What Kids Won't Learn In School This Year

As your kids and grandkids head back to school this month, we at the Freedom Foundation have taken it upon ourselves to make available critical information they’re almost sure not to get in the classroom.

We are proud to announce the release of our new online video series, Talk Back on Economics. In ten short episodes we explain basic economic ideas in fun and engaging ways average people, and even kids, can understand. Click on the picture to watch the video The Right to Free Ice Cream?

There is now a whole generation, of which I am a part, that has grown up without having witnessed or understood the failure of government-controlled economic policies—particularly in the 1970’s. Because of this economic illiteracy, this generation is being subjected to—and even calling for—policies which history has shown to be dismal failures, and which a true understanding of basic economic principles would refute.

I think the majority of us hope to leave a better world for the next generation. But the students will soon become the stewards, and it’s vital that they understand basic principles of economics, which really amount to acknowledging human behavior and incentives, cause and effect.

Our new economics video series targets the up-and-coming influencers in society about the prosperity that free markets bring to humanity, and the human misery that results from centralized, command-and-control economic policies.

Our Talk Back on Economics series will be available to anyone who can access our website, but we are specifically targeting a young demographic.

Initially, we plan to create ten episodes. If they meet our goals, we may record more. Here are a few of the episodes we have written so far:

Is Capitalism Evil?
The Right to Free Ice Cream?
Seen and Unseen: The Law of Unintended Consequences
Seen and Unseen: What Might Have Been
Mommy, Where Does Wealth Come From?
Can Government Create Jobs?

Some of these episodes are available now on GetFree.tv. We’ll be releasing one each week. Do you know someone who needs to see them?
