmost voting record in the Senate?  Was that Rouse's doing as well?

Probably he won't be dropping F-bombs every other sentence, but otherwise I can't see Rouse being any different from Emanuel - who, do not forget, was also touted for the COS slot for his familiarity with Capitol Hill (having been a congressman).  Which is to say, familiarity working with Democrats, with which, after all, the then-incoming Congress was going to be swamped.  The next incoming Congress will not be, and I haven't seen any indication that Rouse is capable of working across the aisle, as it were.

I think King Hussein would have gotten pretty much the same result from having Rahmbo cured of his Touret's and political ambitions.  The attached instincts to the latter of which, ironically, prompted the next Mayor of Chicago to jump clear of the proverbial tank before it plunged off the political cliff.
