New Secret Empire Plotting Against Consumers

There is a dangerous empire quietly being built right now here in America. But this empire is not based on military or economic strength like you would expect. Instead, radical environmental activists, U.S. paper companies and Barack Obama’s union cronies have formed an empire of collusion to promote “green” protectionism.

Supported by liberals in Congress, these groups are working together to halt imports of paper, pulp and timber products from developing countries in Asia.

The cost of this “green” protectionism will be footed by American industries that rely on these imports to compete in our global economy. Given the current state of our own fragile economic recovery, these trade barriers backed by extremist groups like Greenpeace and the Rainforest Action Network are the last thing we can afford!

And this is not even the worst of it...

...Most troubling, those attacking these high-quality imports from places like China and Indonesia will ultimately raise the price of countless pulp and paper products we consumers use every day!

I’m warning you, this is not just another trade dispute that you hear about on the cable television shows. This colluding by liberal activists and scheming corporations will steal from the wallet of virtually every American consumer! From tissues and printing paper to shipping boxes and stationery, if this “green” protectionism is not stopped, American consumers and businesses will be forced to spend a lot more on every day products. As children return to school, these groups have even gone so far as to use our kids as political pawns, attacking children’s books that use Asian paper products to push their anti-trade, anti-consumer agenda!

And thanks to the radical scheming of this empire, millions of workers in the developing world who supply these imports will be deprived of a better life. We cannot let this happen!

What is more, increasingly-uncompetitive U.S. paper companies like Sappi and Appleton are working with some of the biggest supporters of liberal Democrats in Washington, such as the United Steelworkers Union and their front-group lobbyists in Washington, to lodge a trade “dumping” complaint with the International Trade Commission against high-quality, fair-priced Chinese and Indonesian imports.

...And the Commission is set to make a decision to establish these tariffs permanently very soon! These protectionist measures are being supported by even Staples and OfficeMax. If passed, Americans consumers lose!

THESE COMPANIES AND UNIONS WILL KILL THE AMERICAN CONSUMER WITH THEIR INTERNATIONAL TRADE COMMISSION FILING. PETITION THEM NOW AND MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD!

This empire of collusion must be stopped. Using false claims of illegal logging to justify these trade barriers against Asian pulp, paper and timber imports is morally wrong. And enlisting “research” groups like the Economic Policy Institute – which gets a third of its funding from Obama-Pelosi union groups – to make the case against these imports is dirty politics.
