In a year that began with presidential trash-talk literally into the faces of the SCOTUS at the SOTU show over its outrageously outrageous decicion in the Citizens United to finally restore the original meaning and core purpose of the First Amendment as protecting ALL political speech, and was followed in the summer by the Donks' brazenly self-serving DISCLOSE bill which would have muzzled pretty much any outside organizational campaigning except for their Big Labor comrades (yes, yes, and the NRA), and finally the hysterical anti-U.S. Chamber of Commerce/American Crossroads shrieking from Godbama on down over the past few weeks, this dollop of lunacy from Pete DeFazio (D-OR4) is like the infested cherry atop the turd sundae:

Yeah, let's impeach Chief Justice Roberts because Citzens United proves he's a "radical rightwing judicial activist," generally defined as any judge or justice who does not adjudicate as a radical leftwing judicial activist.  Because the U.S. Constitution can only "live and breathe" in one direction, doncha know.

Defazio isn't impeaching anybody from the minority next year, of course, and I don't think the Lame Duck ambush will be long enough to do it then, and even the current Senate would never have removed him from Olympus anyway.  What puzzles me is why he limited his purge to just Roberts; if you're going to try a judicial coup de tat, why not clean out Alito, Thomas, and Scalia as well?  Why be a DINO?

Pussy.

***What we have with the Chairm'am of the Senate Unethics Committee, ladies and gentlemen, is a pattern of misconduct:

In a breaking development that may affect the close California Senate race, Pajamas Media has learned The Foundation for Ethics in Public Service sent a letter to Eric Holder last Thursday requesting the attorney general “begin an investigation to determine whether United States Senator Barbara Boxer violated any criminal laws or should be liable for any civil penalty for failure to disclose real property on her Personal Financial Disclosure Reports between 2002 and 2010.”

The Foundation for Ethics in Public Service is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization “that seeks to bring a new level of transparency, accountability and integrity to all levels of government in the United States.”  Boxer is the chair of the Senate Select Committee on Ethics.

The specific property FEPS is referring to is an Oakland, California, home valued at over a million dollars and co-owned by Boxer, her husband Stewart, their son Douglas, and his wife Amy.

Ensign Ed thinks FEPS should have gone through....the Senate Unethics Committee first.  Seems like an obviously pointless exercise, although I suppose it would have had the virtue of forcing Babsy to stonewall personally, instead of letting Eric The Red roundfile FEPS's letter for her.  Maybe the letter was an attention grabbing effort, but given Boxer's small but stubborn lead and the ticking of the campaign clock, a hail Mary is probably all they had.

Exit question: If the GOP does recapture the Senate, does the letter to DOIR preclude going through the Ethics Committee next year when Babs would no longer have the power to block it?

***Wow.  This one was DEFINITELY not on my tsunami victim list:

In an election for US Representative from California’s 20th Congressional District today, 10/25/10, Republican challenger Andy Vidak is atop incumbent Democrat Jim Costa, 52% to 42%, according to SurveyUSA polling conducted in English and in Spanish for KFSN-TV Fresno.

Costa has experienced across-the-board erosion since SurveyUSA’s last poll six weeks ago: Among women, Costa had led by fourteen, now leads by two. Among voters age 50+, Costa had led by three, now trails by fourteen. Among voters without a college degree, Cost had led by six, now trails by eleven.

Whites vote Republican. Hispanics vote Democrat. If Hispanic turnout is higher than the 36% shown here, Costa performs better, but still trails. For example, if Hispanic turnout is modeled at 40%, Vidak today would lead by seven points. If Hispanic turnout is modeled at 30%, Vidak would lead by twelve points.

California-20 is the only chunk of the greenstremist-devastated San Joaquin Valley not enjoying the benefit of Republican representation - for another six days.

Yes, I do believe I'll have tarter sauce on my delta smelt steak.  And I'd like fries with that, Mr. Costa.  And when I'm done, you can tip ME, asshole.

***Pencil-necked Sith?:

Nah, Dirty Harry is no Darth Sidious, either.  The latter never foresaw Darth Vader throwing him down the second death star reactor shaft but if he'd seen that coming six months in advance, "Ani" would have been free-floating miticlorians before his next machine-driven wheeze.  What's the Man of Steal's excuse?

***Is Debbie Wasserman-Schultz what they mean by the term "Jewish-American Princess"?  I get that very strong impression every time I see (and can stomach hearing) her.  Reason TV gets the additional impression that she isn't much in to avoiding certain unclean animals:

Well, let's not be too hard on her; it's not as though she can avoid herself.
