The Superior Panic
Yesterday, the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee heaved three more doomed Donks overboard:
As Republicans made new investments in at least ten races across the country, including two Democratic seats here in eastern Ohio, Democratic leaders took steps to pull out of some races entirely or dramatically cut their financial commitment in several districts that the party won in the last two election cycles.
Representatives Steve Driehaus of Ohio, Suzanne Kosmas of Florida and Kathy Dahlkemper of Pennsylvania were among the Democrats who learned that they would no longer receive the same infusion of television advertising that party leaders had promised. Party strategists conceded that these races and several others were slipping out of reach.
Today, soon-to-be ex-Representative Driehaus wasted no time in getting in touch with his inner brownshirt:
A Democratic congressman from Ohio got a boost from his state’s elections commission on Thursday in his campaign to prevent an anti-abortion group from running billboards attacking him for supporting the healthcare bill.
The decision by a three-member panel of the Ohio Elections Commission allows U.S. Rep. Steve Driehaus to move forward with a complaint alleging that the Susan B. Anthony List, an anti-abortion group, is deliberately lying about his record when it says he supports government-funded abortion because of his March vote for healthcare reform. …
Conservative groups allege that the healthcare bill funds abortion by allowing Americans to buy into government subsidized healthcare exchanges in which abortion is covered.
Remember something, folks: for two and a half more weeks, Ohio is still a Democrat-dominated state. So OF COURSE the Ohio elections commission is going to let Driehaus censor the Susan B. Anthony List, despite the obvious fact that he, and not they, are "deliberately lying" about his support for federally funded abortions in ObamaCare. But leave the details aside for a moment: Even if SBAL was lying with their ad reminding voters of Driehaus' betrayal, the First Amendment gives them the BLANKET RIGHT TO DO SO. Shinola, if truth-bending in political advertising was banned, the entire Democrat Party would go dark.
BTW, would it surprise you to learn that soon-to-be ex-Representative Dahlkemper is doing the exact same thing? Doomed proletarians of the world, UNITE!
Speaking of lying....well, Babsy Boxer was doing a softball interview, not an ad, so I guess it harkens back to the Hinchey post, what with her own "Deficit? What's a deficit?" obtusity:
Oh, don't think that Senator M'am can't match Hinch for sheer obnoxious arrogance, but with her there's always the doubt, always the doubt. Except about whether or not she's going to be re-elected, that is. No wonder California is mega-boned - all the brains have left the state, leaving what's left flopping around furiously because it's too stupid to realize its already dead.
Then we have deposed House Majority Whip Jim HeartClyburn burbling up this funeral dirge rallying cry:
"Reelect me, keep Democrats on the field. And when we come back next year, maybe we will get to the public option," Majority Whip James Clyburn (SC6) said during an appearance on the Tom Joyner Morning Show.
Clyburn has been traveling the country and making media appearances this week in an effort to drum up lagging voter enthusiasm on the Democratic side heading into the November 2nd midterms.
The public healthcare option was a top prize for liberal activists during the nearly two-year long debate over healthcare reform, but it was scrapped from the final legislation after support for it fell short in the Senate.
Oh, yes, "lagging enthusiasm on the Democrat side" is going to be whipped back into an electrified frenzy by the ironclad promise that if the feverswamps mobilize and limit the Donk losses to "only" forty-some seats from seventy- or eighty-some, that "much strengthened" minority position will be MORE THAN ENOUGH from which to bulldoze through the next Congress the same Public Option that couldn't survive with three to two margins in both chambers in this one.
I honestly wish I could tell whether Clyburn actually believes this doggerrell so that I knew whether or not to pity him his hopeless task even while I'm laughing hysterically at him.
But there is one House Democrat about which I don't have to wonder in this regard, nor do I have any doubts about whether or not he's panicking as he prepares to wave his seat buh-bye:
Alan Grayson was a kamikaze from the day he was sworn in. It was a two-year leftwingnut kegger for him, and he's enjoyed every caustic, reprehensible moment of it.
Makes it all the more appropriate that Ed "Glenn Beck Wannabe" Schultz gave him his high fives as he came off the field for the last time. Two creatures for whom the words "deficit," "shame," or "regret" really don't exist in their vocabularies.
