Not All Productivities Are Created Equal

There's an almost painful naivete to this Assholiated Press lamentation of the tragically premature death of the "permanent Democrat realignment".  They just can't understand why the American people refuse to be sobbingly grateful for the "productivity" of the Pelosi/Reid Politburo as they are:

The public panned it. Republicans obstructed it. Many Democrats fled from it. Even so, the session of Congress now drawing to a close was the most productive in nearly half a century.

Not since the explosive years of the civil rights movement and the hard-fought debut of government-supported health care for the elderly and poor have so many big things — love them or hate them — been done so quickly.

In the 1960s Democrats paid the price for events largely outside their control — an escalating war in Vietnam going badly, rowdy anti-war protests and violence in American cities, said Linda Fowler, professor of government at Dartmouth College.

“I think that’s what’s going on this time too,” Fowler said, “despite a very significant record of accomplishment.”…

Let's try to put this in words even a JournoLister hack can understand.  Suppose that the Boehner/McConnell 112th Congress succeeds in permanentizing the Bush tax rates, defunding Hogzilla, defunding TARP, and rolling federal spending back to 2008 (i.e. pre-Obama) levels.  Let us also postulate that Paul Ryan's Roadmap gets implemented in its entirety, meaning genuine Social Security and Medicare reform that rescues the two entitlements from insolvency without raising taxes.  Let's really go hog wild and throw in blanket repeal of ObamaCare and FinReg.  Finally, assume that all of these items are rammed through Congress by veto-proof margins.  By any measure that would be a HUGELY productive session of Congress.

Think the Assholiated Press or its fellow Obamunist propagandists would describe it that way?

Parades are "productive" too, AP.  That's why the last entrant is always the guy with the scoop.
