The Man Of Steal
You name it - "shepharding" the eight hundred billion dollar TARP that the American public detested from day one through Congress; conveniently neglecting to mention that TARP was, um, George Bush's and Henry Paulsen's idea far more than it was anything the Searchlight Seizer ever sparked from that low-wattage crainium of his; infringing upon Red Barry's megalomania gimmick. And that leaves aside the very arguable point of whether the boast of having "averted a second Great Depression" has any validity to it. And even if it does, Dirty Harry's in line with his party to "Smoot-Hawley" the "only" stubbornly recessed economy into that Depression next year anyway by obstructing extention of the Bush tax rates.
If he'd said, "I saved America from a second Great Depression until we could engineer it ourselves when it could be blamed on the Republicans again," I'd almost have no problem with it.
Almost, that is.
Twin exit questions: Why would Pencilneck want to glom credit for something (TARP) voters abhor? And given that Nevada has the highest unemployment rate in the country, how stupid is he to brag about having saved the country from another depression when his own constituents are pretty much legitimately in one?
(Hint: Note on what channel he was being interviewed and by whom).
