The Superior Illinoisomes

I've gotta give credit where credit is due: Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL9) steps up to the plate and swings like a turbofan at the pitch to explain how the ObamaCare individual mandate is constitutional:

She whiffed so badly she dug several garish divots in home plate, but at least she didn't charge the mound, bat in hand, like Roberto Clemente and break it over Adam Sharp's head.  You KNOW Alan Grayson would have before Sharp even asked his question.

Oh, you could make the argument that she should have cut directly to walking away, I suppose.  I'd wager Illinois Donk/mob Senate nopeful Alexi Giannoulias wishes he'd had a last-minute "scheduling conflict" before his head-to-header with GOP frontrunner Mark Kirk on Press The Meat yesterday:

Ladies and gentlemen, when a candidate has two choices, and the BETTER choice is to make himself look like a haplessly incompetent boob, that is a candidate who would have to travel a hundred light-years upwards to reach the "world of hurt" level.  Which brings us back to what has always been the central question in this race: Was the Donk bench in the Land of Lincoln so depleted by the criminal justice system that the best senatorial standardbearer they could come up with was a money launderer for La Casa Nostra?  Really?  Jan Schakowsky was too busy teaching her "U.S. Constitution As Charmin" class to bother recruiting?

I don't know if the “Jaws” Giorango Moment is the climactic tipping point in this race only because it took place on the mass communications equivalent of the side of a milk carton.  And because I think it's pretty much garbage time already.

But that's the historical account I'll be writing.
