Another Day In The Life Of Barry Soetoro

How do you conceal a multi-million gallon oil spill in the federal witness protection program?  You can't.  But the Regime tried to find a way - and not to protect Armus, either:

Government scientists wanted to tell Americans early on how bad the BP oil spill could get, but the White House denied their request to make the worst-case models public, a report by the staff of the national panel investigating the spill said Wednesday. …

The first report said that the “decision to withhold worst-case discharge figures” may have been made at a high level. It said that in late April or early May, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration “wanted to make public some of its long-term, worst-case discharge models for the Deepwater Horizon spill, and requested approval to do so from the White House’s Office of Management and Budget. Staff was told that the Office of Management and Budget denied NOAA’s request.” …

The report noted that retired Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen, the government’s top official on the disaster, and other officials said in news conferences that the government prepared for a worst-case scenario from the beginning, and didn’t base decisions about what equipment would be needed on the early estimates of 1,000 to 5,000 barrels a day.

However, it said, the government withheld the figures of what “worst-case” meant.

In short, they tried to cover it up - more specifically....

1) They wanted to hide the fact that they didn't have the first clue how to "plug the damn hole," which would be exponentially more difficult to keep low on the public's radar screen if the latter knew just how huge Armus was, so they just blatantly lied to the public about the spill's true extent;

2) In the first month of the spill The One wanted to focus on his war against Arizona, to which transparency about Armus would otherwise have been an "inconvenient" distraction;

3) The Obama House wanted Deepwater Horizon as the crisis they could exploit to turn the American people against oil and natural gas (i.e. REAL energy sources) and thus get their anti-energy cap & tax policy unstalled and once again moving ahead toward Senate ram-down.

All of the above were, in other words, political objectives of far greater critical importance to Team Messiah than the practical matter of fixing the immediate problem and doing what was necessary to safeguard the means of continued energy exploration and production in the Gulf of Mexico - and the thousands and thousands of jobs that go with it.  Which, of course, were destroyed by Barry's blanket drilling ban, after it became obvious that the American public, when push comes to shove, prefers affordable energy to leftwingnut windmill and sunbeam fantasies.

Looks like Chairman Issa's plate just got fuller.  And don't think Lucifer isn't acutely aware of it:

A Republican majority in Congress would mean “hand-to-hand combat” on Capitol Hill for the next two years, threatening policies Democrats have enacted to stabilize the economy, President Obama warned Wednesday…

Yeah - at the bottom.  Reviving the economy, getting it growing and producing jobs again, would introduce "dangerous instability," dontcha know.  Somehow I get the feeling that We, The People, are not satisfied with near-zero growth and ten percent unemployment as the "New Stability".

Obama called into Baisden’s show, syndicated to seventy-one radio stations in twenty-one states....

I guess this is the Left's equivalent of Bush or Cheney calling Rush Limbaugh.  Man, I didn't know the Donk base had shrunk THAT much....

....as part of his effort to rally core Democratic constituencies with less than four weeks before the election. Although his campaign itinerary is limited by sagging approval ratings in key states, Obama is making a more-targeted effort focused on supportive venues like Baisden’s show.

“Everybody in the barbershops, the beauty shops, and at work — everybody’s got to understand: This is a huge election,” he said. “If we turn out in strong numbers, then we will do fine. If we do not, if we are depressed and decide, well, you know, Barack’s not running right now, so I’m just going to stay home, then I’m going to have my hands full up here on Capitol Hill.”

Oh, we know how huge it is, Li'l President.  And we know you know why.  Which is why you're also preparing to make sure Capitol Hill has its hands full down at the Obama House:

So the best arena for Obama to execute his plans may be his own branch of government. That means more executive orders, more use of the bully pulpit, and more deployment of his ample regulatory powers and the wide-ranging rulemaking authority of his Cabinet members…

One area of likely administration action is climate change. Legislation curbing emissions that cause global warming is stalled in Congress. Such efforts have a goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to 17% below 2005 levels over the next decade.

The Obama administration does not think it can achieve the same reductions through regulation alone. Nonetheless, the Environmental Protection Agency is determined to use its regulatory power under the Clean Air Act to begin lowering emissions, in the absence of congressional action.

This is the dictatorial phase of the Obamidency.  It's like chess: He sent his congressional pawns out in the first two years to get chewed up ramming the ball down the field and getting as much of the regulatory superstructure in place as possible; now in the next two years he'll rule by decree and ram down the rest of his domestic communization agenda unilaterally.

Which is the genesis of the GOP's targeted defunding strategy.  The Executive Branch can't do squat if they don't have any dough, after all.  That's the power with which the Obamabeast can be controlled, and must be.

And in this epic partisan showdown for control of the nation's future, it's looking quite evident that King Hussein is writing checks his evaporating clout won't be able to cash:

One of the most amazing things in our polling over the last month has been how dreadfully bad Barack Obama’s approval numbers are with likely voters in a lot of states that he won by large margins in 2008. We’ve polled twelve states since the beginning of September that Obama won by at least 9 points and in all but three of those states - Hawaii, California, and New York- his numbers are under water.

The states where we do now find Obama with negative numbers that he won easily in 2008- Michigan, Wisconsin, New Mexico, New Hampshire, Delaware, Maine, Connecticut, Colorado, and Illinois.

In the places where the bulk of likely voters disapprove of Obama it’s not very hard to see the contribution that’s making to tough Democratic prospects this fall. Democrats at this point are favored to lose Governorships in Michigan, Wisconsin, New Mexico, and Maine. Illinois and even New Hampshire are possible losses as well. The party is also favored to lose [a] Senate seat in Wisconsin, could lose them in Illinois and Colorado, looks like it will miss out on a once bright pick up opportunity in New Hampshire, and had to be bailed out by the Tea Party in Delaware.

Couldn't resist highlighting that last "See I told you so".

Welcome to the Incredible Shrinking Presidency.  It's like when the Wicked Witch of the West got doused in water, only with B.O. it'll be chads.  Indeed, the effect is already manifesting itself, with collateral damage:

About three dozen people have been treated for illness during a rally featuring President Obama at Bowie State University.

Prince George's County Fire and EMS spokesman Mark Brady tells WTOP numerous ambulances have been sent to the rally after people started fainting and became dizzy.

Hint: NOT Jemimah Glory swoon.

I harken back to the Scott Hall line that launched the original NWO angle: "You want a war?  Congratulations - you got one."
